I love Chapter 1 so much. Kaede has such a vibe to her that makes her so likeable as a protagonist, & as much as I love Shuichi too it just won’t hit the same without her - at least until the plot really ramps up in the latter half of the game. Shout out to you for these amazing compilations as always.
yeah she's such a breath of fresh air compared to every other DR protagonist! not saying that i disliked the others, but they're all pretty much the same character archetype tbh. Kaede had a more defined personality from the get-go and is a more proactive leader type, so it felt like you were getting a different perspective of the Killing Game than usual
@@kulacuteI personally think Shuichi is a pretty great protagonist too, especially compared to the 1 and 2 protags. His character development is nice and he’s a pretty genuinely smart, personable, and emotional guy (who doesn’t constantly break his consistency in FTE’s like Hajime does). I also love his character relations, particularly with Kaito. He’s kind of the catalyst for my favorite character moments in the game, and his emotion I think cements him as a lot more human than any other DR game’s protag.

I said it in the actual episode, I'll say it again. As an avid fan of yo kai watch, I was presently surprised and happy with it being referenced in anything. It is very underrated outside of Japan and I think it deserves more attention.
Even better, the chode that did it pretty much came out a huge net loss. In related news, I'm not ready for more of these guys to die, they're some of my favorite Danganronpa characters so far 😭
The fact that they're using a guide for this play through is such a bummer. They said in the comments in the first video that it's a "spoiler free" guide which is ridiculous when it just straight up provides the answer to the question "Who is the culprit".
im not worried about that part at all. a) i think dan (or another gamer youtuber i watch) said that watching a show isnt the same as doing a show, and b) even w guides the lads never know who the culprit is. i remember later in dr2, arin selected a student as the killer and as he was switching to them he was like "oh this person? alright, i guess, the game'll explain it"

A huge pet peeve of mine is when a character says something like "what do you mean you're tired?" And they treat it like the characters dont know what being tired means
as the others said, you get a secret ending that hints at stuff for later AND you get a new theme for the monopad so its doesn't have to be the default look! and yes its meant to be INSANELY unfair and bullshit to justify everyone turning on kaede afterwards.
Someone tell me if I totally missed something but (Spoilers) Did Kaede commit the murder, then NOT take the "first blood" perk? If the perk is that you can just go, she could've gone free and avoided the chance that anyone else could possibly die from a mistrial. In fact, she might've been able to do something from the outside (At least she could assume so from what she knew at the time). Did she really let herself get killed because she was such good friends with people she knew for a day? If it's explained later, or I missed something, feel free to let me know, as these games are godawful at explaining anything.
she didn't take the first blood perk because she wanted to find out who the mastermind was and end the killing game. if she takes the perk and leaves, then the killing game would have continued like nothing happened. she thought since the cameras didn't take the picture of the mastermind like she'd hoped, by talking through all the evidence at the trial, they would have found out who the mastermind was, which is why throughout the whole thing she's desperately saying 'i will find the mastermind!'
(non-spoilers past Chap 1) adding to the previous comment: - at the time Monokuma asks the culprit to step forward Kaede doesn't know the mastermind evaded the cameras, and she wrongfully assumes an investigation would make their identity obvious - if she had taken the perk there wouldn't have been a trial at all, she believes in the idea that the mastermind is one of the 16 students and she's banking on the mastermind outing themselves in the trial when suspicion is aimed at the wrong person and they're also at risk of execution - she's pretty obsessed with the idea of everyone escaping together and being friends, and even if getting help was possible outing herself as a killer to escape by herself probably wouldn't go down well with the group
Thanks for explaining, I can now conclude she's not a total clown like I first thought, but still might fit into a circus. Personally I would've had some faith that the "ultimate detective" could take over, but whatever, it's Daganronpa, people have made much, MUCH dumber decisions.
to add some more: not only is she obsessed with catching out the mastermind, she also feels she needs to be punished for her crime. Rantaro was an innocent man and she murdered him, even if that wasn't her intention. Girl is feeeling mad levels of guilt and feels being found out is the only thing she can do, as she wants her death to help drive everyone forward as well. its a little foolish but she's in a pretty extreme situation and knowing you murdered a innocent man is NOT gonna do well for your mental health.

im not worried about that part at all. a) i think dan (or another gamer youtuber i watch) said that watching a show isnt the same as doing a show, and b) even w guides the lads never know who the culprit is. i remember later in dr2, arin selected a student as the killer and as he was switching to them he was like "oh this person? alright, i guess, the game'll explain it"

Did Kaede commit the murder, then NOT take the "first blood" perk? If the perk is that you can just go, she could've gone free and avoided the chance that anyone else could possibly die from a mistrial. In fact, she might've been able to do something from the outside (At least she could assume so from what she knew at the time).
Did she really let herself get killed because she was such good friends with people she knew for a day? If it's explained later, or I missed something, feel free to let me know, as these games are godawful at explaining anything.
she didn't take the first blood perk because she wanted to find out who the mastermind was and end the killing game. if she takes the perk and leaves, then the killing game would have continued like nothing happened. she thought since the cameras didn't take the picture of the mastermind like she'd hoped, by talking through all the evidence at the trial, they would have found out who the mastermind was, which is why throughout the whole thing she's desperately saying 'i will find the mastermind!'
(non-spoilers past Chap 1) adding to the previous comment:
- at the time Monokuma asks the culprit to step forward Kaede doesn't know the mastermind evaded the cameras, and she wrongfully assumes an investigation would make their identity obvious
- if she had taken the perk there wouldn't have been a trial at all, she believes in the idea that the mastermind is one of the 16 students and she's banking on the mastermind outing themselves in the trial when suspicion is aimed at the wrong person and they're also at risk of execution
- she's pretty obsessed with the idea of everyone escaping together and being friends, and even if getting help was possible outing herself as a killer to escape by herself probably wouldn't go down well with the group
Thanks for explaining, I can now conclude she's not a total clown like I first thought, but still might fit into a circus. Personally I would've had some faith that the "ultimate detective" could take over, but whatever, it's Daganronpa, people have made much, MUCH dumber decisions.

not only is she obsessed with catching out the mastermind, she also feels she needs to be punished for her crime. Rantaro was an innocent man and she murdered him, even if that wasn't her intention. Girl is feeeling mad levels of guilt and feels being found out is the only thing she can do, as she wants her death to help drive everyone forward as well.
its a little foolish but she's in a pretty extreme situation and knowing you murdered a innocent man is NOT gonna do well for your mental health.

I don't understand why the writers would introduce the "first killer gets to get off scot-free" rule if they never actually follow through on it anyway. Like, it seems like a potential gamechanger, but then it's just ignored later. These Danganronpa games are so absurd, I cannot fathom how they keep getting sequels. I guess anime aesthetic always sells. 😅
How is it ignored? It serves as a story driving device perfectly. Besides, it explains the reason why Kaede couldn't and didn't use it, her morals and personality. With Danganronpa being a character driven story it makes perfect sense.
And why does it keep getting sequels? I don't know, because people actually enjoy the games?
