Thanks for sharing. I am NOT a Ford guy. My neighbor is. He had a 2017 F150 EcoBoost with the cold crank rattle, I told him to get rid of the truck; since Ford opted not to take ownership on the issue. Then my neighbor purchased the 2015 Escape EcoBoost. I told him it was another huge purchase mistake. I’ll share this video with him. Thank you!

My 2014 Escape's transmission completely failed at 108k miles... Got from a 3rd party shop for about 6k.

Personally don't care for the 6F35, such a pain in the rear to work on!! The MMT6 soo much simpler to maintain and is better suited for the Escape.

I have the 1.5 eco boost engine original and the water pump and timing chain was replaced a few years ago. It only has 39,000 miles and the transmission is making a whining noise when I ecelerate. It also had an issue switching from 2nd To third gear only once. All I have done so far is add a quart of transmission fluid. Do you have any ideas on what's going on? I am using my warranty but it expires August 20 2024

Hi. Enjoyed your video. Question? 2 yrs ago, Ipurchased a Ford hybrid Maverick with the 2.5 Atkinson and the Ectv. Any recommendations on best maintenance for that? Motor/ transmission combo? Thank you ahead of time😊

Thats a reliable setup you have. I'd service the transmission every 50-60k to be safe. Engine oil every 5k. If you do daily short trips, I'd change the engine oil at least twice a year to avoid condensation/moisture in the oil. Coolant every 100k or 5 years with the ford stuff (should be VC13G)

I'am Driving an Escape (2020) it's a Loaner Vehicle with 56K on it. Thus far (2 weeks) of driving this POS (it's a Hybrid) and what a Rattle TRAP, and what's up with all the Noise and Vibration? especially when it's Cold. It does have a decent amount of Power, I'am 6' and 275lbs and getting in and out of this thing is total misery! I would NEVER buy one!

So I just purchased a 2017 ford escape SE vin 1FMCU9G97HUB32618 I took it to a dealer just to see what the trade in would be and they told me that the transmission is weak. I’m not sure what that means so I started looking on line when I ran across your RUclips video. How can I tell what size my engine is and if it’s the new design? Or even if it’s worth fixing. I already put $1000 into it since I bought it.. new tires, oil change, spark plugs & coil replacement, etc…

I don't have access to Ford anymore to run your vin number. I would go to the dealer with your vin, ask them what engine you have - and if theres warranty history on a short block replacement (if it has the 1.5L). And, I dont know either what they mean by a "weak transmission" but the dealer can take a look at that for you.

Rose, I have a 2017 with 118K miles, the transmisson had not been touched till now. Years ago the lame dealer said not to change the fluid till 100k, the manual says 150k. Can't say I am much of a Ford fan anymore, they have stuck too many folks with 4-7$K repairs for transmissions and crappy cylinder head designs. End of Rant.
Find a mechanic that will do a simple drain and refill. I just did this myself but skipped the tedious level check, I put back in what I took out plus a little extra. Car seems a little smoother and the fluid removed was black but showed no debris in it.
For you DYI guys, I got 3.5 L out and put maybe 3.7 L back in (I had a shop sample it earlier who passed on changing it) Used the Valvolene Max stuff, $26 at walmart.
I hope this helps, these are really nice cars to drive, the support for them from the factory just sucks.

I have a 2.3 EB with a 6F35. I do coolant annually with VC13G, oil every 4k, and Amsoil ATF every 20k. How dose this maintenance program sound?

Do note: If the engine and transmission both fail in a close timeframe, expect to spend $20,000 total to have them replaced
