- For this data visualization I used the original data showing the total number of connections instead of calculating per capita. I point out the start of the different connection rollout throughout this period. I chose to start in 1990 because that's when prices of phones were becoming more accessible to the masses and when services were becoming widely available.

Was surprised to see how long it took India to get near the top
Maybe that's because lots of people were moved above poverty level.
Cool Video! Thanks for putting in the effort!
I think its impressive that China and India can hand more than a billion cell phone connections and the US struggles with 1/4.
epic. what is the name of the music?

China doesn't even have that many people, so there is something fishy there.
That's true for most countries at the end of the 2022 list
One for scamming us and another for personal use?
@@Nuyoah. Hehe, Iwas just joking around😄. I know that most of you are good people, and only a few are trying to scam us.
Hopefully we never land up fighting each other.

I'm fairly sure the main reason Russia is so high is because of botnets. You could have thousands of sim cards being used by a single person.
Firstly, in Russia SIM cards are sold only with the provision of passport data, so one person with thousands of SIM cards is hardly possible.
Secondly, a huge number of sales of SIM cards are provoked by an aggressive price war between telecom operators, which forced people to switch from one operator to another. Until 2019, about 100 million SIM cards were sold in Russia per year (with a population of about 150 million), then a gradual decline began (a number of laws were adopted, for example, that a person who changes operators can keep the old number for himself, even connecting to another operator, etc.)
Thirdly, due to the size of the country, there was a big price difference in roaming depending on the region, which forced many to have several SIM cards at the same time.
For example, I have a smartphone with two SIM cards, one for calls in the region where I live, and the other for calls in the region where my parents live when I am visiting them. For the same reason, my parents have two SIM cards, that is, for three of us we have six SIM cards, my mother-in-law also has two, because one has free calls to the same operator in the region, and the other has a cheap mobile internet, etc.
Sorry for google translate
@Jedistache No doubt that you know how things are in Russia better than me, who was born in the USSR and has been living here for 44 years =]
@@TafferDP I work for Deutsche Telecom and what he says is consistent with what I hear on the subject.
@@M167A1 I don’t really understand what Deutsche Telecom has to do with Russia, but if you prefer to see the world in their interpretation, then I have nothing to answer you except wishing you good luck
