Watching old Byrd shuffle about as he performed his bailiff duties was as exciting as watching paint dry! Had he shown the same the same personality as he showed in this interview, maybe he would have been invited to participate in Judge Judy's new show.
Exactly! Just say I'm starting something new and will be choosing a new staff. She's worth a half a billion dollars. Had she wanted him, she could definitely have afforded him. Her show found $47 million a year for her to be condescending to people. 😏
That’s why any opportunity I get for a better job, I’m leaving my current job to do it. I’m only loyal to myself and what benefits my family! Right thru!
It makes me really sad in a society, this is how we have to be. I’m experiencing a coming of age moment in my life where I previously genuinely looked out for all others and their best interest for the greater good of all in situations. I’m slowly learning (the hard way) the world is a bit darker than I thought. Kind of sad. Humans are trash.
After hearing him say "they have never even had lunch together in 25yrs", I understand why she didn't ask him to be on the new show. They were just coworkers but being a two person act, a phone call saying "I'm doing my own thing" would have been a nice gesture.
They were NOT co-workerS. It was her show and she was his employer. His contract ended and she chose not to continue to employ him. Much to his and all of us surprise.
@@sandramarshall8127, Actually they both had contacts with the network and she was not his employer. I’m sure she had say so about whose on the show but she didn’t pay him directly. They could have replaced her and kept him if the network wanted.
@@Onika0325the whole judge and bailiff act/front was to draw viewers, so they present as a team. To create a vision, fraudulent as it was. And as far as being cold and indifferent, she doesn't have to act outside of who she is. There is no acting there.
I don't think it had to do anything with price (or may be it did a bit). My speculation is that main reason Officer Byrd wasn't approached was that Judy wanted her grand daughter to be launched who is an unknown face, a newcomer. So on Judge Judy, Judy is the main star and after her Officer Byrd gets all the attention, so is he is there Judy's grand daughter won't be getting the kind of traction Judy may have wanted her to get. I don't know... its a far fetched theory, but seems a like a reason to me Judy won't ask him to return, because as they say... family comes first.
Officer Byrd doesn't say a word about the loot💰 he accumulated while at the service of 🎭JUDGE JUDY.He just 🤑couldn't get enough.I'm sure he wasn't just let go empty handed😂
That's probably more "it" than anything else. Judy REALLY wanted her granddaughter to be a part of the show, and maybe she thought Byrd, after being around for 25 years, might "compete" with the presence of her granddaughter, even though in a lot of episodes, Byrd didn't really do or say much. The NEW bailiff REALLY doesn't say or do much, and that's probably by design. I miss Byrd being there, but the new show has its appeal, as Judy has the granddaughter on the internet checking on stuff while the trial is going, and I kind of like the after-trial discussions that they have. And I KNOW Judy likes that.
I just love your comment on the workforce. America's workforce is the absolute pits but luckily us millennials don't stick around for much bs like Byrd's generation. Byrd's generation is taught to get a job and keep it for 40 to 50 years until you retire. Millennials know what time it is, that companies like to underpay, treat us as disposable, get rid of us, so we are constantly trying to advance and shut the door on jobs quickly. I wouldn't have it any other way.

She is the talent!!! 1. She negotiated her contract. She did not have a gun to the network’s head and make them pay what she negotiated. She is the talent! Clearly she didn’t want him and that is her prerogative. Finally she is the talent!

I’m really disappointed in the judge. If her new show is going to be like the old one then she should never have chosen money over a loyal employee. I could see if it’s going to be something different, but it doesn’t sound like it and especially when she said he priced himself out of it. Greed makes people so ugly.
My late grandmother couldn't stand her she told me that that's the nasty attitude woman very disrespectful and she got the nerve to tell him he priced himself out When she signed a Multi-million dollar contract for herself
What does price yourself out mean? 35 years of knowing her, 25 years of service and having her back. She couldnt respect him enough to give him a better reason.🙍🏾♀ Wow
As my good friend, Johnny "Hitman" Martarano used to say: "it's nothing personal, it's just business." It's not like he provided comic relief or had a quirky personality to play off the no B.S. @@silkrtf Judge Judy does not own or have any involvement in directing or producing the show. She is just an employee and nothing more. Those type of hiring decisions are made by TV Executives. For whatever reason, the TV Execuives decided to go in a different direction and hire someone else. He was a school counselor and school safety officer here in Foster City, Ca. in the 90's. Not only did he help change the lives of the kids, but always took interest in helping his co-workers and anyone that needed guidance. A great sense of humor too. Bryd is a great man, and deserved a better farewell from the show, and most definitely deserved a call from Judy letting him know that she wasn't having him back. At the very least, she should have called him, not the other way around.
Thanks for sharing this information about him! That speaks volumes about the type of person he is. I pray he and his family be blessed. Her response to him is not at all surprising to me.This gentleman is a classy guy, even in spite of the way she chose to treat him.
Good, then take the loaded millionaire back. Because ONLY of Judge Judy, she employed him and his wife, made that family so many easy fng millions. Byrd was making over a million a year alone. His contract ended in the show ended. His wife was also a producer on the show. If you go and listen to some his other interviews she didn't tell him about the new show from what he said. He found out about the new show and contacted her. Her granddaughter Judy and someone else put this new show together and they wanted to have fresh new energy. This man made a great deal of money he had 25 years of experience he's old nothing more. With that being said she could have contacted him and gave him a heads-up so he wouldn't have been blindsided. At the end of the day I don't feel sorry for him. Some people are in our lives for a moment a season and a lifetime. They had a working business relationship nothing more nothing less. He's coming off as being entitled listen to some of the statements that he put out in the other interviews. Plus all of this attention he's been offered some new opportunities he should take that and milk that for what it's worth. When it's time to move on you can't take the same energy in the same people with you everywhere you go it's just not going to work. We have to have these type of experiences in order to elevate higher and to move forward and to grow. Look he's going to be fine
Clearly, she looked at Byrd as the help, albeit very well paid help. It's her show and she can do what she wants, but this was handled in a classless, tacky manner. Judge Judy may find that her show has just run out of steam. Sometimes it's better to quit while you're ahead.
Don't pull a muscle with that reaching. Byrd is a grown ass man who's work contract sadly came to an end with an amazing 2.5 Million dollar net worth, what an amazing future he and his family can have with his fruits.

Actually, I like the new guy energy. It's the total opposite of Byrd. May be that's a clue of why he was left out. We only have Byrd's point of view on this matter. I don't even think that's really our business, now that I'm writting this.
I will never look at Judge Judy the same way after this. As a law student I have always admired her no nonsense approach to the law. To think that she never shared a meal with Byrd in 25 years. How is that possible. I just started a new paralegal job last week and my attorney is taking me out to lunch this week so she can get to know me better. Lawyers are always inviting their colleagues out for drinks, dinner sporting events etc. It’s just apart of the work culture. She must have really looked at Byrd as simply the help and nothing more. I wish continued prosperity on Byrd and his family.
When you become a lawyer will you be required or expected to take your support staff with you if you move to a more successful law firm or become a judge yourself at some point? You are working as a paralegal now. Ask your boss if he or she is taking you with them if a better opportunity for them arises.
@@Must-love-all-dogs I’ve actually seen that happen several times. It’s very common in the legal field for people to take their colleagues with them as they move up the ranks or they at least try to maintain the relationship in some way after they part ways. The field is a tough one and not everyone has the stomach for it so when you find a good working relationship you want to keep that going as long as you can.
As a law student, you should know better than anyone there's something called nuance and three sides to every story. If you even watched the show the past 10 years, you'd know Byrd has mentally checked out of his job long ago. He's always playing crossword puzzles, is constantly irritable and gruff with the litigants, and barely engaged with the Judge when asked questions or to share any quips. Why would any employer continue to pay a tenured bailiff a million dollars a year who can't even fake enjoying his job when they can get a person much younger, more engaged, and cheaper? It's just business. And he's not entitled to be employed. Now granted, I will give you that Judith should have at least called him. That's the respectful thing to do after a working relationship for many years. But even that's not guaranteed. And that's no reason to badmouth your former employer. Especially when your wife is still connected to the show.
@@osimeon00 All bailiff’s act like Byrd and Judge Judy seemed to love the way he acted. He’s not saying he was entitled to the job. He’s just surprised that she didn’t talk for him about it directly. The man was making over 1 million dollars per year for 25 years, and he doesn't have to work another day in his life. The man's in his 70s and he had a better run than 99% of the people. That’s also counter to the culture of the legal field that Judge Judy comes from. Lawyers and Judges often take their colleagues out for a meal or a drink and do other things outside of work to keep the working relationship strong. Judge Judy must not have seen Byrd as her equal.
Well I have never been to the house of any Boss I worked with- been out for lunch or dinner to a restaurant but never their home and would never expected to have been invited.

Byrd had a long run (25 years) in which he got paid over $1 million dollars per year, as a bailiff on the TV Show. Prior to that he was a High School Guidance Counselor and a Court Officer.
I agree! And I feel that whatever Bryd does, it will be a sucess.
Thanks for sharing this information about him! That speaks volumes about the type of person he is. I pray he and his family be blessed. Sorry, but it's Byrd who comes off shady. Judge Judy gave him a 25 year career (and financial stability for a quarter of a century) on a silver platter.

His contract ended in the show ended. His wife was also a producer on the show. If you go and listen to some his other interviews she didn't tell him about the new show from what he said. He found out about the new show and contacted her. Her granddaughter Judy and someone else put this new show together and they wanted to have fresh new energy. At the end of the day I don't feel sorry for him. Some people are in our lives for a moment a season and a lifetime. They had a working business relationship nothing more nothing less. He's coming off as being entitled listen to some of the statements that he put out in the other interviews.
@Sandra Leigh , no it's because of the woke little crybabies clown world we live in today's world, sadly.
Terribly sad to learn that Officer Byrd had been treated this way. Judge Judy had gone down in my estimation on this day, over this. When he found out that nobody showed up when his wife had brain surgery. That should have told him then. I have been at a Walmart for 11 years I went to cancer 4 years ago. No one gave me a a good well card. No one said to me when I return work glad you're okay. Now I have to tell the truth I am gay and transgender woman so I was not expecting it anyway. Judge Marilyn Milian and Bailiff Douglas have been together from the start, haven't they? I also love the dynamic between them. WHAT A SHAME
THIS IS ONE REASON
WE CANT REALLY TRUST THEM
What Judge Judy did to him was unforgivable. She's just CHEAP and ungrateful.
Yep!!
And that's why I will only watch rerun episodes.
Are we really shocked? Has anyone actually WATCHED Judge Judy? I often cant get past an episode because its filled with her over talking defendants/plaintiffs while presenting their cases because she has already decided which direction she will rule! She doesn't seem friendly at all.
She’s only gotten worse as she’s gotten older. I stopped watching her show a few years ago. I couldn’t deal with her rudeness and refusal to see a different point of view.
How she cancelled Byrd and how unnecessarily disrespectful she is to the litigants is more than enough for me to stop watching. I hope millions of folks will feel the same and support The People's Court or other court shows.
I always hated her my grandmother use to make me watch it with her.
Why not give him the option (and respect) of negotiating a deal? This is disrespectful, and a lack of recognition of his time on the show. Almost THREE decades! Smh....wow....
It's funny how Byrd conveniently left out that Judge Judy offered his wife (who was a producer on Judge Judy at one time) a job as producer on her new show and his wife declined due to her medical condition.
Yeah, very funny Byrd conveniently omits that from his sob story.
Sorry, but it's Byrd who comes off shady. Judge Judy gave him a 25 year career (and financial stability for a quarter of a century) on a silver platter.
She owes him NOTHING. You get that?? If anyone should be grateful, it should be Byrd - for the job she literally gave him 25 yrs ago that elevated his income and lifestyle and broadened and provided him a whole new avenue of opportunities.
But of course he's not grateful, he's instead an entitled "victim".
His story doesn't even make sense and he contradicts himself every other sentence.
He claims they weren't friends, just "friendly".
Yet then he says he has her personal cell phone number and that when he calls her on it, she answers immediately as she always does - his words.
Then he claims his relationship with her is equivalent to what the mail clerk at Microsoft would have with Bill Gates.
Really?? I doubt the mail clerk has Bill Gates personal cellphone number.
Then, again, he conveniently leaves out that his wife (who was once a producer on Judge Judy) was personally offered a job as producer on Judy's new show by Judge Judy herself.
He claims that at the final taping of the last Judge Judy episode, nothing was said to him about the new show
Byrd again conveniently leaves out the fact that Judge Judy was NOT even there in person at the studio. Due to Covid, Judge Judy appeared via satellite video feed from NEW YORK while Byrd and the plaintiffs/defendants were at the L.A. studio being filmed - and all the interaction between Byrd, the defendants/plaintiffs, and Judge Judy was all through live video satellite feed.
So how did Judy ignore him???? She wasn't even there in person???
He himself says that the very next day after the last episode was taped, his wife had neurosurgery for her brain tumor. And he didn't bother to call Judge Judy for another 2-3 months, which by that time the new show already started production.
Yeah, of course Byrd-brain conveniently leaves all that out.
Easier to play the victim these days. In modern society, victimhood has become a sort of social currency. Everyone is a victim
