I Think that is the normal Chaos Spear. The doom spear has a black trail.
Yeah doom spears seem to be more powerful and can hit multiple target at once (5 max according to the trailer)

Man, after seeing that Jakks figure, I really hope we see Neo Metal Sonic in a cut scene for metal overlord. That design is CLEAN.
That would be epic! Maybe he can even act as like a phase 1 for the boss since I feel like not fighting base Neo Metal was kind of a bummer in the original Heroes

The character is chaos island
I think the reason that there are Forces and Frontiers stages in the game is because the Time Eater not only brought stages from the past, but stages from the future, too
Crisis City proves it can pull stages from erased futures, so pulling from the existing future makes sense.
One thing that i find interesting about sonic x shadow generations is that aside from Black doom, we haven't see anything from shadow game yet, it's also strange that we have chaos Island as a level because unlike forces, shadow doesn't have anything to do with frontiers, also since there is a level from forces, there is a chance that infinite can be a boss fight
Well...there is ONE connection, sonic has one random bit of text about shadow on chaos island. Was that a hint or will it have anything to do with this? Probably not. Is it an interesting coincidence? Yes
One thing people always mention is that the pods where Black Arms are created/"born" in Shadow the Hedgehog 05 has them looking like Chaos inside of the pods, being totally blue with emerald greenish eyes, and the fact that Devil Doom has the same roar as Perfect Chaos just like the Biolizard which also is theorized to have a connection with Perfect Chaos due to the mural theory saying the Biolizard is based on the Perfect Chaos mural and Shadow on Super Sonic's mural (also helped by the fact we have Artificial Chaos with Project Shadow logos on their helmets)
And we all know that the Ancients from Frontiers are CONFIRMED to be ancestors from Chaos, and we know from Frontiers that there existed multiple tribles from the Ancients with different Ancient species, one with 4 legs, one with wings, one with a tail instead of legs, one that was really strong and the most intelligent (the ones that came to Sonic's planet after the others were wiped out by The End on their home planet), not only that but Dark Chao also match with the colors of Black Arms and we have the fact that the Black Arms KNEW about the Chaos Emeralds in Shadow 05 which prior to being on that planet they were with the Ancients (unless the Emeralds are universally known, which could be the case), but since we're getting Chaos Island for this game... we might have a chance to have the funny theory confirmed, just like how people are theorizing the mural theory could be confirmed in Gerald's Journal
My headcannon about Shadow being in Chaos Island is that Black Doom, seeing that Chaos Island has the most powerful weaponry known to date, he starts a full on invasion on Chaos Island, after all, Black Doom just like Time Eater, can warp around time, so he can just go and try to conquer Chaos Island. Of course he makes a silly blunder and leaves the portal open so Shadow follows him. That's my headcannon at the moment.
I think that the story would possibly be that Black Doom from Shadow the Hedgehog saw rifts that the Time Eater was leaving in its wake and decided to go on a multiversal invasion, and the Shadow from Generations stumbled upon their plan and is now trying to stop him and the Black Arms.

I was surprised that we got a curveball with Chaos Island and Sunset Heights stages. I thought it was just going to be stuff from Adventure 2, Heroes, Shadow 05, and Sonic 06 because it was confirmed that Shadow Gens and Sonic Gens take place at the same time but hey, it doesn’t matter that it’s a inconsistency if the stage is good and I’d like to see what they do narratively with stuff technically from the future at that games place in the timeline

Something I am really excited to see is whether or not they have a new remix of "What I'm Made Of" during the Metal Overlord boss, like how they have one for "Supporting Me" in the Biolizard fight. I know that the song doesn't play during Team Dark's portion of the fight, but it is too iconic to not include.
I'm sure it will. This is Metal OVERLORD, not Metal MADNESS (the one Shadow faces). Therefore, it would be appropriate to use Metal OVERLORD's boss theme, which is "What I'm Made Of". Much like they're using "Supporting Me" for Biolizard because...it was played for the BIOLIZARD fight. So I say it's highly likely we're getting a remix of What I'm Made Of coming.

Considering the whole premise of Generations is Time Travel shenanigans (or Time Displacement shenanigans, w/e you want to call it), Shadow might be getting deposited in futurist events, instead of just past ones.
I'm not only hoping we get to fight Mephiles, but I'm also hoping we get to actually fight ones of those mass-produced Death Egg Robots. You know? Those massive mechs that were littered throughout Forces and heavily used in its advertising but we never got to actually fight (no, that one QTE does not count).
If they're like: "fuck the lore and logic, we're adding places from the future after gens", then they could add a new stage which is going to appear in a future game as a teaser. It would be hella cool.

Izuka has confirmed Shadow Gens takes place at the same time as Sonic Gens.
Chaos Island is only here because Shadow probably was sent to the future like with Sunset Heights, as the Death Egg Robot is here on Chaos Island. Also, from what I can tell with the game, it really isn’t strictly just Shadow’s history. (I mean Space Colony Ark uses Final Rush’s theme from SA2 and not Final Chase nor Final Rush’s very different remix in Shadow the Hedgehog. Plus they introduce new stuff like enemies and bosses in the wrong areas)
Not to mention that Frontiers did introduce a lot about the Emeralds. So it makes sense for Shadow to visit Chaos Island since a lot of his history and other things around it are connected to the Emeralds.
I think a better explanation is the simple fact that the White Space is outside of time and space itself and the Time Eater could even bring back stages from an erased timeline so yeah, of anything it makes sense we could see stages from the character's future

No he said something about before or after forces cause it would make the least sense for this be the Same Shadow from Sonic Gens and have him not help out at all against the time eater.
@@FluppietheRockruffFan No. He did say it takes place around Gens. That’s what’s said in many interviews. Even then, I wish this was during Forces so we could at least have an explanation of why he was gone for six months.
3:40 The idea just struck me but what if each doom power you get, you have a boss fight for it, sorta like Darksiders where you have a big boss fight for each new gimmick you gain. It sort of lines up honestly with Bio Lizard for Chaos Spears and Metal Overlord for Doom Surfing.
It doesn't really matter that shadow wasn't in Frontiers. In og Generations, it was Eggman using time eater that flew through time using Time Eater. Plus one of the stages was Crisis City, from deep in the future. That alone meant it could travel into the future, so a frontiers location isn't really a stretch when you think about it.
Sega is basically saying they should have added shadow as DLC in frontiers😂🙌

Love how they are Showing all of the New Unique Powers Shadow is manifesting while looking Badass with Symbiote/Spawn Powers, we see Chao Island which Opens a lot of Possibilities, and I didn’t Metel Overlord to Return and that makes me wonder if Mephiles will be a Boss in this?

If you look at the left side at 3:23 you can see Omega in this area, looks like you'll be able to interact with him and possibly rouge and other characters to Shadow.
In the Chaos island part you can spot the white enemy type in the back.
There's also the space port from forces as well so it'll have two levels dedicated towards it.
Also appears throughout the trailer that theirs a new black arms enemy types that's Blue we haven't seen in STH

The Doom Powers look INSANE! I’m pretty sure that the Open World will have a role in the story. I’m pretty sure we saw Chao’s island in the game.
I've heard the prediction that Shadow being in Chaos Island could be to learn more about the origins of the chaos emeralds and their energy, since they are pretty closely tied to him

I think that it does take place at the same time as sonic generations but because time is basically paused, it could mean that you could find all locations on the planet in white space, now I don't mean in game, but what I think is that it's just chaos island during sonic generations.

1:54 I do understand your speculation here. But to be fair, Classic Sonic, a young version of Sonic, had to travel to different places he'd never been before such as City Escape and Crisis City in the original story of Sonic Generations.

I think that the radical highway segments are just backdrops for doom power tutorials, akin to superstars emerald power tutorials. I make this assumption based on the fact they seem designed around the abilities

I can’t deny my hype for this game anymore. Everything looks really cool and fun. The presentation alone for the game is probably the best it’s been in a long time. And the marketing for the game overall is much better than the marketing for Sonic Frontiers. I just hope SEGA doesn’t somehow screw this up. Looking forward to playing Sonic X Shadow Generations later this October.

this is exactly what i was looking for. the powers don’t seem so overpowered but very fun and make the gameplay look more alive. i hope there are bosses at the end of every act, that would feel very nice to see everyone from shadows past at least return for something just like metal overlord, although idk how they would appear in the game(not that ik why metal is there) i still think it’s likely and think it’ll pull a lot of people into sonic. we’re so back.

Why would Shadow being in Chaos Island not make sense? All RUclipsrs I've seen said the same thing and it's kinda weird. This isn't Cyberspace, these aren't Shadow's memories remixed and recreated, this is time travel and dimension hopping (which just excuses the shifts in locations, not dimension hoping as in timelines), Shadow doesn't have to have visited any of the locations or seen any of the enemies he's fighting to experience it through time travel. Classic Sonic had never visited Station Square, San Francisco or whatever it's called in the Sonic universe (City Escape), Soleanna's future (Crisis City), Seaside Hill, Spagonia, Planet Wisp, Emerald Coast, Water Palace and the Tropical Resort aboard the Egg Planet Park. Did that confuse you as well? No, right? Both Classic and Modern Sonic never visited Radical Highway (except if we count the SA2 intro for Modern which I wouldn't, doesn't make sense) but that's still in the game, I'm assuming this didn't confuse you either. There is absolutely no reason for Chaos Island to be confusing as well.
Shadow is time traveling, he ends up all over the place, can literally be anywhere.
Btw, the Doom Spear is most likely an evolution of the Chaos Spear ability, meaning you probably get the Chaos Spear first.
What would be interesting is if they had both boss and rival fights like in Sonic Generations. Boss fights would be Biolizard and Metal Overlord. And rival fights would be Mephiles and Infinite.

If we can get a biolizard fight in the colony ark stage and metal overload fight in (probably) bullet station stage then we should get a Mephiles boss fight in the end of kingdom valley and i refuse to believe that he isn't in the game
I’m now a firm believer that both Mephiles and Infinite will be bosses. Knight could also be a boss for Chaos Island.

I think the reason why locations that appear after Generation showing up here might have to do with Time Eater pulling, not only locations from their pasts, but also locations of their futures as well, now that these areas exist.
The reason why Shadow would get Chaos Island without being there in the past (or present in our case) might have to do with the same reason why Sonic got Radical Highway in the 3DS version, that being as stated earlier, Time Eater is pulling locations from their pasts and futures allowing anyone to end up anywhere whatever they have been there or not (Like Vector being rescued in front of Rooftop Run, or Charmy being rescued in front of Planet Wisp).
While that would be a simple reason, but SEGA probably has a better plan/reason than that-it might also be as you said, this game could take place during Frontiers. The possibilities are endless.
A few things to say
First, consider in the base Generations you had many side missions and levels that granted you music notes, and since they were a lot, Generations had the idea to give different time of day to spice up the visuals a little. The levels were also very gimmicky in nature, focusing on one part of level design. Explaining the many different sky colors we see Radical Highway in, and the tornadoes could just be one of those gimmicks.
Second, in base Generations it was required for characters to be attached to a certain level, Cream was attached to Speed Highway, Tails to Green Hill, Amy to Chemical Plant, Vector to Rooftop Run, Charmy to Planet Wisp (if you don't consider the DS Color I guess??) anyways just to say it's all mixed up, so Shadow being in Chaos Island is not odd.
Thirds, still on the topic of Chaos Island, althought it seems odd to have "future locations' from future games, but when you think about it, it's not because they are eplored in future games that they don't exist in the world, the Starfall Island still exist, even if the Sonic Team didn't explore it, and so are subject to be absorbed by the Time Eater. I guess one thing that would contradict that theory is if Sunset City is destroyed, which would be a proof of events, but we see only the sewers in the trailer, so no proof of exterior debris.
(Actually, while writing all that I just thought of something, scrap everything I just said, there is a Forces Death Egg Robot in Chaos Island, so that proves it comes from the future, I will not erase what I just said because I still think it's interesting, but yeah, they comes from the future I guess)
Fourth point, about other characters in general, in the trailer we can see Omega in the background, in Generation there some missions where the characters you just saved would either challenge of help you through a level, so it's inetresting to think what they could do with Omaga. Will Shadow save anyone else? Rouge was already saved by Sonic, I think it's possible maybe he saves Silver in the Kingdom Valley section? Unless they make a point the 3 Hedgehogs are the only one not affected by the Time Eater (although they could make an exception for Silver.. because he is Silver)
Also is the Metal Overlord we see the same Metal Classic Sonic thought in the base game? Or is it a different Modern Metal that is unrelated, giving Metal the same treatment Sonc Tails and Eggman has, having 2 versions of themselves.
Also if they bring back fishing because it is a miniature Frontiers, I think it will be hilarious for Shadow to save Big the Cat from white space which would grant access to fishing.
Also, if Shadow has access to the Future, will Sage be a save-able character? If my memory is correct, she was compared to Maria by Eggman, and is pretty much is Eggman's equivalent to Gerald's Maria, so interactions between Shadow and Sage would be interesting. Also obviously, Infinte, I don't have anything to say, just Infinite.
Also last thing about other characters, considering Generations had rival characters for each chunk of levels, as well as Sonic having fought Shadow in the Ark in one of those fights, and if the story happens in parallel to Sonic, does that confirm that we will get the same Rival Fight with Sonic? This time in Shadow's perspective of course, fighting Sonic would be cool regardless but it also makes a perfect Adventure 2 Parallel. Speaking or rival characters, is the Metal Overlord really a Boss Fight? Or is he a Rival Fight of the Modern Metal Sonic, will Silver also get a Rival Fight with Shadow?
And final point, considering Black Doom had a stone specifically made for him in the White Space, does that confirm the Time Eater and Black Doom are linked? Possibly being a creation of Black Doom before Shadow like I saw someone saying, also I am curious of the potential lore they will add to the Ancients and if they had any relations to the Black Arms, which I believe is one of the reasons why they brought Frontiers back so early. And of course I think they will be something to figure out with Solaris and Mephiles, I don't see how it's possible to live in a Timeline where the Time Eater and Mephiles are completely unrelated, if my memory is correct, in 06 they were secret lore in the walls of Dusty Desert or something were the flame of Solaris was being given to Soleana or something, and we know Black Doom has visited Earth a long time ago and had a temple in Glyphic Canyon.
But yeah, this is all I have to say.
The Doom Powers are basically the Wisps if they were actually good.

You do know that just because frontiers or forces released after gens, doesnt mean that sunset heights and chaos island doesnt exist. It just means that Sonic hadn’t been there before
Yeah, plus it's not like Time Eater is limited to mess with time only before Colors, he can literally mess with TIME so he can bring things even from the further future, even if Eggman met him at the end of Colors
Plus, if we think about it, everything post Classic Era in base Gens for Classic Sonic is technically the future for him too
What I’m most hyped for, believe it or not, is what sounds like a full on rock remix of Supporting Me, the Biolizard theme. I want all the song remixes!

If Sega can recreate smaller assets from Sonic 06 then why not just redo the whole game?
Soo far we have 5 stages:
Space Colony Ark from SA2
Bullet Station from Sonic Heroes
Kingdom Valley from Sonic 2006
City from Sonic Forces
Chaos Island from Sonic Frontiers
We may get a Shadow 2005 stage, and maybe a Sonic Lost World stage as well.
I’m guessing the Shadow the Hedgehog stage will be the Black Commit with a Black Doom fight, making it the final stage.
About Chaos Morph: I think Sonic Team saw the octopus or inklings by Splatton. I don't know, that's just a reference.
If we're getting a Sonic Frontiers boss I think it's more likely to be Wyvern over Knight because to me Wyvern translates better to standard boost gameplay, or maybe I just want a remix of Break Through it All
Possible considering the Heroes boss doesn’t take place in the stage representing Heroes.

It may not actually be space port, but the point still stands that the boss representing the game can be in a different location to the stage representing the game. This means we may actually get a recreation of Shadow’s final fight with Mephiles.
It looks like Black Doom is possessing Shadow's body that's why he has those abilities looking for the 7 Chaos Emeralds and get his revenge for 19 years

Great trailer! Each trailer just keeps getting better and better. But with that being said. As much as I appreciate Sega for not leaving us in the dark and showcasing the game as much as possible. I really hope that was our last trailer. I don't wanna be spoiled too much. I rather have everything else be a mystery. And just experience everything in the actual game. I can understand this trailer, because they wanted to show us Shadow's new Doom Powers. But showing Metal Overlord was a bit too much. As much as I was very happy and excited to see him! Don't get me wrong, but I felt like it would have been even more of a surprise seeing him in the actual game for ourselves and instead of showing him in the trailer. IF Mephiles is in the game, I hope they DON'T show him in the next trailer. Again, I rather go in blind and be surprised. IF THEY DO show another trailer, I hope it's the "Available Now" trailer with very vague gameplay and just showcasing things we already know. VERY EXCITED FOR THE GAME! I PRE ORDERED IT TWICE! I'M READY FOR IT! I just hope Sega can hold off on another trailer lol the game is almost out anyways. We're almost in September and a half way through October! WE CAN DO IT BOYS!!
Also the area we fight Metal Overlord in seems to be Spaceport from Forces instead of Final Fortress from Heroes

You Forgot that Omega was in the trailer in the background for the doom surf showcase gameplay 3:35 There he is on the left of the chest. For Sunset Heights and Chaos island, I think the time eater brought those here. Remember he can travel time and space, so bringing places from the future isn't impossible.
As someone who has never played Forces (couldn't), I thought Sunset Heights was Dusty Desert at first. I saw people saying it's Sunset Heights, but I still couldn't see. Yet that's what I'm most excited for. By the way most of those Radical Highway shots can be from missions, which I wish, because missions were my favorite part of Gens.
Actually the place where we fighting Metal Overlord looks very close to Network Terminal from Sonic Forces.
Maybe I am wrong and I know there's no connection between Overlord and this zone but anyway.

Or enemy territory as that’s Shadow’s version of the stage, or City as what all of the city levels are called like it’s their Zone name, or Emeraldville as given in the IDW comics, or Sunset Heights, apparently also given in the comics.

0:40 Very much inspired by the context sensitive ability in Shadow the Hedgehog leveldesign, just that there it was really just on preplaced spots of black arms goo, here Shadow just kinda turns into a blob.(Also, we can now officially joke about how someone Sonic knows has replaced a wisp. Because this is usually a Pink wisp-thing, except better because they appearently made it work in 3D.)

Sure, these places existed before those games take place obviously, but it feels kinda odd, especially how Sonic's campaign only implemented things he was at least there to spectate(minus Radical Highway on 3DS, which Sonic running through it is still weirdly being canon as of Frontiers basegame. Even if Frontiers still got the wrong version of the stage for that, lol).

The Starfall islands are definitely more accessible than Angel Island, so I’m sure Gerald did some research there. I can’t wait to see what else his journal tells us!
It’s possible the Black Arms and the Ancients were rivals, or even that they split off from the same species.

Pulling from the future doesn't contradict anything in forces. Remember that Silver was pulled from the future for one of Sonic's rival battles.
Crisis City is literally an erased future zone, I don’t understand why zones from the actual future coming back is weird or confusing.
There isn’t really a reason why Shadow has to have been to Chaos Island (in the past or future) for it to be here, the Time Eater doesn’t pull places based memories, it also doesn’t seem to be getting orders from Eggman cause Crisis City is here despite being erased and unknown. The Time Eater is basically just relocating places to White Space, it’s like if France was moved to the middle of America it would allow anyone in the area to go there.
If shadow fights Knight at chaos island, I’m gonna lose my absolute shit and might have a mini stroke. Knight is the best boss in frontiers

Act 2 is not entirely 2D it will just have some 2D sections. The Bullet Station level at Summer Game Fest was called Act 2 in the files. Chaos Island also being there makes perfect sense given the Starfall Islands connection to the Chaos Emeralds and the fact that the Time Eater effects both past and future, all of time. Aside Crisis City Sonic Team couldn't do this in base Gens cause obviously future stuff didn't exist yet.
