Note that the Telesin 2 stick will rattle all the time unless it is fully extended making the audio unusable. I assume the Insta360 stick doesn't have this so this would be an argument to spend the extra buck though I suppose it will be too heavy for doing sports while holding it with a heavy camera like the One R in case.
Thank you for this in depth video. I broke 2 Insta360 sticks already. Switching to Telesin. I used it snowboarding each time and somehow the sections came apart the same way (so it must have been me, but I don't know how else I could have used it correctly.
I think I will get the Telesin, I wouldn't use the long stick enough to justify the cost. A thought on holding it in various positions, I wonder if a strip of silicon tape wrapped tightly around a join would work. This sticks to itself, is reusable and leaves no mess.
Hi Rich. I have the Telesin pole and have used it for roof inspections - being able to stand either on the ground, or on a fire escape stair and place the camera to provide an aerial view of the roof, or sweep the camera over weak areas where I can't get to. Very handy, but do find it very noisy and sometimes very difficult to extend /retract as I'm recording. It also bends beyond the stitching when fully extended. So, extra care has to be taken in making sure the stitch line is rotated vertically in order to eliminate this. I have recently perchance the new insta360 pole, but dispite its price - due to demand, I haven't received it yet. The friction stop anywhere feature is what made me part with the heep of cash. Both poles I feel are good for getting cool looking B-roll type shots, expecting these shots to be a lot smoother with the insta360 pole. Can't wait to find out, but for that price it better be good!
@@Kevintendo This camera pole is awesome! I would highly recommend it, not only for long swooping camera shots, but for inspection work too. I have the backpack 270 pro. It's hard to get because it sells out so quickly. I think the 270 Pro is the best out there but you pay a premium price for it.
The issue with the #270Pro (which is far more reliable than my Telesin 2.7m updated version, which broke on just the third use) is that its GoPro mount is fixed. You can’t remove it at all. To use it with my Inst360 One X2 requires me to be very aware of the orientation of the camera with respect to both the 1/4”-20 to GoPro adapter you have to use as well as any accidental bending at the GoPro mount itself from hard knocks. The ideal long Insta360 One X2 selfie stick would be if #270Pro issued the Backpack S with a 1/4”-20 stud rather than the GoPro mount. We can only hope!

Hi from Michigan, USA • will this selfie stick work with the GoPro Max with an adapter to mount the GoPro Max? • Cheers from the Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
Yes it will with a 1/4” adaptor- it will work better at longer lengths. At shorter lengths the stitching of the handle might not be that good with the max.
Hi. I bought the Telesin 3m stick, however it has a GoPro adaptor on the end that I’m not sure can be removed (don’t want to unscrew too hard in case I crack carbon). I notice both your links to the Telesin have this GoPro adaptor attached as well in their advertising material…but there is not one attached in your video…what was your experience, as I’d like to remove it to get the “invisible selfie stick” look…keen to hear, as ill return this if there is an alternative Telesin product without GoPro attachment (couldn’t see one on their official website) Thanks for any help/advice you can give
which one would be better for the gopro max or are they both a no go for the gopro? and how would they compare against the 270 pro backpack? (I don't find a way to order the 270 pro it in Europe tho)
I’ve had both. While the insta 360 friction is very easy opening and closing I find it more flimsy than telesin and can see a chunk of my pole in my shot near my hand. Probably a foot of pole. I did not see the pole in the shot at all w the telesin
You can rotate the pole which will help hide the bit you see in the stitch line. So make sure the stitch line is facing the bend and not the lens facing the bend.
@@EatSleep360 will let you know the results. Getting Some great shots using a 3 suction mount on the back of the car with the regular selfie stick. Also trying out the motor bike mounts on front and back this weekend.
Thanks Rich! Another great video! I am a bit concerned if either the telesin or 360 makes a rattling noise? Because if yes, this sound will be recorded by the 360 camera...
It would only make a noise if you bounced it around but yes any handling noise when extending it would probably pass through to the camera. The insta stick is quieter.
O have some copy of telesin, and you are absolutely right, easy open section on insta is better to use) if you make on telesin or my copy, you have to make shots of 3 meters before change it, because not easy and quick and of course this mom met sections on copy of telesin is screwing and can last section close and without help to open... It is so make mad of crazy moment))
There would be too much leverage on the thread and it would break. You need to add a brace to it, so another fixing point that holds onto the selfie stick and attaches to the ground - a ground spike with a couple of super clamps or mini arms with another selfie stick - or something like that. For mounting onto a fence you could get some curved metal pipe brackets and screw it across the lower section of the stick in two places.
@@EatSleep360 i.imgur.com/Baxd2en.png No ideas on how to mount a selfiestick vertically directly to the 3/8" thread on a tripod mounting plate? The center column is a specific Manfrotto 6-sized (hex) design. I could remove the mounting plate on the center column and clamp the extended selfie stick to it using 2 clamps like in the image but this isn't the nicest solution.
The Telesin v2 extended selfie stick has lots of bad reviews on Amazon. Many people are reporting that this pole is flimsy. The plastic insert at the tip of the pole is only secured by friction and eventually it loosens up. Then it starts to free spin. A free spinning 360 camera is no good as you want to align the stitching plane with the bend of the stick to make it invisible. You have to use gaffer's tape to get it to stay steady.
Thank you very much for this comparative test between these 2 Selfie sticks of 3m ... a little disappointed to see that even the Carbon version of Insta360 manages to flex with an Insta360 One X2 at the end of the pole ... Too bad considering the price. ..
The link to the "New 3m insta360 extended selfie stick" in your comments seems to be broken. It doesn't go to the product page. I'd like to see the product page to see the specifications. Specifically, I'd like to know how many centimeters it is when closed. If you can find the link to the product, it would be nice. Thank you.
Great review Rich! I bought the New telesin 3m stick, but I am not sure if it works in water. If it won't ruin the sticks could you compare their water abilities?
Hi Magnus I don’t think any of them should be fully immersed as it would damage the mechanism - you wouldn’t be able to get all the water out easily. The telesin would be easier to dry as you can take the base off by unscrewing it.
You could but you’d need to brace it where it joins, there would be a lot of pressure on the screw thread- might be too dangerous so You should do a lot of tests beforehand.
Finally received mine and what I didn't know before your review is there is no locking mechanisms on it. I hope it won't budge after some time and keep sliding down. Is there any specifics as to what weight that friction can withstand? I have two tripods (one of them carbon) from Sirui and they are simply amazing. This stick was co-engineered with sirui which raised its quality in my mind another notch! I need it for virtual tours and so human eye height is desirable. 1.72m is default by Metareal stage so need to find that sweet spot on this stick as well. Thanks for the review
Great review and comparison man! I have one of the original 3M selfie sticks and the amount of bend & flex at full extension is a problem. I think I'll be getting this new Telesin stick for sure! The Insta360 stick is out of stock everywhere and I'm not sure it's worth more than twice the cost of the Telesin version. Thanks for helping make an informed desicison! Cheers
Not worth the Insta 360, mine broke at full extension in only 2nd use. Could not believe that! I'm new to using this so its a lesson learned on them but still cheaper than a drone I guess!
@@crosscountryminiadventures I bought the Telesin stick shortly after seeing this video. I've used it a lot and have been quite satisfied with it. It still has a little flex and bend at full extension but not so much that it's a real problem. I mostly use it with an Insta360 OneX camera to shoot various action shots that will be reframed in post that I wouldn't be able to get with any other type of camera. But I've also used this selfie stick as a boom/jib/crane with my mobile phone camera mounted on a Zhiyun smartphone gimbal attached to the end of the stick.
@Eat Sleep 360 Hey Rich, do you think this stick is strong enough to withstand the force exerted on it at about 1.5 to 2 metres high, vertically, when braced on the X and Y axis on a motorcycle? I tried it unbraced, and it was a bit wobbly. So I tried it braced on the X axis (to limit sideways movement at the base) and it worked fine. I'm just worried the cam at the top, doing 80kpg for example, may be too much for the stick.
I don’t know for sure but I’m always very cautious with set-ups like this and probably wouldn’t take the risk in case it snapped and caused an accident. I know that’s not the answer you want - if you are going to do it then yes at those speeds I would support it on both axis’s. There’s no data with what the pole is capable of withstanding.
Whats the snapping point of the Insta360 3m pole? Could you for instance add another insta360 1.2m pole to the end and make a 4.2m pole with a one x2 and hold horizontal?
I haven’t tried it but I think the weakest point would be the 1/4” thread. If you want to risk it Maybe use some gaffer tape around where the two poles join.
Thanks Rich for the review I “asked you for”😉. Short, comprehensive and detailed as usual 👍. Only one simple question: is the selfie stick visible (at the hand position) also with the One R? Thank you and greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thanks for your review. Didn‘t notice that Telesin released a new version and was still waiting for Insta to have their stick back on stock. Ordered the Telesin right now!
It will but it will be too much pressure on the thread, I wouldn’t risk it. You can do a bullet time with this stick without the handle - just rotate it 320 degrees and it gives you enough of a rotation for a bullet time
Has anyone put this on their weighted bushman legs? I know the base is thicker so just wondering how it would fit. I, of course, wouldn't use it fully extended but if it was stable at eye level one wouldn't have to carry around 2 monopods.
Thanks for the review, the insta360 stick looks nice but as I already have the telesin I think there would be little to gain (and I'm not made of money 🤣). As you said I'm not sure it's worth twice the price.
I got used to the weird finger-killing mechanism with the Telesin ^^ so I guess I can wait for a discount. One question though: in which situations do you find the micro adjustments useful, you can do with the insta360 stick?
my insta360 selfie stick 120cm came apart after 4 months of non rigorous use. event useage and not sport usage. some white plastic tabbing in the internals came apart
@@EatSleep360 thanks for the reply. I have the 115cm stick and the top 2 sections will creep and slowly collapse if i put the 1 inch 360 (together with hummingbird quick release) on it while standing vertically :( Hope the 3m stick really works well as it is quite a big sum to spend on a stick..
Telesin it is then, if that breaks not a huge amount to buy another. I can manage to mess around on use if ut means it's likely to last longer, can soon get used to it.
Just arrived, doesn't seem to be any feel to it as to when it's opening ir shutting, playing with it my fingers have been nipped a few times! not a fan so far. 🤷
The Insta360 Extended Stick New Version looks promising, even at that super high price. However, you cannot buy it now anywhere. Not Amazon, not B&H, none of the regular store sites. It is out of stock at Insta360 website.

Like always amazing review... thanks a lot... You save me hundred and something € (euros). I was thinking to change my Telesin V2. by the new Insta; but thanks to your review I’ll keep my Telesin till there’s a new and better option... 👍🏻
I am not happy with the Insta 360 one, it failed and came apart in 2 pieces in only its 2nd use! The 120cm scope completely came out of the rest of the unit! I can hear rattling so whatever was locking it in place fell into the hole. Very disappointed with its quality, so avoid.

which one would be better for the gopro max or are they both a no go for the gopro? and how would they compare against the 270 pro backpack? (I don't find a way to order the 270 pro it in Europe tho)
This would work with GoPro Max - I haven’t used the 270 pro so not sure how they compare
hello, is it possible to use this stich with go pro max ?(invisible stick ) thx
Yes this will work with GoPro Max
Great review. Keep it up!!!
Great. Does the Insta 360 have a 1/4 inch in the base to use on a Tripod ??
Yes it does
Your awesome once again!
Thanks for watching
Thanks team 👋🇮🇹🇬🇧
Good info! Thanks Rich
Great comparison. Could you create a video after they fix the latest version of the Insta360 Android app that keeps crashing for a lot of people?
I’m on iPhone sorry
Do the Telesin bends on Insta360 One R when fully extend? Good review!
You can see the bend demoed in this video ruclips.net/video/JflgS1fWrqk/видео.html
@@EatSleep360 thank you! Just ordered mine 😁😁😁
The middle section completely pulled out. Does anyone know if I can fix it? The friction control was to strong possibly? Thanks
Thanks for this video 👍🏼
wow, defo worth gettin the insta one but the price 😱
Who has some good ideas on how to mount the 3m selfie sticks on a tripod or fence. The 1/4 20 thread would break right?
There would be too much leverage on the thread and it would break. You need to add a brace to it, so another fixing point that holds onto the selfie stick and attaches to the ground - a ground spike with a couple of super clamps or mini arms with another selfie stick - or something like that. For mounting onto a fence you could get some curved metal pipe brackets and screw it across the lower section of the stick in two places.
@@EatSleep360 i.imgur.com/Baxd2en.png
No ideas on how to mount a selfiestick vertically directly to the 3/8" thread on a tripod mounting plate?
The center column is a specific Manfrotto 6-sized (hex) design. I could remove the mounting plate on the center column and clamp the extended selfie stick to it using 2 clamps like in the image but this isn't the nicest solution.
I think the best solution is a of flagpole mount!!
Are you saying that based on the reviews or from owning it?
Good informative video Rich, thanks for sharing and a very Merry Xmas 😄
Thanks very much and a Merry Christmas to you too 😃
Can't find the new insta 360 3meter anywhere. Help!
Maybe aliexpress?
Have they discontinued the Insta one. Can't find it anywhere.
I don’t think so, just low stick levels - try aliexpress
@@EatSleep360 I bought the Telesin instead. Nice bit of kit.
Thank you very much for this comparative test between these 2 Selfie sticks of 3m ... a little disappointed to see that even the Carbon version of Insta360 manages to flex with an Insta360 One X2 at the end of the pole ... Too bad considering the price. ..
Yes I fully extended and could notice a big chunk of the stick near my hand showing up in the shot w the insta version
@@EatSleep360 All right then. Thank you again for the help 😆
Doe it have a remote for iPhone to control the phone?
No it doesn’t have a remote
Can I attach two together? 3m (10ft) is not enough. Need double that
You could but you’d need to brace it where it joins, there would be a lot of pressure on the screw thread- might be too dangerous so You should do a lot of tests beforehand.
Good video, thanks 👍
Finally received mine and what I didn't know before your review is there is no locking mechanisms on it. I hope it won't budge after some time and keep sliding down. Is there any specifics as to what weight that friction can withstand? I have two tripods (one of them carbon) from Sirui and they are simply amazing. This stick was co-engineered with sirui which raised its quality in my mind another notch! I need it for virtual tours and so human eye height is desirable. 1.72m is default by Metareal stage so need to find that sweet spot on this stick as well. Thanks for the review
Thanks for the comment - time will tell on the friction, let’s hope it holds
Can you have this length Telesin stick not extended at all and would you see it on the video like you can with the insta 360 one?
Because it’s thinner there is less chance of seeing it in your video
Thanks for the info 👍
Great review and comparison man! I have one of the original 3M selfie sticks and the amount of bend & flex at full extension is a problem. I think I'll be getting this new Telesin stick for sure! The Insta360 stick is out of stock everywhere and I'm not sure it's worth more than twice the cost of the Telesin version. Thanks for helping make an informed desicison! Cheers
No worries, glad it helped - thanks for the comment
So on the shortest setting u can see the stick still ?
Yes but you can get around it by holding it slightly higher up the stick
At certain angles you may have to rotate the stick to hide the bend in the stitch line but generally it’s so wide it doesn’t notice
@@EatSleep360 thank you Rich for your useful answer. Ciao 👍🙋🏻♂️
Does the Insta360 long stick float?
Not as far as I know
Thanks for your review. Didn‘t notice that Telesin released a new version and was still waiting for Insta to have their stick back on stock. Ordered the Telesin right now!
Telesin is great value for money
will this extended stick fit the bullet handle?
It will but it will be too much pressure on the thread, I wouldn’t risk it. You can do a bullet time with this stick without the handle - just rotate it 320 degrees and it gives you enough of a rotation for a bullet time
very nice review sir
Has anyone put this on their weighted bushman legs? I know the base is thicker so just wondering how it would fit. I, of course, wouldn't use it fully extended but if it was stable at eye level one wouldn't have to carry around 2 monopods.
Yes this works at eye level on the bushman tripod
@@EatSleep360 thanks, I figured it would but still like to ask. Now I just have to wait until they get some in.
Cheers
thank you for your great review , i have one questions.. is there any difference between telesin 2.7 and telesin 3 m ? or only length ?
The version one 2.7 is totally different so make sure you get version 2 which is the better design
@@EatSleep360 thank you for your prompt reply, is it means that version 2 have 3 m only or version 2 have both lengths?
Do you know if this stick floats or is waterproof?
No it’s not waterproof and not designed to float - water will ruin the mechanism
Mainly when on a tripod so I can adjust to the exact height I want easily - thanks for watching
my insta360 selfie stick 120cm came apart after 4 months of non rigorous use. event useage and not sport usage. some white plastic tabbing in the internals came apart
That’s annoying- thanks for commenting
Can the insta360 3m stick support the weight of 1 inch 360 edition? Will it collapse on its own while standing vertically?
It can take the weight but it isn't recommended for big movements because of the bend. I have put it out my sunroof vertically and it was fine.
There is a newer Telesin version as well now which is an even better design
@EatSleep360 I see on Amazon is that the 2.7 metre verson?
Just arrived, doesn't seem to be any feel to it as to when it's opening ir shutting, playing with it my fingers have been nipped a few times! not a fan so far. 🤷
The Insta360 Extended Stick New Version looks promising, even at that super high price. However, you cannot buy it now anywhere. Not Amazon, not B&H, none of the regular store sites. It is out of stock at Insta360 website.
Try aliexpress maybe
@@EatSleep360 Good thought but Aug 30 delivery unless you chuck out another $30. I would think insta360 would have them in by that time.
Hi great review 👍
I am not sure which one to purchase, with the insta 360 stick i have seen lots say you can see the handle in shot, at what lenth if at all does it become invisible.
Also which tripo would you recommend to use for human hight for self videos.
Link if possible cheers 🍻
If you have a keen eye you can see the handle sometimes in your hand - the bend can be eliminated by rotating the stick so that it’s hidden in the stitchline. The best360 tripod is super wide and robust and it’s best used with the counter weights best360.shop?aff=3
Like always amazing review... thanks a lot...
You save me hundred and something € (euros).
I was thinking to change my Telesin V2. by the new Insta; but thanks to your review I’ll keep my Telesin till there’s a new and better option...
👍🏻
Glad it was helpful - yeah if you have the telesin v2 there’s no need to change - thanks for watching

Friggin long stick makes the annoying click sound when you turn it up and down...how to resolve this issue ?
This is that slight movement I mention in the video - no way to solve it unfortunately without taping the joins but that would be a pain
@@EatSleep360 crap stick...thank you for replying
I am not happy with the Insta 360 one, it failed and came apart in 2 pieces in only its 2nd use! The 120cm scope completely came out of the rest of the unit! I can hear rattling so whatever was locking it in place fell into the hole. Very disappointed with its quality, so avoid.
That’s good feedback thanks but that’s really bad for you, I hope insta replaced it. This always worries me about the longer sticks but I’ve been lucky so far.
@@EatSleep360 Thank you! Trying to go through the refund process since I owned it less than a year! Hopefully they will honor it!
That bounce in the stick does affect your video. Its too much for the gyroscope and stabilization to overcome.
It depends on the shot and how fast you move it as well
Telesin has bad reviews on the markets, Amazon reviews complaining about that after severlal weeks is bottom thread broken.
