I love how such as desperate feel for the Imperium is created, I think watching/reading about the Imperium battling on through impossible odds is way more interesting than watching vast and powerful tank armies and hordes of infantry steam roll the enemy.
I just sort of stumbled upon this and hadn't heard of these "battle reports" before, but I genuinely appreciate all the effort that you guys put into helping me see the game and scenario with the same passion that you do. The narration is top notch and visual fidelity of the units and map are incredible.
Was a massive fun game. Always a pleasure to travel down to play you bud. Like you said well done to James and Ben for there tactics. Maybe I should have just concentrated on infinitely with my Talos to rack up the points. Lesson learnt for next time. Who knows maybe the Dark Eldar arnt done with that planet yet? And you never know Eldar Corsairs could be spotted in the Void...
"In this moment we await the verdict of our God Emperor! He looks upon us in this dire hour to find us worthy of His Hand. Given His bulwark, His hammer and Grace against these most heathenous Xenos, it is our mettle that shall be tested! Men, today I look upon the finest of Mankind, as does our Immortal Emperor, and I ask you, shall the Throne find you wanting or shall you rend the foe and receive His blessing? Are you not the mightiest? Are you not the holiest? Are you not unbreakable? Upon your shoulders rests the Imperium, bear it well, and His glory shan't be fleeting. By the Grace of the Golden Throne, we march!"
Ouch. What a way to go for an arrogant eldar: A krak grenade to the face...from a humble guardsman. I think my favorite moment though was the yin-yang charge of the young archon. Imagine the internal dialogue he must have been having with himself: (double 1 rolled) "This is insane. Your just one eldar in the heart of the enemy's lines. You heard what happened to your cousin leading the charge on the bunker. Head blown off by a common soldier. Your facing a tank. What can you hope to achieve but an early death? What can you do?....I know what I can do! I can bring terror! I can bring death! By the strength of my arm and the heritage in my blood, I CAN BRING VICTORY!!! (double 6 rolled) YAAAAAAAHHHH!!!" ruclips.net/video/MF49-yj5TcY/видео.htmlh36m56s
Yeah! That's the kind of epic stuff i like to show people when i tell them about my/our hobby, great game guys! Well played by both sides. I think that what hurt the Dark Kin the most, was all those immobilised results, and losing more than half the airforce before it did critical damage to the Imperial armour.
If I was the IG/SM commander, I would have deployed slightly differently. I would have spread out a bit more; the extra space used to create over-lapping lanes of fire! It would also mean that the Dark Eldar would have to spread their forces out more, meaning that it wasn't just a case of the entire DE force charging up the middle. Super-heavy tank, 2 Lemans, IG veteran squad in Chimera and normal IG infantry unit supported by a SM squad in Rhino, Vindicator on the left and the same on the right. The centre would have had the Titan, the 3 Hellhounds, Vindicator. Auto-Cannon squad in between left and centre supported by a Dreadnought, the missile squad in between the centre and the right also supported by a Dreadnought. Centre forward would have the conscripts, Heavy Bolter Squad and Terminator Squad in cover. Back-centre = Sniper squad, the Predator front-left and the Sternguard would come in by Drop-pod to support it I don't know enough, barely anything, about the DE army and would not know where to start in deploying them or using them!
hard to tell what was the best part... the table, the armies, the look, the quotes, the game... everything awesome as always! even though 2 hours are quite long! i just took a quick look on your videos, but did not find what i was looking for: is there a tutorial for the "wrecked" markers? the glow looks so nice!
+Morten Albertsen (Mineraleater) Yes in the painting tutorials section: How to Make Burning Vehicle Markers! It will show you exactly how to do it step by step:)
Great narrative game. Really showed off the characters of both armies. Especially the DEs slicing through the battlefield with lightning speed. Those big templates are scary, but I guess once you get amongst the ranks of friendly units, their size makes them hard to place.
Another stellar battle report! This was well played by both sides and kept me gripped until the end. I use my chromecast and watch your videos on my big tv in the front room, and it feels so cinematic! Congratulations to James(and team), it's about time he got a well deserved win! :) Of course well done for playing on till the end, Luke(and team). Your channel has re-sparked my interest in 40k and I'm keen to finish my armies and get back to playing some games. I may even dabble in recording them too. I'm rambling now.. Thanks for the video, it came out great!
Good game and congrats to the home team. A worthy effort on the raiding team's part, but just didn't have the man power to cover that massive map and lay hold of the objectives. I think it would have made quite a difference if you had used the talos formation to kill both the scout squad and the conscripts rather than the warlord's squad. That would've given you 2 VPs right there. Instead, they spent the whole game just slogging up the table. Still, all in all an enjoyable game. I was pleased to see the chaplain survive the game. I thought it was pretty cool the way he pursued his own personal crusade alone within the eldar lines, no doubt seeking retribution for his fallen battle brothers.
Good battle report, I always have had a soft spot for your apocalypse narratives especially when it is Imperials holding on to life by the skin of their teeth!
+It's the work horse of the Imperial Guard, Knight Commander Pask rejected a Baneblade when it was offered to him, in favor of the classic Leman Russ, it seems to have served him well since he killed a Titan with it.
nice game, but an important note for the Deldar players, Cronos and talos engines don't have power from pain, so they couldn't have gotten zealot or IWND, some thing that people miss a lot.
+GregTehGoose WOW!!! Thanks for pointing this out. I am building a Dark Eldar army and will soon be adding these engines. I think I would have made the same mistake. That makes a big difference.
amazing game i really enjoyed that. so much happened! awesome armies and scenario. The stern guard getting mascaraed was probably my moment of the game..
Awesome terrain and scenario and really cool models. Love seing your apocalypse bat reps :-) Oh, and by the way a 5 man squad of fire dragons in a wave serpent can kill a warhound. Have done it twice ;-)
unit of the game...for tieing units up, locking combat and single hand survival...the chaplain is obviously emperor blessed. as always the terrain looks great and very atmospheric now how about a rematch with the tables turned using some high mobility Imp Guard and allied units doing a commando style raid to take down a static eldar super heavy, blitz their airfield and make off with an Archon or two. 'Pasks' charge of the light brigade....
+Andy Tyrrell Charge of the light brigade is so 40k. :) Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred. - Excerpt from The Charge of the Light Brigade
You could fire on the chaplain, can't be locked in combat with a vehicle unless its a chariot or walker, being in base contact with anything other than those just means you can hit it in the assault phase, but it can still be fired at.
Why didn't you deep strike more of your Dark Eldar? Ravagers, Raiders and venoms completely surrounding the imperial position would have really pressed the Imperials. A couple webway portals with your haemonculous or archons and you would have been able to place your Talos in the middle of the imperial bunker with four squish guard squads.
I'm disappointed with Ultramarines. Much respect for brother Chaplain. If not for the immobilised units, the Dark Eldar would surely win. Emperor be praised!
i always get my hell hounds forword spraying the open top raiders burn every bastard in them, there just no good at the back. id love to see you use them move forword 12 into any cover and lite them up . Its work great for me fire and move and fire and move they have 12inch rang and 8 on the flain plat 18 inch it works great for me . i think they would do much better much more damage and you slow the advanes so your back line lays into them just a suggsion. that was a great game loved it
Why were you rolling for the penetration on the super heavy with the haywire guns? They are not ap2 or 1 so there was no point rolling, just a hull point loss. You can't claim jink saves on a unit that got hit by an explosion from a vehicle, and that vindicator formation seriously what the heck?? All 3 moved up and died without doing anything lol
ThealinGaming yeah true, there was some pretty noob errors here but that always seems apparent when this guy plays, striking scorpion himself however is a pretty good tactitian
I have this feeling that it will only be a matter of time before Hay Wire on Super Heavies is nerfed in the same way Sniper and Poison was for Gargantuan Monstrous Creatures. Against some armies Super Heavy Tanks are a waste of time.
Not in this battle report and it looks like sadly not in the rule book either. I'm looking at pg.94 and pg.165 and I can find no "only on a 6" exception.
As of the rules in the book, not sure if there has been a FaQ. Invincible Behemoth only stops the effects of weapons that change the armour value of the vehicle. And not weapons that count the armour being lower then what it is (such as Lance Weapons) and has no effect on Grav or Haywire weapons as both skip rolling for armour penetration and roll for effect. It's also the rule that causes d3 extra hull points for an explodes result. Sadly no "only on a 6" like Unstoppable for Gargantuans.
Horrible deployment by the Dark Eldars. If they had deployed on the width of the board, where the titan is, they would have ran right through the imperial lines. The imperial guard and SM would have had to shoot across they battle lines, they wouldnt have seen a thing. Sad to see the DE not being used to their full potential.
I love how such as desperate feel for the Imperium is created, I think watching/reading about the Imperium battling on through impossible odds is way more interesting than watching vast and powerful tank armies and hordes of infantry steam roll the enemy.

+Ian Fitchett thanks for the feedback:)
Of all the gaming channels, you always have the best battlefield's/terrain. Awesome bat-rep, well, as ever!!! :D
Well, so much for going to bed early haha!
+Greg Harris lol:)
Was a massive fun game. Always a pleasure to travel down to play you bud. Like you said well done to James and Ben for there tactics.

Eldar are on the drawing board but as I haven't started them yet may be corsairs.
Will do thanks bud.
+IIHouseOfGeekII Thanks Matt for coming down...was a awesome game:)
+StrikingScorpion82 how did you guys make those trueborn models?
+Toxic Hazza Those are Matt's models...ask him:) He is the one at the top of this comments...HouseofGeek...

I only recently started watching your videos, but SS82 is quickly becoming my favorite 40k youtuber. I love the number of apocalypse games you post
+2BuckChuck thanks...glad you enjoy the videos:) More apoc games on the way:)

+Fenix Reborn Can't script that kind of stuff happening in a game! 40K moments at their best!:D
What grey colors was used for those guard tanks??? I've been trying to find two that go together well for a while
Same colours and technique as used in my How to Paint Imperial Guard painting tutorial:)
Yeah! That's the kind of epic stuff i like to show people when i tell them about my/our hobby, great game guys! Well played by both sides. anyone else screaming at the ultramarine player on where he put the vidicators terminators and sternguard? thousand points completly wasted
As always guys, great models! I must admit this channel was one of the reasons that our group got into 40k!
+Acropolis Games Glad you enjoyed it:)
one dislike...what, did Matt Ward see this?
hard to tell what was the best part... the table, the armies, the look, the quotes, the game... everything awesome as always! even though 2 hours are quite long!

+StrikingScorpion82 thank you! damn those mobile previews ^^
You can never be 'locked' in combat with vehicles, you can always shoot a unit in base with a vehicle even if it is stunned.
Absolutely love the table, models, and scenario. Well done!
+Luca Hassan thanks, glad you enjoyed it:)
Absolutely love your apocalypse games!!!! Well done again Scorpion!
+Reed Cothron thanks:)
Fantastic terrain! Cool models and smoke. Looks amazing!
+MultiJamesman Full tutorial for making the smoke on my channel:)
***** I saw that, very helpful thanks!
Great narrative game. Really showed off the characters of both armies. Especially the DEs slicing through the battlefield with lightning speed. Those big templates are scary, but I guess once you get amongst the ranks of friendly units, their size makes them hard to place.
+ep1phany62 Glad you enjoyed the game:)
would love to see a chaos apocalypse game!!!
+bikechef999 maybe one day!:)
Another stellar battle report! This was well played by both sides and kept me gripped until the end. I use my chromecast and watch your videos on my big tv in the front room, and it feels so cinematic!
Congratulations to James(and team), it's about time he got a well deserved win! :)
Of course well done for playing on till the end, Luke(and team).
Your channel has re-sparked my interest in 40k and I'm keen to finish my armies and get back to playing some games. I may even dabble in recording them too.
I'm rambling now.. Thanks for the video, it came out great!
+Alex Jey cool...glad you enjoyed it:)
i have a question where the imperial guard player find the formation of hellhound
1:19:43- what music was that? It was awesome!
+Alec Benge Music used is posted in the credits.
Why don't the IG ever bring along a hydra squad to deal with the flyers?
Love that metallic green color on the fliers, is it a spray or a hand paint and which one?
+Kristian Teegerstrom Full painting tutorial for Dark Eldar on my channel...I show exactly how it is done:)
That was excellent, more Apoc please!! =)
+Diago Jones We hope to:)
Your channel is amazing but can you do a vidio on imperial guard tatics and formations.
+Ethan Clarke-Dennett planning a codex review soon:)

+Tommonius was a good one this one:)
great battle. so happy the chaplain survived
+Matthew Schultz I think he deserved to!:)
The Leman Russ Tank!
The line infantry of Imperial Guard Tanks.
+It's the work horse of the Imperial Guard, Knight Commander Pask rejected a Baneblade when it was offered to him, in favor of the classic Leman Russ, it seems to have served him well since he killed a Titan with it.
seraphx26 Well yeah, but I still consider it the Line Infantry of Imperial Guard Tanks because it's one of the most widely used ones.
Postmaster AFK man That's literally what I just said though
"It's the workhorse of the Imperial Guard"
seraphx26 But a work horse isn't line infantry. It's a work horse.
seraphx26 Oh. Sorry.
Hey Scorpion, will you be doing another Apocalypse video any time soon? I'm so addicted!
+A Tiny Tiny Man Yes...I have filmed a new one! Keep a look out:)
Awesome battle report as usual. Very creative campaign. I'm glad James and Ben won one for the Emperor!
+Robert Byrd thanks....glad you enjoyed it:)
44:54 That is nothing but lies, you foul xeno! The Emperor's glorious angels of death know no fear! AVE IMPERATOR!
Great report as always guys thanks! sent you a PM

+Tom Cross working on it:)
army's look so beautiful
+Dowfreak18 thanks:)
Your best one yet!!!
+hutchfu thanks:)
I really like the opening music. Very creepy and fitting for the Dark Eldar.
The stormsword is a trigger 😂
nice game, but an important note for the Deldar players, Cronos and talos engines don't have power from pain, so they couldn't have gotten zealot or IWND, some thing that people miss a lot.
+GregTehGoose WOW!!! Thanks for pointing this out. I am building a Dark Eldar army and will soon be adding these engines. I think I would have made the same mistake. That makes a big difference.
Love incubi, and drazhar, had them walk through 2 khorne berserker squads without losing a wound
Can you include a Warhound as a Lord Of War in any Imperial force?
Rest In Peace to those who died in this sector.
Imperials Only
good vid man
Love these huge games you do Luke, have you ever thought about doing the hours heresy battles
+Ben Bridges You never know. James loves 30K...so we may see a few 30K battles:)
amazing game i really enjoyed that. so much happened! awesome armies and scenario. The stern guard getting mascaraed was probably my moment of the game..
+Mark williams Glad you enjoyed it:)
we salute those who fell for the glory of the imperium
That Titan will never fall
If he didn't pat the ordinance masters points why was he dropping ordinance with him?
dem tables are just insane
What game matt is this?
Awesome bat rep guys love seeing epic games like this !🤗
+ElvaanRanger thanks:)
Aren't the sponsons for the superheavies 50 points each?
Awesome terrain and scenario and really cool models. Love seing your apocalypse bat reps :-)
Oh, and by the way a 5 man squad of fire dragons in a wave serpent can kill a warhound. Have done it twice ;-)
+Rasmus Nicolaj West thanks:) Ok...will remember that if we do an Eldar apoc game:)
Hey man love your vids super amazing! :)
One thing however... Incubi is pronounced: in-cube-eye
It's not in-cube-ee I promise! :D

+jan bos would like to:)
yeppy more apocalypse !!!

+dah0heavy ok great:)
unit of the game...for tieing units up, locking combat and single hand survival...the chaplain is obviously emperor blessed.
as always the terrain looks great and very atmospheric
now how about a rematch with the tables turned using some high mobility Imp Guard and allied units doing a commando style raid to take down a static eldar super heavy, blitz their airfield and make off with an Archon or two. 'Pasks' charge of the light brigade....
+Andy Tyrrell Yeah...a counter raid by IG Commandos would be awesome!:)
+Andy Tyrrell Charge of the light brigade is so 40k. :)

can you post the music you use in thr descritpiton???
+projecta3halkida It's posted in the credits. It may not be as convenient as being in the description, but at least he posts it.
sick table man
You could fire on the chaplain, can't be locked in combat with a vehicle unless its a chariot or walker, being in base contact with anything other than those just means you can hit it in the assault phase, but it can still be fired at.
+ghosthowl38 yes I realize that now! lol Will get him next time!:)
The ignores cover strength 10 ap1 are going to do some business, I suspect.
In the grim darkness there is only vein captured
Amazing table buy the way.
+JandTnz thanks:)
Kill the XENOS!! i love titans in game!! would you may be in the future have warlord titan in the table?? :D
+Santiago Mehle maybe:)
I'm disappointed with Ultramarines.
Much respect for brother Chaplain.
If not for the immobilised units, the Dark Eldar would surely win.
Emperor be praised!
+Robert K Wolf Yes those immobilized units really weakened DE shooting:)
i always get my hell hounds forword spraying the open top raiders burn every bastard in them, there just no good at the back. id love to see you use them move forword 12 into any cover and lite them up . awesome
Fun game to watch, but man is Lance infuriating. It irks me that there are so many work around answers for AV14 in this game
Why were you rolling for the penetration on the super heavy with the haywire guns? They are not ap2 or 1 so there was no point rolling, just a hull point loss. +Benjamin Brown471 [Ignore see latter comment]
***** I'm talking about the super heavy tank not the titan
+Benjamin Brown471 You forgot the Terminators and Sternguard Squad that also came in and did basically nothing :D
ThealinGaming yeah true, there was some pretty noob errors here but that always seems apparent when this guy plays, striking scorpion himself however is a pretty good tactitian
Benjamin Brown471 [Ignore]
Love the videos but that music sounds like the waybuloos lol maybe is just having small kids 😀
Good game guys
+Alex Jones thanks....glad you enjoyed it:)
I don't think it's fair if only one side has super heavy units
It doesn't really matter when the other side spams s-9 ap-2 lance shots, their eldar relations are showed in this video
I have this feeling that it will only be a matter of time before Hay Wire on Super Heavies is nerfed in the same way Sniper and Poison was for Gargantuan Monstrous Creatures. Against some armies Super Heavy Tanks are a waste of time.
pertty sure haywire only hurts super heavies on a roll of a 6
Not in this battle report and it looks like sadly not in the rule book either. I'm looking at pg.94 and pg.165 and I can find no "only on a 6" exception.
Invincible behemoth I believe is the rule that gives it.
40k is a great hobby love it but too much money sometimes for the models.
don't buy from games workshop or forgeworld then
where can i buy for cheaper ? :D
you sound like terry pratchett
Horrible deployment by the Dark Eldars. If they had deployed on the width of the board, where the titan is, they would have ran right through the imperial lines. The imperial guard and SM would have had to shoot across they battle lines, they wouldnt have seen a thing. Sad to see the DE not being used to their full potential.
play speed 1.5
Ok cool
