Find OD in terms of a b and c. O is any point in plane of square abcd, OA is a, OB is b and OC is c.
The answer given is a+c-b, but I donno how. Help is appreciated

I always thought I understood Vectors, but then when the mock exam came I realized I didn't. I always saw your videos appear on the algorithm but I saw that they were very long and decided they weren't worth it. Eventually I gave them a try and I was wrong. You take your time to explain things and it's better to spend 50 minutes watching a good long video to understand something than to watch many short videos that will end up adding up to be longer than 50 minutes and not understand much. Thank you for your help.

Could you please explain briefly the difference between column vector and position vector. And how do we find these. While what are coordinate points? Will be grateful
Column Vector vs. Position Vector:
Column Vector: This is a general term for a vector written in a vertical column format, with each element stacked on top of the other. It can represent anything with magnitude and direction, like forces or velocities.
Position Vector: This is a specific type of column vector used in linear algebra. It describes the location of a point in space relative to a chosen origin (usually denoted by "O")

We can't go directly from A to B so we need to take the detour through O 🙂 👍

hello! thank you for this great video, i had a small doubt
at 40:02, do we have to start from the edge of the grid? I went from the left hand side (instead of right, as you did) and got the signs mixed up (a-2b same as the prev question instead of -a + 2b which is the right answer) so I'm not able to understand that part
I made sure to leave myself enough room on the grid to draw the vector 👍
Lol I made a comment previously here watching this video before my pre-mock, and now watching it (and many others) again before my mock!

at 26:57 is it necessary to show the working? because in igcse math, using a calculator is allowed and when you put the values with square root it directly gives the answer in the surd form so cant we just write that after the first and second step?
You need to write supporting working but doesn't have to be in a prescribed way 😊👍

If the question asks to keep the magnitude as a surd, then can we keep the answer as let's say for example, √45 or do we have to simplify it and give the answer as 3√5 ?
You should simplify if possible but on 0580 I do not think you will lose a mark 👍
do we always have to provide a simplified answer in vector questions like do we have to write 1/2(3q-r) instead of -1/2r + 3/2q for example
You can leave it in factorised form too 😊

Hey I have a few days left for 0580 Maths exam and I am starting prep today can I still achieve A*
The first thing to check is whether you can complete the Paper 2 and 4 and score around 80 - 85% on each paper, then see which topics need to be revised in order to get to that score 👍

Strictly speaking any vector should have a squiggle underneath to indicate it is a vector and not a scalar (number) 👍
