And, in many countries, only if you commit additional crimes while breaking out of jail. If you somehow manage to break out in such a way that you commit no further crimes, the only consequence is that you’re put in a higher security cell.
unlike grand theft auto searches last for days and cops remember you
you're still sentenced even if you're not in prison.
And you spend your time a fugitive with nowhere to rest! At least in jail you're secure, get three squares a day, and a place to rest. Your own toilet, even!

*laughs in german*
While escaping from prison in Germany might not be illegal in itself, it's pretty well impossible to accomplish without doing SOMETHING illegal. Digging a tunnel? Property damage. Stealing a uniform? Theft. Bribing a guard? Well... bribery. So yeah, good luck!
@@Inkyminkyzizwozthere is still circumstantial consideration for crimes commited for the express purpose of breaking out of prison, if they're not violent. So striking down a guard is a no, but theft or property damage is unlikely to increase the sentence, even if you may still be held liable for the damage.
Unless you phased through the walls like a ghost without being noticed, the things you did to break out of jail is the one that extends your sentence.

In Germany, breaking out of prison does not increase your sentence.

No, it sets you free. Once you escape, they wont chase you. They believe in freedom

@@BlakenatorBeatz no
@@BlakenatorBeatz that's a myth, you're still getting your jail time.
It just doesn't add any to it as the desire for freedom is considered human nature.
But surely what you do to escape does? After all, even though escaping itself might not be illegal, it's virtually impossible to do without committing an offence of some sort or other!
Fun fact:In Germany it is legal to escape prison , because freedom or something, you'll still be searched and caught again, but you won't get more sentence
Should be that way in the USA too.
@@crazysquirrel9425 I think if you destroyed prison property or you hurt someone while trying to escape you shall be punished some way
@@keidkirk6905 Those are separate issues. Yes, if you cause property damage, then restitution is warranted.
Hurt someone? What value can you place on that if there is no long lasting physical harm?
Punishment for harming someone - depends on the reason. Depends on what harm.
But merely walking out of a jail does not warrant adding years to one's sentence.

My buddy walked right out with the work release people and the jail didn't notice till they did checks after lunch.... crazy mf
My adoptive dad used to street race all the time...he did this in his 70's-80's until he was no longer allowed to drive because he was starting to fall asleep at the wheel (we found out he was dying from thyroid cancer, the most aggressive thyroid cancer actually). He was never arrested for it, but he was warned, still kept doing it though. He knew better than to try with me in the car because I would tell him off and threaten to call the police on him myself. He only did it with my nephew in the car because my nephew (while only like 2 years younger than myself) was afraid that his grandfather would stop buying him things (he was the only grandson so he was the favorite for a long time) if he said anything. I only became the favorite when he was starting to die and I took care of him, sleeping on the couch in case he ever fell out of his chair, etc. Still I had no problems telling him that he was a terrible driver.

Yes because the law states; “a person does not have to cooperate in deprivation of freedom”
I Am MCLOVIN🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hello
Hi
Hi
You are first
Hi
In Sweden (IIRC) it's not (or wasn't until recently) illegal to break out of jail. There have been a few instances where one inmate escaped and others took the same way out, then returned to jail to finish their sentences after a day or two of freedom.
The things the first person does to break out _can_ be illegal, like destroying property (smashing a wall or fence, digging a tunnel), or assaulting a guard, but anyone who just uses the opening in the security is not committing a crime.
Laws you can break if you're a criminal: Literally all the laws, because you're already a criminal so nothing to lose
You can break any law as a criminal, that's why it's so great!
Thank you law by mike for helping me get out of 3 life sentences 😊
If you're serving a life sentence, breaking out is technically a temporary reduction.
Breaking out of jail only adds time to your sentence if you get caught.
That little Shawshank reference. Awesome.

The truth is, you can break any law you want. You just have to deal with the fallout. Sometimes the consequences are legal, but often they're much more than that. How people treat you, ability to find work, and relationships will all be impacted.
That “🤨”at the end got me on the floor 💀
Fun fact: in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria; escaping prison doesn’t add time to your sentence it simply pauses it as they believe it is natural for a human to seek escape from a cage.
Then again THEIR prison system is meant to rehabilitate criminals and prevent future crime while the US’s is meant to make money so they look for any reason to keep criminals in jails longer
Totally not biased, they are more corrupt than you clearly realize
And the USA wonders why they're ranked so low on the Global Peace Index (ranked 131st)
As a side note, the U.S. "criminal justice system" (lmao what a joke) tends to create career criminals. Who knew locking people up, treating them like animals, and taking away their basic human rights would cause them to rebel against a clearly corrupt system? Who could have ever guessed such a thing would happen? It's so suprising and strange!
Aight I’ll go commit a crime in Germany
Also in Germany, it isn't a crime to drink alcohol in public. Prost! 🍻
The fourth wall got me rolling😂
Nothing makes me laugh more than mikes “so bad it’s good” acting
There are actually some countries we're breaking out he's not illegal. It's because it is a natural human instinct to want to leave a bad situation you do not want to be in. That specific prison will be investigated for unethical practices.
This look at the end went to deep into my soul
1 law you can actually break under certain circumstances: SCOTUS has ruled that felons, who are prohibited from possessing firearms, cannot be charged with violating the registration requirements of the NFA if caught with an NFA regulated firearm, including machine guns, because it would be self-incriminating. Haynes V. US I think. So a felon can get less punishment for possession of an unregistered machine gun than an otherwise squeaky clean collector who skipped the paperwork.
