This isn't the first time in the series that we see electricity, we also see it with one of Nappa's attacks back in the Saiyan saga. I think the electricity is more to represent unstable ki (though this is just my head canon).
Its hinted that he's using a bit of ultra instinct in the super saiyan blue form. Like when trunk turns into super saiyan rage its hinted he's using a bit of god ki in the super saiyan form.
I'd like to add that some people say that Trunks surpassed Vegeta. But I'd to say that Vegeta was able to push even further with that grade 2 form, but chose not to because he knew of the downside of the form. Same way Goku noticed it, Vegeta is just as knowledgeable with transformations. Trunks was the rookie that just kept pushing.
@@alexglenn2122 I think vegeta comment about that's why he didnt use it. Trunks said that he was surpassing his father so I dont think he knew vegeta had the form.

Black Reaper I was talking about during the CELL saga. Yes Vegeta does become Super Saiyan 2 later on after the Cell Saga. What I am trying to say is: Both Vegeta and Gohan AND EVEN Future Trunks and Goku surpassed Super Saiyan, but Gohan did it RIGHT. Vegeta and Future Trunks did it WRONG, and Goku only mastered the first Super Saiyan level and used it's full power.
Grades 1 and 2 may consume too much energy to be practical in combat, but i've always thought they'd have a very practical use in training, specifically to increase endurance and energy efficiency/control. Essentially, they'd be forms that replace the weighted clothing and increased gravity chambers of previous arcs. Imagine if a character like, say, Vegeta had applied the training method Goku had applied to Grade 1 in the hyperbolic time chamber - stay in the form as long as possible until the body adapted to it and the base energy pool you had access to increased so much that you could stay in that form indefinitely - and applied it to the higher grades, essentially "upping the difficulty levels" to achieve a higher mastery.
Staying in super saiyan for days on end will help maintain and reduce draining of energy But training in super saiyan as stated multiple times in the anime slows down their progress they gain more power training in their base forma
@@distortiontildeafness grade 1 is the forms trunks and vegeta are in when vegeta fights Stage 2 Cell and when Vegeta and trunks foght each other. What about the 1st dragonballz budokai game when they called it "super trunks" and "super trunks 2" o know it's just a game but just wanted to add the extra knowledge.....
By your logic, you’re stating that super saiyan grades 2 and 3 are transformations because they change the shape and the hair gets spikier, also Toriyama recently said that the super saiyan 2 and 3 are just powered up versions of the super saiyan for a few years ago
As far as I know, the name "Super" for Vegeta trunks etc came from a lot of the games, as I remember in Final bout and UB22 both having Super Goku as a different form to super saiyan (probably translated wrong as it wasn't ss grade 2 or 3)

@Geekdom101 great content as always, I'd like to hear your thoughts on which SSJ form you think is a more power efficient form and would like to see used more.
Rashawn Jordan just to toss in my $.02 if they can all be mastered like regular ssj was then ssj2 is probably the most efficient for a power over energy need/consumption.
Rashawn Jordan we also have yet to see what a mastered ssj3 could produce. It’s very probable that if it can be mastered on the same level as ssj that it could be the most efficient.
Grade 2/Super Vegeta is super saiyan pushed to its max output before drawbacks emerge. He peaked the form. He knew when it was pushed as far as it could go. Any further and you got a grade three Trunks debacle. It does use more stamina but you still maintain plenty of speed and agility.
Exactly, I think this form is stronger than grade 4, yeah it consumes more energy, stamina and maybe makes you fight worse because you are more nervous , but stronger
Having read the manga only up to the end of the Freeza arc, I'm actually very interested to have learned that Vegeta stopped using this form by the Cell Games, in the manga. I never understood why Vegeta continued using it and didn't seem to develop at all, following his fight with Cell, despite having learned about how Goku and Gohan unlocked the greater Super Saiyan power and spending another year in the Room of Spirit and Time. I get why the animators chose to remain on-model for his newer look, but I'm glad that Toriyama, at least, addressed this, to some degree.
I mean, it would be totally on brand for Vegeta to be stubborn and keep trying to push his path further beyond what Goku was doing rather than follow in his footsteps lol But it is good he had the wisdom to set aside his pride and try to figure out where he went wrong
Things like this makes me wonder what the big diffrence was between Gokus regular SSJ form from Namek to when he battled Cell. Not talking about how Goku was stronger but the transformation.
"Buff form" seems like an ability anyone in the Dragonball universe can do. Most races featured seem to possess a version of it. "Ascended Saiyan" seems like it's simply Super Saiyan plus "buff form".
The biggest confusion was caused by the dub itself by refering to both Super Vegeta/USSJ states as well as SSJ2 as "Ascended Saiyan" or "ascended to the next level". Goku vs. Majin Buu is the first to finally call it SSJ2.
About grade two having the effect that Vegetas hair turned longer reminds me of the SSJ3 transformation. I’m not sure where I heard it but isn’t that form a (energy-) pumped up version of the SSJ2? Like a grade 2 for SSJ2 but being it’s own transformation. A well what do I know but it certainly sounds interesting
The electrical discharge is coming from the final flash, not from the form. The discharges are all coming from Vegeta’s cupped hands. On the wide shot we don’t see the hands but given that they’re the origin when close up, we can reasonably assume the discharge is coming from the hands in the wide shots.
Nice to see a mention of the hair becoming a bit more wild/thick. That aspect of the design tends to get less remembered, due to the more noticeable bulking up of the form. Even the games seldomly alters the hair slightly for that form when it appears in them. I believe Budokai 1 had that extra attention to detail put into Super Vegeta's model, though.
Daizenshuu pretty much states that the Super Saiyan must use Ki to inflate the muscles in order to draw out more Super Saiyan power. So Grade 2, 3, and 4 are essentially about drawing out more of the Super Saiyan potential but Grade 2 and 3 do it by inflating the muscles in the Grade 1 state while the flaws of Grade 1 are minimized or negated in Grade 4 which is another way of drawing out more Super Saiyan power.
Super Saiyan Blue is a form that combines the power of Super Saiyan God with the first Super Saiyan form, so i would assume that with enough training they can do a form that combines the power of Super Saiyan God with the second Super Saiyan form and third Super Saiyan form. i also assume that vegeta's Blue Evolved form is a form that combines the power of Super Saiyan God with the Ascended Super Saiyan form.
Yo this was my favorite form for Vegeta because to me it was his most iconic form to me during the Androids Arc of the story. Even later in the Frieza Saga with his desire to become the most powerful by any means necessary even exploiting boosts in power through multiple parts of this arc and even later in the Androids Saga with his obsession of wanting to surpass Goku. And more importantly during that arc his relationship with his son Trunks, who even refers to Vegeta as being lonely which is what us as the audience wouldn’t be a characteristic associated with Vegeta, and Trunks knows this by not only his observation but also the observation of his mother. Going into the Majin Buu Arc this is pushed to its natural breaking point where we see that Vegeta has developed a better relationship with his son and even wife, living at Capsule Corp after the death of his greatest rival Goku seven years prior during the battle with Cell.
What's interesting to note in terms of the electricity surrounding vegeta is yellow and ssj2 electricity is blue and looks thinner and even when gohan gets hit by cell when he powered up Gohan's electricity becomes violent it seems to be not just a high level of power but his anger too.
Power up in ssg1 means you just draw out more power at constant rate. Transformation is like tapping into a higher overall pool of power. Think llike microscope. You pick level 10x and then you focus it up and down to see best pictures. Then suddenly realize hey i can use 100x and see even better.
I like to refer to that form as Ultra Super Saiyan which I also consider Broly Legendary Super Saiyan form as Ultra Super Saiyan because the muscles are all bulky like trunks did
One thing that I have to disagree with is the point of electricity you brought up. I have always noticed this during the Final Flash move, no matter the form Vegeta is in, that it has electricity. I feel it was used more for the the technique of the Final Flash rather than the transformation (grade 2) itself. Also it is more of a golden color (in the anime) then the more white/blue that we see in super saiyan 2. However this is just a feeling I have and don't really have evidence to back it up.
I wouldn't say Blue evolution is a homage. Goku explained that blue is basically the super saiyan transformation using god ki. I think Blue Evolution was Vegeta using SS Grade 2 + god ki.
I don't think this is the case. The power multiplier for SS Grade 2 is under 2x that of SS since SS2 is a 100x total multiplier. I'm guessing that SSBE is roughly a 20x of SSB multiplier since in that form Vegeta appears to be comparable in strength to Goku with the SSB KK x20.
That's crazy you mentioned Curtis Hoffman cause his name would pop up alot in the 90's when it came to DB and dbz but I never knew why his name was mentioned, I thought he was a developer or voice actor or something.
Trunks went SSJ Grade 3 in Super, not Grade 2 since Grade 2 is known for being a sluggish transformation. Trunks even stated after Cell decided to not kill him, that it's sluggish nature was the reason for Vegeta not to switch to Grade 3.
Pretty sure the electricity on vegeta was just because of the final flash, not the form

I feel it was used more for the the technique of the Final Flash rather than the transformation (grade 2) itself. Also it is more of a golden color (in the anime) then the more white/blue that we see in super saiyan 2. However this is just a feeling I have and don't really have evidence to back it up.
Vegeta's ascended form is the best looking. who agrees?
I guess me.
I don't know roid trunks is pretty cool..
I prefer Super Vegeta Blue.
that and his Majin form
@@brando3424 dang forgotten about that.....it's close
Hey Greekdom are you doing all the forms in the series ?
Geekdom please do a video explaining the mess with funamtion and toai and sean schemel.
"Goku awakened from his coma caused by the heart virus, healed up and determined more than ever" The Goku we needed in DBS😭😭
I love when they bring up the *manga* *chapters* for supporting backup
😌
I wouldn't say Blue evolution is a homage. Goku explained that blue is basically the super saiyan transformation using god ki. I think Blue Evolution was Vegeta using SS Grade 2 + god ki.
I don't think this is the case. The power multiplier for SS Grade 2 is under 2x that of SS since SS2 is a 100x total multiplier. I'm guessing that SSBE is roughly a 20x of SSB multiplier since in that form Vegeta appears to be comparable in strength to Goku with the SSB KK x20.
Oh yea
Very informative I love it
I always thought the lightning surrounding Super Vegeta had more to do with the Final Flash than his form, per se.
Homage aside, do you think its possible to have grade 2 (+) versions of other forms such as SS2 and beyond 🤔
Absolutely :)
Vegeta: are you ready to witness a power not seen for thousands of years??
And later on, Vegeta reaches a power not seen for MILLIONS of years.
or ever
Geekdom do you have super sayian 2 transformation guide
Even today there's so much people that thinks this form is slower than regular ssj
My all time favorite transformation and my favorite chapter in dragon ball
