  • Here i show you a quick rundown of some of the patches i use for playing at home or recording. I'm recording with my Ipod Touch, so sound isn't capturing the best guitar tone. All of these settings change as i am getting better at creating better guitar tones. None of the tones i show you are meant to sound like the real amp models, it is just amp models i use to make my own sound, or at times i like to create a specific tone off of any of my favorite bands etc.. I am using my Ibanez RG2ex1 stock pickups, Ampeg SS70 1X12 combo with a Celestion G12K-85 speaker. Feel free to ask any questions. Subscribe, Like, Comment.

    Little tip to all that wants to use this. Run a green overdrive pedal in front of this. It lights it up even more. Run it right in from input just the pedal.

      @TheSpineSplitter1990  6 лет назад

      YES! I sometimes run my Amptweaker Tight Drive just to get more gain/sustain out of some amp models that need it.

      Have you tried a tube power amp? It changes everything. The 1101 through a Mesa Fifty/Fifty or something like that makes the 1101 sound killer. Running direct I can't get into it.

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  10 лет назад

      nagol5178 Definitely been thinking about it. Was looking at the Carvin tube power amps, Matrix stuff and the Rocktron Velocity power amps..But money's tight right now. But i am thinking of buying a power amp and a good 2x12 cabinet.

    • @nagol5178
      @nagol5178 10 лет назад

      Do not get the Carvin. Message me if you want info. I have reviews of both. I own the Carvin TS-100 tube power amp. It's not as loud as the Mesa 50/50 with the Mesa on 15 watts. It's really not great for guitar. I use a mesa 50/50 into a mesa 2x12 cab as well as a Carvin 2x12 cab. Carvin makes good stuff but trust me, that power amp isn't great.

      OldskoolDM80s90s The best power amp that I can vouch for for this unit is the Mosvalve 962. It's solid state, but not as cold and harsh sounding as a typical SS power amp. It's 80 watts is comparable to tube watts in terms of perceived volume (I never go past 10 on the dial, playing with a loud drummer). It adds a little bit of warmth and punch, without the distorting and microphonics that a tube power amp typically would (my basis for comparison on this was a Mesa simul 295).

      +TheSpineSplitter1990 I 'm a Metalhead and I have played different preamps (mainly an ADA MP-2) into ADA, & diff Mosvalves' poweramps. I went with a Digitech G300 20 yrs ago. Everyone that has had one thinks It blows the other SS's away. Huge and warm! If you can find one. Jerry Cantrel used a Mosvalve for yrs w/ a Fish Preamp but I think they sound alittle flat in my opinion.

    These are some insane tones you got here dude.I'm getting one of these should be arriving in a couple days,and i don't know what to expect.I'm a little skeptical about downloading the firmware afraid I'll download it and it somehow wrecks the preamp.Anyway I don't have the correct usb yet so I'm wondering if i could get a nice tight metal tone with the stock firmware until i get the usb.Now I'm aware it won't sound nearly as sick and tight as these but something tht would get me started

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  9 лет назад

      ha ck Thanks man, I have had zero problems upgrading the firmware. But you don't have to if you don't want to, you can still get some great tones out of it. The USB cable i am using is a standard printer cable. To be honest the stock presets aren't that great, even the Axe FX, POD HD and Eleven Rack have horrible stock presets. The Marshall 77 Master Volume, JCM800, JCM900, the DigiTech GSP2101 Artist Saturated Tube and even the Carvin Legacy model is pretty good for metal. I would suggest using the Tubescreamer to boost or tighten the sound. Also the stock cabinet models are really useful, like the British, Vintage and the Rectifier 4x12 are the most i use. Also the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier is a good one but it took me a while to figure out a patch.. When you get your preamp let me know and I'll send you the settings.

      Thank you for the reply dude,but yeah im overthinkin the whole firmware thing. I might as a well do it,and I really would appreciate that if you don't mind.I can only imagine how much time it took to come up with those tones.Oh yeah and one last question a noob one so beware lol,can i play the gsp as if it was a regular amp i have two SS so if i need to i can use them but don't know if it was mandatory

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  9 лет назад

      ha ck You can use the preamp as your main amp and use the power section of an amplifier by using the effects loop in your GSP and Amp.

      Awesome, I agree its not that great recording directly into a PC but i had some pretty good results. Best way is to download the latest firmware C63 at Mustbebeta.com Also downloading some Cabinet Impulses will give it a huge difference in tone.

    • @t00talbr00tal

    I just came across this video! Great job on the patches! By any chance do you still have the files you made for the GSP? I have an RP500 and would like to see if I can get those tones working with xedit.

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  8 лет назад

      Yes I still have them, Probably one of the best pieces of gear I ever bought... I have uploaded the patches on the Digitech website. They are under the name Breeding The Spawn, and you can download them here - www2.digitech.com/soundcomm/guitar_list_patches.asp?productid=235

      I have made some minor tweaks in the patches and also uploaded different impulses that are much better, If you get it working with your RP500 just experiment on what sounds good.

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  10 лет назад

      Hey man, i would give this preamp a 9 out of 10 only because there is no more official support from the Digitech Co. Mustbebeta has been updating the software, adding extra effects/amp models, ability to load up to 10 of your favorite Impulse responses etc.. This preamp shines best when you update the firmware to c63 which is the latest thanks to Mustbebeta. All in all its a super versatile preamp, very responsive, good for live use or home studio. If you will be using this preamp only for effects it doesn't color or affect the sound of your original amps tone. Keep a look out on my channel, I will do a quick playthrough of all the effects sometime today.

      Achmad Taufik No problem for which preset? First thing you should do is upgrade the firmware so you can get those extra amp and effects etc.

    Hey dude it's me again lol,thinking bout expanding and getting a cheap power amp but was wondering. I think i already kno the answer but just making sure before i get it but, I wouldnt need a cab or anything right?

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  9 лет назад

      ha ck You need a power amp if you are thinking about using your Digitech to a speaker cabinet.

    • @groovenx3145
      @groovenx3145 9 лет назад

      Oh well that sucks,looking for a way to update my setup on a budget going to direct to pc sucks and tired of using my small ss its not enough.oh well thnx btw

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  9 лет назад +1

      ha ck What you can do is look for a cheap Powered PA Speaker so that you can hook up the Digitech to the powered speaker and no power amp is needed because the PA monitor is already powered.

  • @Cmonkey49
    @Cmonkey49 7 лет назад

    Why do you have the distortion turned on for all of these sounds? The amp models are good enough if pair with right cabinet.

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  7 лет назад +1

      I am using the tube screamer as a clean boost, no distortion at all.

  • @iamthemilanster

    Is there anyway you can explain the signal chain from guitar ending at the cabinet. I have no idea about this digital equipment. Used to tube amps and classic pedals man. Much appreciated!

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  10 лет назад

      Sure, so it starts with Guitar into front of Preamp/ Processor, then Preamps line outputs to power amp inputs and then speaker cab into power amp.

      RICK J Hey, You have to download the latest firmware which is vC63 which improves a couple things, adds a few extra amp models like the Peavey 5150, Orange 100 head, Randall RG100, Mesa Boogie Triple Rec, 2 new overdrives, EQ's and 10 slots to add your favorite Cabinet Impulses. Also fixes some issues and improves tone. You can download the firmware at www.mustbebeta.com/

    as my name suggets, you can run this through a combo amp?and if so how?

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  10 лет назад

      Yes you can run this through a combo. There's a few ways, To effects loops if your amp has them, Straight into the front input of an amp or you can do the four cable method. Mine is set up so guitar is plugged in front of GSP, then got a cable plugged in the Amp Return Left line output of gsp and that runs into the effects loop power amp input of my Ampeg.

      enamsenar Hey man, looks like the site is down, best thing to do is wait it out. I'm pretty sure its just doing some maintenance. I don't have the file cause I'm on a new pc but i will try to find it and I'll get back to you if i still have it. Other people are having the same problem so I would just wait until its back up running.

    i really need someones help with trying to somehow make this an amp head and plug it SOMEHOW into an amp cab? i know this can be done as it is done with line 6's pod pro and axe fx 2
    if someone has ANY insight please let me know. looking to go digital with an amp model into a speaker cab, just to clarify
    all help is appreciated

    • @TheSpineSplitter1990
      @TheSpineSplitter1990  10 лет назад

      Hey man, definitely it can be done. You will need a power amp in order to play any preamp/ processor whether it be Line 6 Pod, Axe FX, Eleven Rack etc..to play through a speaker cabinet. You can go with either a Tube Power Amp or Solid State.

    The Mesa sound is a little unrealistic. These units always miss the real flavour of an actual Mesa head or combo. I have the Triaxis V2 and the Simulclass 2:90 poweramp and playing through the real thing completely obliterates the Digitech and all others also. Overall the GSP is a good unit but there is always the digital artifacts in the tone that noone has been able to overcome and I say that for the AxeFX and Kemper also.
