Thank you for this great vid. This is by far the best and most concise vid I have come across on the subject. I just started suspecting I have a major B1 deficiency 2 weeks ago when I had a worsening of numbness and swelling in feet and ankles and decided to investigate causes. I have all the symptoms you listed. Sure wish I had known decades ago that the profuse facial sweating I get in the slightest humidity (which really was a problem on outdoor film shoots - they had to powder me every 20 minutes) is a B1 deficiency. Now watching your vid, I realize my son’s physical and mental health problems which led to wrong and harmful treatment causing permanent damage, are actually from severe lifelong B1 deficiency. He even had symptoms as a baby. He had a gut problem from a gastric infection which caused diarrhea and celiac-like malabsorption to the point of some small patches of vitiligo forming. I remember reading at the time that vitiligo can be from B deficiency and that long term gut problems cause lack of VitB production. He had severe ADHD from an early age, not diagnosed until age 17. Never treated. Brilliant kid, top marks in school, but horrendous defiant behaviour outside of school led to confrontations with authority, jailing and psychiatric treatment which just destroyed him. I honestly think all the stress from the simple fact that he was severely depleted in B1 early in life, plus our terribly stressful life circumstances causing ongoing depletion, caused his behaviour and all his life long issues. Heartbreaking that such a small thing can cause the loss of such a brilliant talented person from society. Why on earth don’t doctors tell us this could be the cause? I am so sad that this knowledge could have saved him from a life of suffering. Me too. I believe a tendency to low B1 production and a need for higher amounts than usual may be hereditary. My mother decades ago used to say she thought our family should all be taking B vitamins for our nerves. I don’t know where my son is and he hasn’t answered calls or texts in a month, but I am going to send him this info. He has always been really interested in supplements and Vitamins and takes many, but overdoes the amounts from what he tells me. I know he took far too much zinc, and I see that depletes B1! Anyway thank you again for this really informative vid.
I loved this. I was slightly worried I had symptoms of MS with the nerve pain in the toes, terribly restless legs….but I also have acid reflux and some of the other things! I’m going to assume I have a B1 deficiency and treat my body as such before I worry any more about MS! I’m also always very tired but I do have a severely underactive thyroid. Thanks so much!!! 🌹
I went through this. It was terrifying and went undiagnosed for nearly a year. I figured out what was going on by watching a random Dr Berg video talking about the lesser known stranger symptoms of a b1 deficiency. I then found my way over to Elliot Overton and his granular detailed videos on b1 deficiency and how to bring things back.
Please advise on correct dosage including doses for 85 year old females!!!Me! We are often left out of the picture. I correspond to. 9 of the criteria in fact could you devote one whole program to needs and cautions for the elderly. Would be greatly appreciated!!!
This is good stuff in this video. Consider too, that the B vitamins work in sync with each other, if you are deficient in one, the rest do not perform all that well . Additionally, about 50% of people have the MTHFR gene mutation which means you need methylated B12 and Folate in order to utilize them property, and thus, B1. How can you tell if you have the MTHFR gene mutation, a simple DNA test or a tell tail sign is actually at your tailbone. Look in the mirror and if you have a dimple right above your butt you likely have the mutation. Google the MTHFR gene dimple and see examples. If you have it, take a full B complex making sure that the Folate and B12 are the methylated form. Read more on any medical website.
I don't know if I have that genetic mutation, but I took them methylated B12 sublingual one time that a doctor gave me and I was sicker than a dog from that. It's pretty scary for me to think about trying that again.
A lot of nuance to this. Allithiamine can produce quite strong paradoxical reactions in people. Low magnesium needs to be adressed for B1 to work properly. Chronic infections can get worse from B-vitamin supplementation, so if that is a root cause behind neurogolical symptoms one needs to thread lightly.
I found this video to be more informative with greater details then the previous similar video on B1. Thanks for your detailed work and including test which can or can't be done, common doses, plus quality brands and identification methods so I know how to relate too and better understand my Doctor when diagnosing my issues.

No flesh? Therein lies your problem. I am assuming you are vegan? Vegan diets are the worst for the human physiology. Meat from animals, particularly the fat, is essential to human survival. If you don't eat meat, you will be lacking in several key vitamins, particularly vit A, as it needs fat to be bioavailable. On a vegan diet you will not be able to utilise the fat soluble vitamins and over time, will develop issues. Humans are meant to eat meat and have been programmed in our DNA to do so. Check out some of the carnivore doctors ie Dr Ken Berry and research for yourself. Plants are very difficult for the Human to process and irritate the gut. Some people can manage, but if you have major health issues you need to reconsider everything you have been told about the human diet. Dr Berry, Dr Anthony Chaffee on you tube is a good place to start.
I would recommend getting your B1 level checked before starting B1 supplements. I had some signs of B1 deficiency (I thought) and started supplementing with benfotiamine which is a strong form of B1 and I now have way too much B1 according to a recent blood test. B1, like B6, apparently can have similar symptoms whether you are deficient or are overdosing on them. I am feeling better now that I have stopped taking B1.

Yes sugars are hidden everywhere even sometimes in our vitamins. One needs to read the labels with a magnifying glass because these companies like to hide things in fine print.
Thank you for this wonderfully hopeful answer! Even though my ha1c is 5.3, I have huge spikes that last for hours during the day. Only now, after having hot, tingling soles of my feet for two years am I starting to understand the importance of reducing those spikes. I had been vegan when my symptoms came on and then switched to carnivore, but no symptom change. Now I am going for low lettuce/berries carb, mod avocado/almond butter fat and mod fish/egg protein. I still find it so hard to go more than a couple of hours without eating and i wake up in the early hours starving, but I am praying it works. I've tried every supplement under the sun but they havent made a difference sadly@RyanTaylorNaturalRemedies
Generally speaking, I don't advise many synthetics. However in this particular case, it is more absorbing. Normal vitamin B1 is water soluble, but benfotiamine (the synthetic) is fat soluble. This means that it can cross the fatty outer layer of tissue around nerves and the brain, to penetrate more quickly and heal the nerves from within, and there are lots of studies backing this up, with very little/no side effects. 💚

My diet is very healthy i mostly eat things like fish, vegetables, some fruits and berries. But yes possible at the time it happened i wasn’t as aware of hidden ingredients that can turn to sugar in the body but also i wasn’t paying attention to having all the B vitamins also taking Magnesium as i had heart flutters and no doctor could tell me why, all due to low magnesium, the flutters stoped now because i take Magnesium daily. I have a great diet and take all my vitamins so my condition didn’t get worse it’s either stable or might be even getting better. Thank you for your reply.
What's nutritional yeast? Normal backing yeast? Can it not cause yeast infektions in your Body?
See Bragg's nutritional yeast in supplement aisles. It is not the yeast you make bread with.
Good! ❤️❤️❤️
when i take it my feet burn like crazy
I was taught not to take synthetic forms of any kind of vitamin so why are they suggesting it and saying synthetic is more absorbing?
Generally speaking, I don't advise many synthetics. However in this particular case, it is more absorbing. Normal vitamin B1 is water soluble, but benfotiamine (the synthetic) is fat soluble. This means that it can cross the fatty outer layer of tissue around nerves and the brain, to penetrate more quickly and heal the nerves from within, and there are lots of studies backing this up, with very little/no side effects. 💚
Thank you for getting back to me. How much should you take and can you take it indefinitely or only for a certain period of time ?
@@livinat1957 There are some videos on yt that I found helpful. Dr Peter Osborne, Dr Eric Berg and E O Nutrition.
That goes for everything but B1 Benfo… (I forgot the rest of the word)

I think I will continue to narrate my work clearly thank you. Not sure what you are referring to.
@@RyanTaylorNaturalRemedies your accent is fake. Tell the truth- where are you really from. Your not even a doctor - just another scammer
