Honda gets it. Make an entry level bike (or bikes) and you’ll have a customer for life. It helps that Honda historically makes an engine that will run forever.
Besides the usual DIY maintenance, fork seals and the resultant soiled disk pads, my 2015 model has been running like clockwork for 20000km (12500 miles) here in South Africa. Besides being my daily rider, it gets used for motorcycle learner rider training, out-rides and more off-road orientated adventure bike rides. I can highly recommend it for anyone looking for an economical, dual-purpose (dual-sport) bike. At under $3K in the USA, it looks like the bargain of the century!

Do not forget us riders that got dirty before the XR series of Honda's. When they came out had several XR 200's. Do I want one more light XR as I age out of big heavy too fast bikes? Hell yeah ! You can go back in time, XR150 style!

I got the XR150L here in CA, an absolute blast to ride! Very nimble, perfect for country back roads and forest service roads, definitely not fast, but I also have a DRZ400 when I need a little more power & speed. I just watched your video from like 2016 on the RAM GoPro Camera mount for handlebars, just ordered it!

Went to a local dealer today, they had two in stock. Out the door price was $4600. He explained the $600 destination fee and $218 state taxes. I suppose the other $800 was documentation and plates.

my 2018 honda grom has 25000kms with nothing but regular maintenance, only things ive replaced are spark plugs, tires, chain and sprockets from wear, still on the original brake pads with 60% on them , i ordered my xr150l the moment i heard about it and get it next month, can't wait!
@Rick Robinson it depends on what u plan to do with it, if its mostly street id say grom, i did a little "offroading" with my grom and just felt bad putting it through that so i got the xr150l for that, i would get the xr150l if you plan on doing any offroading or trails, havent riden it yet so cant speak on how it handles the roads but the review videos i have seen seem like it rides good on the street
Love how Honda has various entry level bikes. I bought a tdub. During peak of pandemic. I narrowed it to the Yamaha tw and the Honda crf250. Hard choice but since there was so much shortage I got lucky and a tw arrived at the dealer 3 hrs away. I jumped on it. Never rid before, 1st timer and just recently I bought my wife a Honda Navi. There’s electric bikes cost more then our Navi. Anyway, my point is Honda’s variety of low budget choices took me away from Yamaha to the Navi and as soon as my wife learns how to ride shifting gears and clutch, we’ll be very interested in the new Honda XR150. In Europe the get hammered because ABS and EFI are requirements for rego. However the XR 150 had made it some how onto the showroom floors. The DRZ400 the biggest seller has been dropped and like the KLR650 is getting a make over. Kawasaki KLX230 Street is doing well so thin may change that.
Look at the gauges on the Honda and look up Bashan Brozz or the Tao Tao TBR7 they look exactly the same. I read this is produced for Honda by a Chinese company to keep the cost down. Don't know for sure.
it’s a shame there isn’t a big option for aftermarket parts for the xr150 (kind of like the crf110s have tboltusa) i really want to buy one of these bikes and strip it down yo make it look like a dirt bike and just mob around town without cops bothering me. i would want to put dirt bike tires on it. change the wheels and spikes to black. get a fender delete kit. change the headlight to a light bar. make all the turn signals low profile. and remove the mirrors but there doesn’t seem to be a market for that. what a shame
Im from australia and these bikes have been here for a while, they have been sold mainly for the farmers bike market and are not allowed to be road registered ,and have no idea why but I suspect its something to do with no abs system. I bought one a few months ago as I wanted a cheap reliable hunting bike for the farm.
@@Plough78 well,very good value for money ,very reliable easy to work on ,not the fastest bike but it will get you there.down side is that its made in china but with Japanese quality assurance so it cancels out.another down side is that it is carburatored so its might need a little warming up on a cold morning but once it is started it just goes .

The quoted gas mileage is not what honda claims . My xr150l gets about 180 or so miles before it cuts off and you have to switch to reserve fuel otherwise you aint going nowhere . .
Love the bike but don't love the cost of insurance. I got rid of my Yamaha 250 Enduro many years ago because the cost of insurance was more than I paid for the bike.
We've had these bikes on Asia for years. I had one for a while. It's not a pure off road machine. Think of it as a road bike with some off road ability. It can get over 200 miles on one tank of gas. The KLX150 is better off road. Too bad most other companies aren't getting into the small - cheap dual sport market.

I love that Honda is putting out cheap stuff. If I could complain I wish it did have fuel injection, modern fuels don't play nice with carbs and I wonder how much realistically it would have added to the cost. I also wish Honda introduced more automatic/semi-automatic entry level bikes in different styles. Every time Honda has tried it failed but they have also only tried with big and expensive motorcycles. Some may argue it isn't a big deal but it is a barrier of entry no matter how small. Part of that is also self interest. I don't really care to shift gears it is just another chore I gotta do when using a motorcycle as my vehicle.

I bought a tw200 recently and I was definitely disappointed it no longer has a kick starter. The Navi we bought late last year has a kick starter. Yea the Navi. The cr125 as well. Honda has been good with putting kickstart as back ups. Hopefully they did with this one as well.
I use it as my trail bike, climbed muddy terrains and even sandy trails. It's reliable and it gets the job done, but way too heavy for my size. Nevertheless, maintenance's cheap.
It may say 2971 but buy the time Honda is done with you it is 4500 or so. I am talking about the monthly payment. Besides this is sourced from the Chinese arm of Honda and will be built for America in Mexico. It is just a China bike with the Honda name on it
@@DaveZee01 it does, but thats 5k vs 3k. Also keep in mind that the klx has a higher frieght/destination and a higher purchase price means more paid in taxes as well. The xr150l also has a 180cc and a 230cc big bore kit available. The kits are like 150-200 bucks. I personally am not super interested in them but it is an option.
Surprisingly I heard that there are dealers selling these for MSRP $2971 plus the advertised 200/100 fees. Without too much effort on the phone and a couple of hours away, I was able to put a deposit on one for $2971 +400 fees. I will pay tax and tag in my state. Shop around and find a good dealer. They still exist but you may have to weed through a few.
Clone of a Chinese Hawk motorcycle but Hawk has bigger engine, disc brake, and fuel injection for a grand less. This "new" Honda is 20 years old and shows its age will carb, drum brake, and is really very tall and heavy for a small motorbike. Buy a Yamaha XT 250 MUCH better bike for the money. FI, Disc brake, lower seat height, about same weight. Or save some money and get a Hawk. This new to US old Honda really is not all that everyone is praising it to be. Anybody else comes out with a new motorcycle with a carburetor and drum brake they get crucified....
How can this bike be 20 years old, and a "clone" of a newer bike? The Hawk is a clone of this bike. The XR line has been around since the 80's. In addition, the XT is going to be around 6k out-the-door. I mean, I can bring up a whole bunch of better bikes that are more expensive. Not an apt comparison.

Yeah bud. Ive got a 73 cb500 and the jets weren't seated right, yet she fired right up after 13 years. Honda is bulletproof and its beautiful.

Just bought one. 3500 OTD. $1k down then payments and insurance are less than $100 per month. Can't beat that.

That's 1600 over sticker. That's more than 50% of the base price. That's outrageous!
Back in 1978 I bought a new Honda XL125, I loved that bike but sold it in 82 to buy a truck. I’m on bike #8 now but look at the XR150 and wonder 🤔.

The super cub is the most famous bike in Latin America especially in the Dominican Republic there's super cubs from the 60s and 70s still running

I just bought this bike new for $1815 OTD in the Philippines. Perfect bike for here with the congested bad roads. Most bikes are 125 to 150cc here..
Cheaper OTD then here in the USA...approx $4k US dollars here.

The tank must be bigger on this then because this gets a claimed 346 miles a fill-up. 124 mpg. I'd go this route over other bikes this price any day.

Honda should have put fuel injection into this machine.
282 pounds for a 150 seems way too heavy.
Not for a 4 stroke that's street legal IMO. The 125 big wheel dirt bike is 200lbs.
This will probably be my first bike
It would be an excellent bike to learn on IMO. And at that price point, it would be very feasible to keep as a "fun" bike if/when you upgrade.
