I adore classic American cars. Epecially form the era lets say late 50's to the late 70's (in general) But some of the cars i see here realy look like they are in very good condition. It's great to watch, but also at the same time with a littlebit of pain in my heart to see them destroyed. Especially the ones that look like they have very good body with no issues at all like car number 24 (the first one on the track, and also my favorite).
Well none to worry. Most generally they're cars that were beyond reasonable repair or restoration. Cars I have used have been junkers, rusters and rotter's. Pretty much the Junk of the Junk you might say. I've cut down trees or winched out of ravines. To get a car for demolition competitions. Oldest junker I have ever used was a 1947 Chrysler Windsor left in the woods. I pull out what ever can be salvaged and resold. Then put a engine, trans and a 3/4 ton spool rear end . Or old Packards, Hudson and Studebaker's.
Where do they keep finding these pre-1970 cars to derby? They are very rarely seen on the road anymore, sure would rather see some of this vintage tin restored and driven rather than destroyed.
Well, troughout in the the U.S there are seem to be very big scrapyards sometimes with over 10.000 cars, many of them containing cars that we condsidering to be classic cars (25+ years). Some of these scrapyards are also in the desert, so that means that 70's cars (or older) can sit in the scrapyard for decades without rusting away. So as far as i know, it's seems to be pretty easy to find one of these cars at the scrapyard. But please do not attck me right away. I'm not an American, but i have watched quite a lot of documentairy's about Amerivan cars in general. And also have seen multiple documantairy's about Demolition Derby's.
@@opoxious1592 I find my cars in field's,barn lot's, Abandoned lots,Woods abandoned farms and old abandoned salvage yards. I've used clunkers and the Junk of the Junk.
Remember a time where these were the cars you would regularly see out on the streets? Yeah I miss those times. Good ol' stock American V8s is the greatest sound in the world.
Current cars don't have such vitality. Too complicated and too much crappy plastic in vital places. One hit and you're done with broken plastic intake or got shut down by computer due for some sensor malfunction.
Well the cars that are used are junkers. Probably abandoned or set out in the weather to long or were stripped out but not completely .I use 1965 to 1978 Full Size Chrysler,Dodge,Plymouth and G.M. wagons. I don't buy good running cars strictly rusters and rotters . Some are just the remains left behind . I burn em ,Build em , & Bash em . But I use Loose bore 305 chevy engines and spool rearend and a locked gear tranny (forward &Reverse only ) .Purpose built cars like they use in the Northeast..
Can you re-use the engine to build it in a new derby car? I mean, how long can you use the engine in general? I often can clearly see that the engines are extremely over heated, and yet they keep on running.
@@opoxious1592 as long as the engine holds together well enough. If it explodes and breaks the engine block. That's the the end of the engine. But I've reused and rebuilt engines till they couldn't be used no more. I have a 305,307, & 350 Chevrolet engine for use in my Super stock and Pro Modified weld cars. And I have a Olds 350 for use in Old Iron & Relics class demolition derby car's. My cars this year are a 70 Chrysler Town and Country,1987 Cadillac Sedan DeVille and a 58 Studebaker President for Old Iron/Relic's class. I've gotten two to three seasons out of a engine.
a theses derbys in the south or whatever are alot interesting than are local bc they put to Manny cars in at once and plus they do not have to much room at all and that so therefore they do not have them to close together which this one is so good
Ive seen derbys from every usa state's can Canada derbys and i got To say this place looks great love the derby pit some day I'll make it up to see this derby or I'll enter a car lol
What a waste of a 67/68 Dodge Polara/Monaco (first car in arena). That's one car that you don't take to a chain and bang ... Save that for the weld shows.
Me too. With all the cars to derby , why the classics? There are plenty of tough cars that take hits that aren't CLASSICS. Lets see Luminas, Cavalier, Taurus, all the others you see alot of in derbys all over u tube.
- Woobamboo - I agree. I love watching the derbys and the destruction but it just is unnecessary to run such old cars. Once they're gone they're gone. It should be nothing newer than 1990 vehicles. There are plenty of tough, front wheel drives that are dam tough. Just my .02 worth.
About 5 minutes in and can already say I wouldn't run this half assed derby. Leave the windshield in....no. There are cars with sharpened bumpers, cars with headlights in them and I'm sure there will be much more.
Zachary Maneja I know they're careful, but its too careful... I mean, the british / dutch 'bangers' are a lot intenser, and there are almost never people who are hurt... so thats the reason I say this...
Yaaayeeaaah!! Im gonna love this thing. Much better than watching K - drama or stupid moe moe shit anime(ooh wait... did my profile pic is cute enough for such a beast thing?). I love something beast like this!!
I love this. You can usually tell which cars are gonna suck first.

Excellent camera skills! The quality is awesome too! +1 like ;)
Thanks a lot!, really appreciate it :)
Where do they keep finding these pre-1970 cars to derby? They are very rarely seen on the road anymore, sure would rather see some of this vintage tin restored and driven rather than destroyed.
The cars they use for these derbies are past the point of being restored. They are so rusty and falling apart, they're not even worth saving.

this is awesome
i know right? imagine this but with 747's on FSX. ;)
That 68 Impala and Polara definitely had NO business being in this!
Love this derby
The minute I saw the rear end of that big cadillac folded up like that, I just KNEW we'd be seein' it turbulizin' it's wheel in someone's face
At some point these old cars will be too rare to put any in a derby. First car was a 1968 model. I do admit they are awesome derby cars though.
Finally, a derby that let's car have lights!
Remember a time where these were the cars you would regularly see out on the streets? Yeah I miss those times. Good ol' stock American V8s is the greatest sound in the world.
Agreed big time.
What class was this? Stock? Limited weld? Full weld?
It's pretty much all stock, besides the battery, fuel cell and exhaust removed and replaced.
Great sounding cars, they came in like a wrecking ball.
Orrex11 Are you referring to the song from: Ylvis - The Fox?
Orrex11 A ha, I didn't know that song until you mentioned it.
TheYottaTube why did u use that dumb song
For the Wrecking part.
i love it! thanks for loading
Man that Valiant is str8 as hell.. Such a shame.
Surprised to see glass and lights in these cars. They look much better that way.
What kind of car is #18? It looks kinda like a '95 Lincoln, but I'm not sure.
+Orrex11 Not sure on the year, but it is a Lincoln Town Car.
Ok
Funko internet
keith Copley
Wth...
+Orrex11 It's a 1990-94 Town Car. The 95-97 had narrower openings in the front fender for the smaller turn signals.
У них стоят ограничители скорости?
Derbies are great, but Horrible that even when cars are from 30+ years ago they are smashing em up. Get a current car thats beat up and smash it
Current cars don't have such vitality. Too complicated and too much crappy plastic in vital places. One hit and you're done with broken plastic intake or got shut down by computer due for some sensor malfunction.
In new zealand the cars used in derbys are mostly from the 90s with some early 2000s and very few 80s cars now
The problem is that newer cars can take far less punishment in comparison with the older cars.
I haven't seen a difference in 7 years
Damn, car #18 did work in this video!
Yeah That Car Could've Went On For About 5 More Heats!
Nice show.
76? Caddy was the heaviest and biggest car in this one. Another classic killed. ( it is dam entertaining though ).
18 saved his car until the end. He should have been red flagged
Couldn't agree more...bagger
Very nice
What kind was the first car?
Tim Halsey Should have been an imperial
Tim Halsey '67 '68 Dodge Monaco
+eldo59 I was thinking the same thing
1968 dodge polara
