I love his version of this timeless classic! His version is so soulful, almost etheral! See folks this is a true singer! When you can come out on a stage, stand at a michrophone, with a single piano and pour your heart and soul out to an audience, that,s a talent! I wish id been in the front row that day to experience this in person! Bravo! I would have given him 2 standi g ovations! He should do a old soul jazz albumn! He,s so smooth and natural! Id buy the albumn!
I was sitting in front of you and noticed you were recording and prayed you'd upload this. One of the greatest vocal performances I've witnessed. Thank you.
I saw you sing this at the Auckland NZ. concert I was in the second row from the front ,your amazing your voice is so beautiful,I was memorised by you love loved loved the best evening of my life 💕💕💃🌈
I am someone who would normally only respect musicians who write and perform... But Rufus is one of two who I respect for amazing musicality and a wonderful voice... The other is before my time.. Frank Sinatra.. Rufus might just win!
Can’t believe I will be seeing you very soon ,your voice is amazing I love how you include the crowd with your wit and humour just love everything about you 🌈🌈💕💕
That was an incredible show. I discovered him when Poses came out and it's still my favorite Rufus album. But this Joni cover may have been the highlight of the night.
Saw you sing this in your Auckland concert,I was in the second row from the front OMG 😮 what a night ,your an awesome human with the voice of an angel 🌈🌈💕💕
pam joseph we heard him sing this, then did our own version last week (Gib Williamson youtube "Both side now") up here in Auckland, thanks for having a look
@@Celatra you are absolutely correct, saying "I love you" is used and is appropriate for non sexual relationships. My point is that many people in LGBT relationships or lives often feel like they can't be honest or announce their love like straight folks can. The song also is clearly speaking of romantic love, which existence is often even denied to be (your post as an example). I know plenty of older (and younger) gays and lesbians that don't have the hottest of sex lives, but are still in loving, romantic relationships, that, in this day and age, still don't feel comfortable affirming, as a straight couple would. My point is straight couples often, but not always, take for granted the freedom they have to love, without prejudice and hatred.
No one does it better than Rufus Wainwright.

Joni, Judy, or Rufus, doesn't matter, I still get misty over this song. What a performance! This man knows how to sing a song!
His voice is so pure. Thank you for the upload.
So relaxed, yet so professional. Seen Rufus live, courtesy of my son, Adam. An unforgettable and cherished present.

I’ve known the lyrics to this song almost from the day it came out. I can still remember
Playing it on our old piano in my hobo boots!
The silence of the audience speaks volumes.... Can't wait for March 21 and Joni at 75.
It's so hard to keep it together watching this again. I was up in the balcony, it's even better up close😭❤️
Perfect Pitch . . . simply sublime!
tears run all across my face....beauty....

Me too. Poses made me fall in love with Rufus at the Vic years ago. It's an incredible song about so many different things.
Want One edged out Poses for me, but only just. It was close, but then I heard Dinner at Eight, which sealed the deal!
I love this man... it seems like if he's making love to the song!. So heartfelt
Magnifique! merci pour le partage
OMG your voice is amazing how I’m looking forward to seeing you in March in NZ ,such talent and your wit makes me smile 💃
......and wasn’t he so worth the wait. Outstanding concert in Wellington from such an appreciative crowd.

Saw him in Amsterdam and this was wonderful.
Stunning! I want this sheet music! ❤️
Jees these canooks are good😊
Only Rufus could have done this.
So true. Rufus is a genius and is best heard live. Anyone who has the chance to see him live shouldn't miss him.
And maybe Brandi Carlyle. She did the whole Blue album.
Just love 👍
Joni Mitchell would be proud.
Yes !
''Both Sides Now'' lyrics
Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud's illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Moons and Junes and ferries wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way
But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud,
To say "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way
But now old friends they're acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day.
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
I've looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Just fucking wow
I've often wondered if straight people, truly, get how much the line, "To say 'I love you' right out loud" can mean for the LGBT+ crowd.
For fuck sake don't bring that out here. It also applies to non sexual relationships.

@@christopherlundgren3499 sorry, had my own emotional struggles when typing that response.
@@Celatra yo, cool beans. We've all had a grumpy day or a grumpy issue. No worries, no blame 😀
