Concise, informative and lots of bar graphs, I love bar graphs. :D This is the SSD I ended up picking for my build as it was the only 4TB high end available and I am avoiding getting the 990 this time around. Glad I made the right choice.

Got the 4tb model yesterday for 350€ after my 9 month old 2tb XLR8 CS3140, my first non-Samsung SSD, died. Pretty decent price for the performance and seems to work well. Better than my previous one in fact.

I know the Samsung 990 was near or at the top in your testing, but I did not want issues with the device being destroyed by bad firmware so I decided to avoid Samsung entirely. I will see how the SN850x drive holds up.
That's actually a good video. Was looking to get a 2nd 4tb gen 4 nvme and the renegade is one of the option. This video got me to buy it instead of the sn850. The gen5 obviously is the best of the best. But at the similar price of £250. You only get 2tb of that gen5 vs 4tb on a gen 4. I'd rather have 4tb specially that on SFF build, I prefer to only cram 2 x 4tb nvmes without adding external 2.5 ssd. Thanks for the video
Thanks for the informative video and i decide this will be my choice of ssd for my pc upgrade later (from my all HDD). Kingston fury renegade would be best value purchase in my country compare to wd and samsung

They are, and the Firecuda 530 was included in the roundup (and is included in an upcoming one). I just filter some drives to keep the graphs easier to read and the FC530 just didn't stand out in some interesting way. But I'll reconsider that choice for future ssd reviews, I've heard the same comment a few times already :)
It would be nice to have some web page with all the tests with filter for All/SATA M2/SATA 2.5"/NVME PCIE3/NVME PCIE4. It's impossible to find comparison between specific drives such as WD Blue SN570, Samsung 870 Evo Plus and ADATA XPG SX8200 PRO to see how much I'm losing by saving some money and how they compare to one I already have.
As always a great video. I already have Fury Renegate 2Tb and I'm getting additional ones: Renegade 1TB and KC3000 1TB, so I'll be happy to check in my free time if these results will be confirmed for me :P

Hello and thank you for the informative video. I have a question about the PCMark Consistency stress test. I know you said it does not apply for majority of users, but under what real life practical situation does this test mimic? For example, if I game for long hours? Or if I game for long hours while transferring files and streaming at the same time? Does it measure the longevity of the drive in normal conditions?
Gaming for hours doesn't really stress the SSD at all. You'd need to really hammer the drive with lots of reads/writes over such long periods that it's hard to call out any real workload tbh. If you're gaming for hours, transfering for hours, and streaming/recording/video editting at the same time, sure :P
That kind of test matters more for servers, if you use an SSD as a cache drive then it can see heavy workloads so the drive has to be chosen for consistency even if you're willing to replace it after a relatively short deployment.
Here in the Netherlands?
Hello madame, I have a question, I got a macbook pro recently and I would like to have a 4 TB external SSD and I am actually thinking to use this specific NVMe drive but I would like to know which enclosure would be adequate for it to not have any bottle necks when transferring data. What I am trying to say is that I want to know which enclosure will keep the speed and performance of this drive to use with Apple computers. Best regards.
Depends on the price. I'd look at this one, 990 pro, SN850X, KC3000 or MP600 Pro LPX if the price is right. Otherwise, look at P5 Plus or Sabrent Rocket +. But again, it all depends on the price.
6:25 In my system ultimate PC Gaming with Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB has with Samsung Magician about 6987 MB Sequential read also 5147 MB write with the lastest firmware still Kingston has to improve to beat Samsung NVME these tests results depends on each system upgrade and driver versions do not take 100% as reference might still be surprise there !
I'm still happy with my 3.5 years old nvme SSD from Silicon Power (512GB; 3400/2300MB/s). Booting a Xubuntu VM from the SSD or from OpenZFS memory cache, I only see a 1.5 seconds difference (8 secs vs 6.5 secs boot time). My CPU is a Ryzen 3 2200G with 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz). I have the feeling that the lz4 decompression of the VM-OS takes the most time. Windows is ~5x slower. To speed up the Win boot time, I probably need e.g a Ryzen 5 5600G instead of a faster SSD, besides my B450 motherboard only supports a Gen3 SSDs.

hello, want to buy my first nvme, and interested with this one. but i read in one forum that this brand have a very big failure rate for ssd. is that true? want to know your perspective for this, and is fury renegade still a good choice after nearly one year?
I honestly don't know anything about RMA rates. I definitely haven't heard a lot (or any tbh) others mention issues with the Fury Renegade, so I'd personally not worry too much about it. No matter what you buy though, any SSD *can* break and you always need backups.

What I am trying to say is that I want to know which enclosure will keep the speed and performance of this drive to use with Apple computers. Best regards.
I saw all your videos :) But in your opinion what is the best ssd m2 1 tb for gaming and normal use of the pc?
Depends on the price. I'd look at this one, 990 pro, SN850X, KC3000 or MP600 Pro LPX if the price is right. Otherwise, look at P5 Plus or Sabrent Rocket +. But again, it all depends on the price.
119$ for Fury here in Poland on Amazon
6:25 In my system ultimate PC Gaming with Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB has with Samsung Magician about 6987 MB Sequential read also 5147 MB write with the lastest firmware still Kingston has to improve to beat Samsung NVME these tests results depends on each system upgrade and driver versions do not take 100% as reference might still be surprise there !
Why is the Kingston 4TB not on that list...
Did I read it right
Shops are rating this as a 2PB durability.
What about the inland gaming performance plus
Do the LEXAR NM800PRO
What should I go for? The Kingston fury renegade in 2tb or the Samsung 990 Pro in 2tb both for ps5 and both have the same price point for me
Where does the Kioxia fall? 😞
Soon!
Just bought the 1tb version for 100$ us. I find the price very good.
Do you think prices will drop even further or is it really time to buy now? Ik wil de 4TB versie.
Hard to say. Prices have gone down constantly for a while, but you never know.
is there a huge difference between one with low profile graphene heat spreader and the one with bigger heatsink? for ps5
So what will be your ultimate work / Windows SSD? [no gaming just pure program loading, things like opening web browser with 1000+ tabs]
Just found one on Ebuyer UK for £109! (2TB)
It's really interesting that Kingston still sells SSD in Memory Card or Pen Drive packaging. 😶
Haha for real
Which SSD cooler do you use for your tests?
An overkill copper block.
Would you recommend this m.2 for 3d modeling?
Thank you for this information video. I just needed this video as i was getting confused between fury renegade, kc3000 and sn850x where i live their prices are fury 165.88usd, kc3000 151.11usd and sn850x 193.79usd please tell me which is best to for gaming, programming and normal daily life usage.
With those prices I’d take the
Kc3000
hello, want to buy my first nvme, and interested with this one.
but i read in one forum that this brand have a very big failure rate for ssd. is that true?
want to know your perspective for this, and is fury renegade still a good choice after nearly one year?
I honestly don't know anything about RMA rates. I definitely haven't heard a lot (or any tbh) others mention issues with the Fury Renegade, so I'd personally not worry too much about it. No matter what you buy though, any SSD *can* break and you always need backups.
wondering if it runs cooler under a heatsink if you remove the thin heat spreader or leave it on. just curious
Might do, but with a heatsink it's fine either way.
What is the sustained speed this SSD?
I am thinking about Kingston fury regenade 2T heatsink, is good choice for PS5 right ??
omg ik heb deze al zeker 6 maand, beetje laat met je review
i was confused between kc3000 and 980 pro with 980 pro 15$ expensive than kc3000. Which one should i choose?
