I've never yelled so hard at the tv as when Israel won his fight. It was the same as in the 3rd fight when Pereira trapped him and unloaded, except this time he turned the tables. My family thought I was nuts because I was yelling "get off the cage!" So loud both times. When Israel ko'ed Peirera it was a great moment as a fan because he overcame such serious adversity. Izzy is so grounded in himself. You can tell he has worked on himself diligently, not only for the octagon but for life. You know he has the ability to be dangerous, but he has it in control. He is calm and does not need to intimidate. Newfound respect for him to see how intelligent and wise he is and how kind he was to them.
I live in NZ and it’s a very placid place where people don’t really do much. There is definitely “tall poppy syndrome”. Izzy sticks out like a sore thumb here and some days at work I like to imagine being him driving around Auckland listening to Nipsey in the Mclaren 💯💯💯

I will forever remember April 8th. Spent all day testing for my black belt in karate and I got it after 7 hours of going through every technique I’d learned over 14 years. Then I got to go home sore, bruised, and smiling and watched Izzy regain the belt. I can say I felt the level of happiness Izzy talked about after that knockout
