I can't believe we are getting Chaos Island and metal overlord in this game, hope Infinite, Mephiles, and Knight will be bosses in this game. I am also hype for the Radical Highway remix.

Black Doom is an alien who knew of the Chaos Emeralds and set up temples for The Day Of Reconning hundreds of years ago. The Chaos Race were alien race who owned the Chaos Emeralds before they went extinct. It’s plausible they knew of each other.
Thematically speaking Chaos Island’s name comes from Greek mythology just like Ouranos (the father of the Titans), Rhea (the Queen of the Titans), Kronos (king of the Titans), Ares (the God of War), and Chaos itself (the void of nothingness from which existence was born).
I like how this arguably makes the truth less clear. Is chaos intentionally the odd one out where something important happened, or did they just pick cool greek names for fun?
What if the Ancients encountered the Black Arms in space?

A new theory I thought of is that black dooms master plan to take over the world IS Shadow himself. We see clearly that shadow is getting these doom abilities because of black doom. But why would black doom give shadow the abilities that allow him to beat him. Well we also see that shadow seems to lose his mind/control in the cutscenes of him getting these powers. What if these doom powers are like the cyber corruption and like the symbiote from spiderman, and black doom is trying to make shadow the ultimate weapon and take control over him. We see that shadow will fight the bio lizard (the first ultimate life form experiment) and now we know he fights metal overlord who isn’t really a main villain for shadow, but he is considered an ultimate life form. What if black doom is testing shadow and seeing if he can beat the other ultimate life forms throughout time and that’s why shadow states he will show he is the true ultimate life form while fighting metal in the trailer. This could also be why shadow is brought to the future at star fall islands so that he can fight The End who is another villain who considers themselves the ultimate life form. I definitely think the black doom abilities are some sort of trap considering they’re given by black doom and shadow doesn’t really seem like he wants to except them at first. Idk just thought that was an interesting overlooked detail in the plot🤷

I like this idea, minus the part about the end, the end is way out of shadow's and black doom's league, Its the reason why an already pretty powerful super sonic needed cyber energy on top of It to win, i think even black doom would be smart enough not to mess with it.

I like most of that. Doom only survived as Death's Eye and is looking to use Shadow as a new body. The Black Doom render could be alluding to a mind battle.

We definitely need a Silver campaign for how he ended up in White Space who also wasn’t at the party or frozen like the rest of the gang.
My guess is since sonic 06 he was decoupled from his orignal timeline after the entire event of the game was erased. And since then he's no longer connected to time he could not be affected by time manipulation and he could probably resist the time eater in his campaign.
Bro this game is the perfect chance to have Mephiles in, if they were able to bring back black doom I can seriously see it happen

Time Eater travels through time and Space, of course he can travel to the future as well, Crisis City is 200 years in a parallel future of an erased timeline, that itself says that he can travel to the future, just because the story of forces and frontiers (by the time Generations was happening) never happened, doesn't mean Sunset Height and Chaos Island doesn't exist in that universe
If Classic Sonic went to (including 3DS Gens) Speed Highway, Emerald Coast, City escape, Radical Highway, Seaside Hill, Water Palace, Crisis City, Spagonia, Tropical Resort and Planet Wisp... what stops Shadow from going to Sunset Heights and Chaos Island?
Well in the original Generations, the two Tails said that they are traveling through time in space. So time travel definitely has something to do with Chaos Island appearing in Shadow Generations.

I feel like all of this is an effort to get the fan base used to older games that didn’t perform the best, and even though the main villain seems to be Black Doom, if the reception is good for this game, it might influence Sega to bring back more past villains, such as Mephiles.
I've been under the suspicion that Sega picked Doom over Mephiles in order to test the waters and see how trying characters from the more controversial games is received, without risking the character that people actually want to see come back on the first try. Unless Doom shows up as the twist villain in Sonic Movie 3 then my suspicion is out the window.
Remember Mephiles the dark is part of the god of time he has even more control over time than the time eater. Black Doom would probably use Mephiles to mess with Shadow, not knowing that Mephiles will use this to pull himself out of the time stream, bringing himself Back from being erased from reality, making him probably the main villain of the next 3D Sonic game

Theory 2 is similar to a shower thought I had at work today: What if Shadow has Chao DNA mixed in with everything else?
Gerald's research is already Chao-adjacent, Shadow seems to like Chao in the comics, and Chao reincarnation would be relevant to Project Shadow's aim of immortality. I don't think Gerald knew about the Ancients, but Chaos Island means that Sage is probably available for any exposition dumping (and the Maria comparison from the Egg Logs).
Chao DNA would mean that Shadow is part Ancient as well as Black Arms, which leans into the Hero/Dark dichotomy.
Now consider that Shadow doesn't have the Chaos Emeralds. The Titans are equivalent in power, and they had pilots. Shadow controls Knight to take on Devil Doom.
Shadow. Knight. Basically, this whole thing is the most convoluted reference to Black Knight's Lancelot without having Lancelot.
(This also implies that the Titans can function as very scary Chao Mechs. Cheese, get 'em!)
These time travel theories add an intriguing one to the Shadow Generations story, sparking curiosity in mind.
Man, the game isn't out for another 65 days, and we already have a Game Theory on the game...

@@adem.3782I’m pretty sure just Dooms eye (which is what we see from black doom in the trailers) survived the end of Shadow 05. But also time travel could be a big part of his return too.
Eggman did say he discovered the time eater. Perhaps Time Eater was a Black Arms creation the whole time and he just never realized.
My theory is that chaos island will take place at the end and shadow will be transported to the future and have a final fight ON chaos island... where black Doom set up his base.

I think it is a mix of first three theories. But I would like to see Mephiles return at some form (maybe as a way to bring him back for future installments.)
The irony is that I don’t think we know which zone from Shadow 05 they’re taking, yet it’s supposedly already shown from post Generation events and those he was never apart of.
They’re probably bringing in one of the black comet levels as a final level.
Chaos island and sunset hieghts being there is definitely because they wanted to reuse assets. Its way easier to just make a story about going to the future than making entirely new assets.

Maybe chaos island is there because of Black doom. Since we know now that the ancients brought the chaos emeralds to Earth maybe Black doom knew about the emeralds even back then and was trying to get them but stayed hidden to not get the ends attention. And maybe tried searching for them when he found out they went to Earth but they had already left starfall and the emeralds were gone at the time. And Black doom never found angel island before he had to leave.
Perhaps Shadow needs to figure out how to defeat Black Doom so he turns to his family for help. He learns of Sages existence since she is Dr Eggmans Daughter. Maybe Sage can only exist on the Starfall Islands so Shadow tracks down Sage on Chaos Island.
I remember an old theory about the time eater being some remaining part of Mephiles. The comment you made on Kingdom Valley made me think about that, Having Mephiles play a role in this game would be crazy

Maybe the Gerald journal from the physical version(I think you can find pages in the levels aswell) will include chaos island
while watching this video and in the second theory I noticed that the black arms and the ancients have 3 fingers on their hand and only 2 toes so my theory is that the black arms are a different type or version of the ancients and since both of them came came from another planet, you know just like how there are different types and versions of animals like the cats and the tigers something like that
Huh, that’s an interesting thought. And it’s very possible that it’s true. Evolution is extremely possible in this case, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Also, since the ancients bought the Chaos Emeralds to earth… It could be that the Black Comet came with it.
Given the Black Arms plan was made around the Chaos Emeralds and they also had a ruin-like mechanism on earth, the Ancients being watery beings and Black Arms vaguely aquatic in appearance the 2 could be from the same homeworld.
I think chaos could be related to his past and Gerald went to the starfall islands

I’m really looking forward how Chao’s Island is going to traveling into Sonic X Shadow Generations because Shadow never appears in Sonic Frontiers. It would make sense that Sonic X Shadow Gens takes place after Sonic fights Shadow in Sonic Generations. I can’t wait to see how Black Doom will be able to teleport Shadow through time and space.

If shadow gotta fight the end he won’t stand a chance even with his super form and doom powers. The end is basically a primordial being like im talking god himself level of power. And it took sonic pushing himself almost to death to just kill the end in its weakened form.
Well there's that Gerald diary/journal thing that has been advertise in the trailers of Sonic x Shadow generations. So there's a possibility that it can be link to Chaos Island
My first thought upon hearing this and not knowing sonic lore that much is that while Sonic is having a time adventure, Shadow's enemy is focusing on the space part while riding the coattails of the time anomalies.
Theory 2 and 3 seem very likely. And i love them very much. Im glad Doom is back. He Sure is one Villain who sticks in your Memory. I hope Mephiles is also in there. Both are good Villains who are remember worthy. And both are heavy linked to Shadow. Them working together could be possible but i think they would betray themselves at some Point.

Hear me out. We all know about Shadow calling infinite weak and pathetic, right? What if he actually meant it? What if he fought him before? This led me to believe that we may fight infinite in the game.
I know this is unrelated from the video but i just wanted to point this out.
Also, more related to the video, Gerald may have found the cyberspace portal in sky sanctuary, leading to him finding the starfall islands and starting his research on the acients.
He called him that because Infinite pre Phantom Ruby was just another Random Joe that happened to be another pawn to Eggman that Shadow had to deal with, Shadow didn't know him. Infinite on the other hand, took those insults personally and fast foward, starts wearing a mask and goes after Shadow just to prove a point

Maybe black doom was some conection with the time eater. I mean time eater was found by eggman in space.and the black arms come for space, also the meteor that the black arms lived can trasport through space(and maybe time) so yea thats my theory. (I know its a strech, i just wanted to make some theory just for fun).
Maybe Shadow is partially made from some of the ancients’ technology. A lot of their strongest machines were specifically colored red, white, and black. Gerald would probably want to use the most powerful technology of the ancients to make his ultimate lifeform. Sure, it could be because of Shadow’s Black Doom DNA that he’s colored like that, but Black Doom also wasn’t a hedgehog, sooo-

With theory 2 its possible that gerald discovered the cyberspace portal that knuckles found in sky sanctuary. More evidence of gerald learning about the ancients.
personally i think that this could tie into all alien energy and lifeforms. chaos energy, i think, is boost energy. you get it from rings, and the boost is like microdosing super sonic, as it acts in unleashed/gens/colors. as we know, the boost in colors is from wisps hyper-go-on energy. and gives remarkably similar effects? hmm i wonder why. the black arms bear a striking resemblance to the ancients, at least in proportions and head shape. notably their eyes especially. they could be another tribe of the ancients, they clearly know a lot about the chaos emeralds. the time eater itself is alien too, being found by eggman in space after sonic colors, and with its godlike powers its not out of place next to the ancients, black arms, super sonic and shadow. because of this im hoping we get a boss fight with the mother wisp, and an asteroid coaster level. i also hope we get new sonic levels for lost world, forces, and frontiers! but thats another story
Hey hear me out in sonic generations at the end shadow appears in Sonic's party right then that means that in the end of the shadow portion of gens we're going to appear in Sonic's party so sonic and shadow both finish their adventure at the same time
(If you need evidence of this just watch the ending cutscene of gens)
I always felt that the Time Eater itself was possibly Mephiles due to the fact he had been effectively erased from existance, but a common theme with demonic entities in fiction is power vacuums need to be filled one way or another, and somehow Mephiles still existed despite Solaris' flame being put out after 06 ended.

We did get an animated trailer with Emerl in it. Who is another being made by an ancient race Gerald found and started poking to figure out how it works.
If I were to guess, this is mainly going to show us everything Gerald did and try to make it in a neat package.
Shadow contains the blood of black doom, so perhaps some of the locations we visit are based on memories of places doom himself visited. Furthermore, Doom is quite potent at using the space time power of chaos control. His self proclaimed title of “the immortal life form” and the fact that sky troops, a stage in STH is explained to have been transported to earth by the black arms thousands of years ago in preparation for the invasion of earth all demonstrates the possibility that Doom very much had interactions with the ancients and the emeralds long ago.
Imagine we fight sonic like fighting shadow in the base generations
Considering black doom knows of the chaos emeralds, who’s to say he hasn’t tried invading the world while the ancient were alive? It would be cool to see the ancients vs the black arms, and the ancients have tech literally made to fight a planet destroyer so I could see them defeating the black arms
I think it may be the simplist solution that is true. And in my mind it's black doom using the carnage of what the time eater has done to his advantage. Having his army attack multiple points in time and shadow goes there to stop them

I think when he said it takes place at the same time as Sonic Gens, just remember, Sonic Gens takes place in a timevoid. It could be a Shadow from modern times going into the timevoid and going through all of this at the same time as 2011 Sonic.
I wonder if maybe the black arms will be tied into the end somehow, I kind of wish though we got to see more elements of the timelines eras mix, like singing perfect chaos and Metal overlord battling it out because that would be insane, I wonder if maybe the bonus character will be Metal Sonic, because if he meets the character at the ark maybe metal to see if metal could interfere with the history to save Maria and his grandfather somehow, it is like a 0% chance of this happening but it would be really cool and I will never complain about a chance to play Metal Sonic
the fact that Black Doom straight up allows Shadow to control the power of the chaos emeralds themselves.......... Yeah Chaos Island IS IMPORTANT! And the other race that were involved with using the power of the emeralds were The Ancients!

Maybe shadow can visit chaos island because of the second playable character that has been teased, maybe that playable character has visited chaos island and sunset height, like sonic who visited modern stages where classic sonic didn't but still played in those modern stages.
According to Ian Flynn, Sega intended the Time Eater to be a reborn Mephiles, with some portion of him surviving. Nothing haven't been confirmed, however. If you compare both Mephiles and the Time Eater they both share similar color schemes (black and purple), and their bodies transform later in game.

If Gerald did have research on Chaos Island, it could explain why Eggman's actions on Chaos Island. SAGE said that Chaos Island is where he left his Death Egg Robot he rode in on, and Sonic notices that Eggman has thermal energy generators on Chaos Island. That could all show that Eggman knew about Chaos Island ahead of time, and so he used it as an entry point to scavenge the rest of the islands, while also generating power for the machines he planned to build there before getting trapped in Cyberspace.
Perhaps all this shows that Eggman could have referenced Gerald's research before investigating further into the Starfall Islands; heck, if Gerald did explore Chaos Island, maybe that's how Eggman found out about the Starfall Islands in the first place.
Hmm, that’s extremely possible. I like the idea of that. But we’ll just have to wait and see.

If Sonic generations isn't revealed to take place after frontiers, then the idea that shadow can travel forward in time could lead us to getting new levels based on places we haven't seen yet.

I remember Iizuka saying that they would have some kind of equivalent to the dual Classic/Modern Sonic stages in Shadow's campaign. I'm wondering whether maybe the way they do that is have 50% Shadow's past and 50% Shadow's future 🤔
I don’t believe Sonic’s generation of past games and Shadow’s path of some levels in some Sonic games are connected to each other in terms of time when it comes to this game. Sonic generations is just a fully updated remaster, while Shadow Generations is “the” new story of the next Sonic game.
To explain my theory about it, since Black Doom hasn’t been in all the other Sonic games for almost 20 years, ever since Shadow 05, maybe it’s more likely he would be entitled to re-create himself as if it, now, seems like it’s the right time for him to. Plus, Shadow is also receiving new powers created by Black Doom, unless his new powers were named after him, whether it could be a trick to misplace the word “Chaos” with that, or, it could be a resemblance of him being part of the series itself, specifically for Shadow’s own game. These powers are like the Wisps.
Now when it comes to the time eater in Shadow’s side of the story, perhaps it’s causing Black Doom to reappear somehow, which means the story is going to show the same way the Sonic has gone through time, going through every past stage he’s been through to defeat his time eater, but for Shadow. Moreover, it will also seem that Shadow is gonna cross paths with Black Doom while he is chasing after “his” time eater, especially. Overall, not only black doom is gonna re-create himself, but the time eater of Shadow’s generation will bring him back, along with all the other bosses Shadow fought before.

I know Ian Flynn has talked several times about a story pitch he had back in archie about mephiles and black doom both coming back and teaming up. He said it was shot down because sega wanted them both to stay dead at the time. And now hes writing this game where black doom is coming back and time shenanigans are happening. I wonder if shadow generations is going to be based on that same story pitch. I think its pretty likely. I 100% think mephiles is involved
good sir we got people asking why because of Shadow's lack of a connection to it and the placement of Shadow Generations being during Sonic Generations, which makes the timeline placement of Frontiers impossible. a friend of mine said that maybe Black Doom is messing with Shadow's memories somehow and that's why we see a small glimpse of Chaos Island
One tiny info I may have. With black doom. I believe black doom some how has ability to cross to the future and saw to cross timeline. Due with eggman time eater making worst. It will probably make an open understanding that sonic and shadow will cross again with a new game. Giving more new ancient evil names to face off
I like to think that all of the Shadow campaign took place all the way back in 2011, and my 13 year old self knew nothing about it while playing gens

In sonic frontiers in one of the egg memos Eggman stated that the ancients predated the black arms by a wide margin so I doubt they have a connection

What if we get a "Final Story" after completing the campaigns of both Sonic and Shadow where we fight a fusion of Devil Doom and The Time Eater, maybe called the "Time Devil".
The time either remove time and space so it's kind of past levels and future levels but when did Shadow was in chaos Island at the future
My theory is Sonic Team had the assets and listened to concerns that the game might be too short. So they buffed it up. Why is Chaos Island a good pick? The most unique Frontiers setting and .... they have the Titans already. So if they want a boss fight it's right there. I'm placing an outside bet that Shadow shows up AFTER the events of Frontiers and one of the Titans (probably Supreme/The End) has clung to life and starts going berserk. So base form Shadow has to put down a wounded Titan. I will accept Super Shadow, though.
My theory is maybe shadow arrived on chaos island way before sonic and co, since the place where the death egg robo sleeps is different than the one on frontiers chaos island. Black Doom already knows about the ancient by this time and tried to have shadow control the mechs and unlock cyber powers??? But whatever happen, it would be cool to see phantom rush sonic vs doom shadow

Frontiers is one of their most recent games, of course they're going to connect them and not let those assets go to waste
I think people are propping this up to be way more than it is, and expecting a brand new story-driven Shadow game. But it's called "Generations" for a reason. The description about Shadow facing his past and the rehashed enemies make it pretty clear it's going to be the same type of game as the original Sonic Generations: a series of older levels with a new coat of paint and a vague overarching narrative tying it together. I wouldn't even be surprised if it doesn't tie in to Sonic Generations' plot at all.
The reason for Chaos Island being there is probably just because they have the assets, and it's easier to reuse them than make new ones.
I am also convinced its connected and i hope once they create Frontiers 2 Shadow will be in it. I loved the way Sonic interacts in Frontiers hopefully Frontiers will also release one day and Shadow will play a huge part in it. I gues that will happen if this Sonic X Shadow Generations will succeed.
Imagine if it is black doom and mephelis and that they merge together in the final boss just like mephelis with iblis

Maybe black doom got a hold of the master emerald or chaos emerald and maybe he uses the power of the chaos emerald to control time and shadow to the past like set them back to Kingdom Valley space colony, ark bullet station and maybe shadow was struggling so much that black doom got stronger and he now has the infinity to control future time to where he sends shadow to the future, which is chaos Island and Sunset from forces and make him face familiar enemies like the bio lizard and metal overlord and black doom himself that’s my theory
I honestly think Chaos and the Chao are related to the race from Frontiers and the idea of Shadow going their before sonic and the gane seems plausible and fine to me.
That said, knowing the fact that Sega won't give is a classic looking Shadow in a 2d sonic because of the timeline; and that's my biggest dream game a classic sonic style gane staring Shadow. That said I hope they change the lore or timeline enough to finally give us a classic looking Shadow. Or be just be more like Nintendo and not for artistic designs dictate timeline placement haha

Tbh it's not too far fetched to assume that we're just simply traveling to future events, in fact we literally already see this in base Gens. Two words: "Crisis City."
Wether or not 06 was truly completely erased from the timeline, remember that Crisis City still technically takes place some 200 years in the FUTURE. It's only the "past" relative to Sonic and co.
For sure. I think the thing that makes crisis city “just slap it in because it’s an old level” is because Sonic has actually been there before despite its erasure from the timeline, and the fact gens was just a greatest hits collection. Given the new focus on more cohesive lore, and the fact shadow hasn’t been there, it makes me curious as to whether or not a more interesting explanation will happen.
