After reading comments on this video about adventure vs novel mode and people complaining about the changes, I had to go look at videos on RUclips to see how different the DS version is. I admit I've only watched the first five minutes of this stream and the first five minutes of the DS version of the game and won't comment on the story, but from already watching those first few minutes it really appears this remaster butchered the game severely - regardless of the twists and turns of the story and how that ties into the DS version, the mood and feeling of the narration and what it adds in the DS version versus this remaster is so completely different that I think attempting to replicate it through the novel mode here along with the script changes was an extremely poor idea. They should have just divided the screen in two (allowing an option for a vertical or horizontal split), with the bottom screen being smaller. That may have made the game less accessible, but even as someone who knows very little about this game and hasn't played it, a quick comparison already tells me that the choices they made were not for the best and does not handle the fact that the story of the game was literally written around the hardware it was made for.

The fact that the game gives you the option to discover a big secret early if you're a complete asshole and force Santa, Lotus and Clover to compete for their lives is a fucking incredible moment in gaming to me. This game has a few ups with its mountain of downs.
I would never praise that scene considering Seven did as he was told for no reason “Trust me, just do it” and he did Also it makes 0 sense for those guys to compete as no one had to necessarily enter room 3 they could’ve simply make Junpei walk inside it to get rid of him for being an asshole or just letting the door close without no one entering and giving him a good old “what the heck is wrong with you?!!” Both scenarios were seen before with the 9th man and it’s clear neither Seven nor Santa were okay with that. This means they all acted like idiots believing they had to enter that room no matter what.
I absolutely loved this playthrough and Joe in general, but I do understand a lot of people in the comments who say his nitpicking rubs them the wrong way. For this game, I thought it was really funny and I was right there with him, confused, but enjoying it. After watching the Zero Escape vods, I watched his Danganronpa one playthrough and that was a different story. The nitpicks got so intense in the last third of that game that it just felt like Joe was torturing himself and me, but I cared enough about the narrative to force myself through. The ending of that story is pretty bad, but man some of the things Joe saw as problems were just insane and it became the only commentary.
Well its the price you pay....its funny to watch a nitpicker get absolutely triggered by bullshit....the price is well you have to put up with him being a nitpicking guy

The fact that the game gives you the option to discover a big secret early if you're a complete asshole and force Santa, Lotus and Clover to compete for their lives is a fucking incredible moment in gaming to me.
This game has a few ups with its mountain of downs.
I would never praise that scene considering Seven did as he was told for no reason
“Trust me, just do it” and he did
Also it makes 0 sense for those guys to compete as no one had to necessarily enter room 3 they could’ve simply make Junpei walk inside it to get rid of him for being an asshole or just letting the door close without no one entering and giving him a good old “what the heck is wrong with you?!!”
Both scenarios were seen before with the 9th man and it’s clear neither Seven nor Santa were okay with that. This means they all acted like idiots believing they had to enter that room no matter what.
@@edwardsuou Yeah, it definitely has its flaws like every other scene in the game lol
Oh no... just like Silent Hill 2
I recognize that "Easy mode is now selectable"!

"You actually like Zero-Escape"
Why does he become so obnoxious when streaming and lose any suspension of disbelief
Thanks for all the condensed stream videos.
Bro they fucking robbed that last puzzle, in the ds version it was a 9x9 sudoku puzzle
the DS also took advantage of its two screens to have a more impactful ending and realization
@@RM-xr8lq And also the writing was overall much better
9:27 HE DOESNT KNOW
It's funny how, with all the somewhat reasonable made up stuff June says, the literal frozen mummy that didn't melt is like the 1 single real thing
#sprinklergate 😔
Well its the price you pay....its funny to watch a nitpicker get absolutely triggered by bullshit....the price is well you have to put up with him being a nitpicking guy
Santa hates both Lucky Students
The Skyrim cutaway joke has damaged my trust in this entire video from the get-go.
1:15:57 You left out the part where he says that it's not just anime that does this.
Just timestamping for personal use: 1:49:44
If someone could point out where the "I'm sick of your shit" line is I'd appreciate it!
OMG I had a feeling Santa and Taka had the same VA, but it doesn't surprise me the games were made so close to each other and from the same producer...
But I would've never guessed it's also the VA for Diluc!!
2:20:42 lovely little noise
walrus this is such a great edit i love the effort you went to, especially the box minigame section
you could say you did.....very well
This man Googles 9 things 7 times but sees math and goes, nah.
I really love this series despite its flaws. Hearing Joe rip it to pieces is fucking hilarious lmao
The voice acting makes the delivery of the novel be way to funny-- on the original DS this was all read anyways, so it wasnt ridiculous XD
What Danganronpa reveal is he referring to at 1:46:40 ? Is it a specific character one?
V3 kirumi
Very well
I will go along with this
bro novel mode is wild I couldnt remember what mode I played on until he switched it. Watching this after the ocean gate fiasco is much funnier.
Bro the first few minutes of this and like. Joe has tapped into the morphogenic field how has he done this
56:16 god I can't never replay the game and not laugh at this part anymore😭
Joe bringing up Umineko in the beginning primed me to laugh when small bombs was brought up.
It really urks me how this game with ok writing has been destroyed by the modern ports. Like the writing was never great but having every character say a line 5 times in different ways is absolutely them wanting to show that they have voice acting now.
HE LOVES IT!
I had no idea Joseph Anderson had played all these games, thanks for putting these together! Do you have any plans to make similar vids for his Danganronpa playthroughs?
Joe's bamboozle actually got me so good I have to question if any stream is real anymore or simple am extreme gotcha
ITS NOT A 9 ITS A 6 UPSIDOWN
I think whenever I rewatch this and Joe goes off on his yawning rant it makes me yawn
Glasses, jacket, shirt
Call me glasses jacket Junpei
I love watching people get confused and frustrated by 999. It's like a special kind of Schadenfreude.
I'm gonna be honest, about half the time he's laughing at something I have no idea why he's laughing, and I'm the type of guy that laughs at the stupidest stuff
Not gonna lie though, Akane turning into Vsauce every time she dies is pretty funny.
Thats's why i love him
He laughs at everything
57:45 Danganronpa PTSD event.
Also, I made it into a video! Woo! 1:37:52
Too bad I lost everything.
That shit was both hilarious and frustrating as hell to watch. I would have been SO pissed
To this day, I still think this is the game that had Joe laughing the most.
You highlight warriors are very much appreciated~ ( ╹▽╹ )
Damn this guy must love anime
Great editing!
This is relevant to my interests.

This reminds me of a certain postmodern rpg.
Wow I never used novel mode cuz I decided to play the ds version after playing one route with just the talking on PC. I always assumes novel was the ds narration lolol
It isnt?
@@Kiwiiizzzit should be
I keep just imagining this guy talking to these characters in person and just laughing in their face at their absolutely absurd bs
