Is Discord's Username Update a Bad Idea?

- Woo another video look at me, I'm on a roll. This time its about Discord, more specifically the changes they're making to their usernames, is it good or bad? Well I had a look at the pros and cons and went over them in this short video.
I quite like doing these short documentary/commentary style videos as theyre pretty low effort which is perfect for someone lazy like me, but it also lets me push my opinion out into the crowded topic of whatever is hot at the time.

A couple of my friends raised this question to me so I thought I'd address it here. The thumbnail I made was similar to that of No Text To Speech's but I was not intending for it to be that way, we just simply took the screenshots from the official Discord post and that's why they turned out so similar. Don't call me out for plagiarism please :(
This just feels unneeded imo. And i can get behind the decision but the reasoning is dumb, for it to be more like other social media platforms, but personally I liked that it wasn't. They also said something about seperating it from its " gaming platform origins " or something which is really dumb considering how many people use this for gaming and it's one of its advertising points. Plus now we cant have emojis or even !'s in our name its just dumb

It's a custom pack I made, some textures are taken from other packs but most of them are mine or default :)

Your reasoning here kinda falls flat. For one, the naming problem as your first point isn't gonna be fixed by new naming system. It's gonna intensify it. Instead of 9999 people getting to have the same username, only one get to have it. Thats not a solution, thats a created problem.
2. Discord is not a social media site, it's a private chatting client. It might work for connecting your stuff, but for many others, they like have private unrelated accounts for their private life. Discord seems to have forgotten its place.
3. The name sniping and selling of accounts is reason enough on it's own to be a horrible idea.
4. Again, Discord is not a social media site. Part of Discords appeal is that it's not acting like every other social media site which are rife with stressors, toxicity, and too much information at once. We don't want Discord to be more like other social media sites, if so then whats the point of using it further if it's just like every site? That doesnt make sense.
Overall, if Discord wanted to deal with more users and usernames, they shouldve just added more digits to their user tags. It's not that complicated. Telling people to "suck it up" is a crappy take.
The point I was trying to get across is that no matter what people thought of the update, Discord wasn't going to go back on this change. They looked at the title and didn't read the small print. People will be unhappy about the change but when isn't anyone upset about change. I personally would prefer the discriminators over a username like anyone else. I don't agree with the update per se, that's why I mentioned just adding another number onto the end but I know that there's no point in me talking to a brick wall like everyone else. I was just trying to outline why Discord were making the change and why the community was upset.
Regardless I always appreciate feedback so thank you for taking your time to post this comment, I am always looking to improve my videos. :)

I love this update its so much easier/better than remembering numbers, or even misreading them when adding people. great update discord :)
