Thanks for the memories. I stayed on the 2nd floor of Building 61 but did not have a oceanview. Yes, I went over to Grand Memories sometimes and La Estrella, but at night, I stayed in the lobby and snacked here and had a few drinks.. I prefer the less crowds at times over here. If I go back another time, I will stay here again. I am staying at the Royalton this year to be pampered after being locked in since last year March with COVID controls. It is one of the few resorts that I will return to. I am just going to treat myself this year next door Great video.

First time flying to the Caribbean in June 2019 or anywhere in fact (fear of flying), went solo and spent a week at Sanctuary Grand Memories, the travel agent got me third floor ocean view in Bungalow 61!!! So happy to revisit the same Bungalow. Cayo Santa Maria beach is breathtaking. The highlight for me was taking the day Gaviota tour to Santa Clara, Camajuaní, & Remedios where I stocked up on rhum, cigars and some hand made leather sandals in the town square. Hi Kevin, I would say that if you are beach goers you will want to get to the beach early to get your chairs and shade if you want it. I found that for supper the best a la carte was going to the one in the lobby. They had a different menu each night and the food was the best there compared to the other places on the neighbouring resorts that you have access to. Other than that just enjoy the beautiful resort and friendly staff 😊
Hiya! I flew solo, and I felt super safe! Took a day tour with Gaviota tours to Santa Clara, Camajuani & Remedios, everyone was polite, helpful, & friendly. Loved it! I almost preferred being on the tour than the resort, except for the beach, it is breathtaking! Just be wary of jellyfish, aka “aguamala”, I was warned about them and I got stung. It’s uncomfortable but not unbearable, the lifeguard Jaillier got some vinegar to spray on the sting area. The pain went away after a few hours. Cheers from Montreal 🇨🇦 p.s. You are not stuck here, you can go over to Grand Memories for a change of scene. It is very busy there. I used to go to the lobby and the pool area there when it was too quiet. Yet, I would prefer to be based at the Sanctuary.
Hi Kevin, Sanctuary is Adults Only so there are no kids. I found the majority of guests were in that 35-55 range but of course there were some older and some college aged people too.
I am in the U.S. I am somewhat perplexed as to why Americans have to be so busy...ie..cooking, site seeing ect. They dont what us just lounging on the beach all day. Im all for site seeeing but if I decided to bring my handicapped sister. We would be SOL. Can someone explain this to me. Thank you..
You dont go to Latin American countries for the food...okay maybe Mexico, and totally off the resorts.. but Cuban and Mexican are the better ones. 2022 Worst times for Cuba economically, yet the food was was still decent. We didn't pay for 5 star, so Didnt go expecting 5 star. We went totally didnt knowing what to expect. It was rough but still okay. Went for the Beach and CUBA..not for American/ Canadian food service level. You need to adjust your expectations for Cuba, they have an economic blockade from the good ol U.S of A.
@@zochbuppet448 thats truth ..but last resort "memories varadero " is night mare ..owners should at least keep in mind that they people need something to eat except banana chips and some bread and carrot ..2 days out of 7 they served meat ...

I don't think that a laptop will fit in the safe, we did get our 10" iPad in it but was a tight fit.

What was the general age range of guests?

I’ve been to Cuba 3 times already but going in 4th this Aug. food to me isn’t a big deal rather than you starve .
