- One interesting fan theory suggests that, yes, Liz is in fact Red's daughter - because Red was previously known as Katarina Rostova
This episode is a huge red herring, they give it away at least three times, but it's so subtle, and it's so early in the series that you totally miss it.

This episode confused the hell out of me when it was first on, and it stayed with me too. I finally put it together after the season 8 finale. This was the biggest hint about Red being Katerina. He knew how she "died" alone, how would he have known that unless he was there. And he was! He's Katerina!!!!!!!

It seems like the Raymond Reddington we have watched for 8 yrs is Katrina Rostov. It seems like it, I am 75% certain. I would be more, with the way this show has been and all the twists and changes I cant be 100%.

@@NatnaelMulatu Yeah, I found it logic, when they said real Red was dead. Before it I had doubts, I saw many gaps, after it, chaos came in order. I could not explain before it, why Red had visions about little Masha, when real Red has not lived with her, also why Katarina`s husband did not kill him, or why was he so close with Katarina`s dad, or why worked with him Katarinas`s asistent Mr. Kaplan. I know it is tv show, but it is really silly, when FBI`s best analytic Keen could not find real reasons, even after todays episode. But I think Keen is poisoned by that woman, with whom she left her daughter and that is why she sees Mr. Kaplans ghost.
He is Katarina. He was thinking about himself no doubt.
So looking forward to The Blacklist tonight! The best show on TV.

This is a scene that also proves red is Katerina. It was basically answered in season 8 finale. These scene helps support it. I don’t think they’re ever gonna blatantly put it out there because they’re all spies. The show gives you just enough to know that red is katarina. They’re never gonna say it because in the world of spies it’s always about lies, allusion, and hiding and changing your identities.

I think Red, Ilya and Katerina are childhood friends, grew up in the same community in Russia. They became Russian spies against the U.S govt, under Dom's guidance and tutelage, since Dom too was a kgb. Reddington came to america under the name of Raymond Reddington & enlisted himself in the U.S. Navy. Learned the tricks of the profession while making friends in the underworld on the side. He was obsessed & totally in love with Katerina. When Red thought Katerina died, he made it an obligation to protect and look after Liz, since Liz is the only living piece of Katerina that is left. He may, or may not be Liz's father, but he has to protect Liz from the criminal world that he and Katerina put themselves into. His obsession of Liz being a part of his life goes the same way he feels about Katerina whom he wanted so so bad to be a part of his life, but, circumstances didn't allow them. Maybe he killed Katerina, or was instrumental in making Katerina's meltdown as a kgb agent in the eyes of their russian agency. That's why Dom was so angry at Red, to the point of telling him not to go near Liz, even talk or see the child. Red has so much respect for Dom, that he obliged. Only when he felt that Liz has come of age that he decided to come out and be with Liz, even if it meant surrendering himself to the FBI.

You assume that he knew the truth. Even if he did though he is no longer Katarina.

The bones were not katarina's so Kaplan was obviously not talking about digging her up. So then she must have been speaking about some form of betrayal. That betrayal was that Kaplan was going to reveal Katarina's secret, that she is Red.

This is actually made very clear in Requiem when Kaplan says to Katrina and Red that she will put Masha's needs first. This was done specifically to draw a parallel between Katarina and Red.

That isn't proof. It is one guy's opinion that isn't substantiated, full of assumptions that are obviously wrong (like that requiem placed Katarina and Red in the same moment in the timeline, somehow he missed that several years had passed) and who is obviously drunk. I have in fact seen all his videos and had discussions with him and frankly, he has trouble following along with the story and often mis-characterises things that happen in the episodes he is referring to.
If you at the very least don't think that the Redarina theory is the main purposeful mislead then you are in deep denial. Cape May literally tells the audience many times over that Katarina is Red.It beats the viewer over the head with imagery, planed verbal ambiguity, and association with other episodes that blatantly connects Red and Katarina as the same person.
Raymond Reddington is not Katarina. My points in season six Raymond is arrested. In federal prison, the authorities will do a strip search. Especially, the charges Raymond had place on him. The prison system would of been able to tell if he had gender reassignment surgery done. I have no clue who he would be. I either think he is another lover of Katarina. He obviously had a family before Katarina and girlfriends. He may just be Raymond Reddington and switch the forensic DNA report.

I just saw from season 1 to 10 and I was left with no other answer as to Raymond's identity... at least as far as what was shown on the show, sometimes whispered, never openly stated (like almost everything) .... That Red is Katarina. The alternatives make more water or have no mention on the show. The claim that Kaplan wouldn't betray Katarina is just proof that the people who refuse to believe Red was Katarina are in denial. Kaplan indicated to both Katarina and Red that she would betray them if it was what was best for Liz. Not only does Kaplan herself say she would betray Katarina over Liz, but this fact is actually used as a way to draw a correlation between Red and Katarina. Red said under truth serum that Liz was his daughter and it was confirmed many times in many different ways that the real Redding was Liz's father and that Red was an imposter.

The theory goes that after Reddington was killed the night of the fire (shoot by a young Masha/Liz), Katarina became Reddington later on to use his identity to keep the Cabal at bay with the threat of the Fulcrum (which they knew he had before his death) and built a criminal empire to match the threat.

Beauty of this episode : Cape May was in totality , Raymond was trying to rethink all the happenings which might have occurred 30 yrs ago which in the end left him talking to himself and duly noted by the Man on beach that he has seen only Red in this area for past 2weeks. He went there to grieve about Liz's fake death orchestrated by Kaplan This Cape May is the same spot where it was rumored that Kat went in waters disappeared and never came back which is the same explanation he always gave to liz about her mother, In episode Rassvet we see Kat coming out of waters and survived because she had no strong guts to get wept away in waters.I seriously laugh at people's imagination of not understanding the art and while watching this episode ended up saying Red is Katarina 😂😂😂😂 Like Katarina will change her sex to become Raymond Reddington and Mr Kaplan who has duly promised Kat to keep Masha safe won't ever know that Red is Katarina 😂 Or whosever this red is will never tell Mr Kaplan that who he is ! and allow her to destroy his multi millions empire. @@butchcassidy1997 Red's identity had always been Katarina. There are many things in the show that signaled this that is why the theory developed so early. Red says everything about him is a lie, Kat has Red hair= Red is his nick name, Red says Liz is his daughter but never says he is her father...and much more. The show creator has said that Red's ID was decided from the beginning and Spader was told before shooting. One of the staff writers has confirmed that the show creators told the writing staff at the beginning of season 2 that red was Katarina.
Nothing was changed it was obvious and you just missed it.
