Thanks a BIG bunch! I started a QAYG quilt about 10 years ago. But...life has a way of detouring efforts from time to time & it ended up as a WIP! 😂 I'm retired now and have just found the project...sadly I forgot how it went together. I was THRILLED to find your video this morning! My, soon to be born, new great grandson will be the recipient of this project... THANKS TO YOU!
Very helpful videos with clear explanations. Never leaves me with unanswered questions. Best quilting tip videos on RUclips, in my opinion, and I have looked at soooo many. Nothing irritating about the presentation either, which is not the case with most others. Thank you for these. Much appreciated.
I love watching your work, you do some a lovely job. I have watched others that joke around too much and it takes so long for them to do any thing I for get half of what they were doing. Your really inspire me! Thank you so much.
this is ingenious. not bad at all . I am brand new to quilting but not new to sewing , I used to sew garments and household ( ie tablecloths ,curtains ,table runners ect ) things. this is just brilliant . thank you 5 years later lol =)
It is very pleasant to watch you wrangle the fiddly bits so expertly and calmly, all the while providing the most helpful commentary. Well done! Can't wait to try this, and will look for the binding tutorial. Thank you!
I know you made this video a long time ago but I really enjoyed it. Also I learnt a lot watching you do it step by step. It’s now on my todo list so thank you.
Hi Susan thank you for your plain uncomplicated demos it's all so nice and easy to understand I'm making the reversable quilt from your video and it great to be able to replay to check what I'm doing not up to your standard but I'm getting there I'm now looking for the smashing video
This is a great technique and tutorial. Thank you!!! I finished my first block and it looks really good. I did have a slight problem with my first blocks being just a little off level from each other - see through batting would have saved me - by the time I got to the second row I had a problem but I was able to work through it and my block looks terrific!!! I will be looking for other tutorials from you!!!
You are amazing, I just love watching your tutorials they get me so motivated you make it look so easy and calm if you take your time you. You explain things very well. Thank you so much
Thx man.well demonstrated. I made a lovely quilt as you go from one of your videos..i made it for a baby. Turned out perfect..thx sooo much. Real good teacher.
I really enjoy all of your video's very much and have learn so much from you. Thank You so very much for taking the time to do them. You have an amazing sweet personality and explain everything so nicely. I have seen them all several times and look forward to any new one you may do. Thank you again from a beginner in South Dakota, USA
Wow, I just thought, if you piece the 61/2" strips... ...you could do a completely scrappy quilt on one side (and hold the opposite side strips away while quilting in the ditch between the squares,) and a more plain version on the other. You could also alternate with picture panels or plain blocks or both. Such mind-blowing possibilities. Once when a relative was in hospital, someone in there had been given a quilt with hidden pockets on it, used for get-well cards. I was thinking you could have a hidden chocolate stash in the outside of your quilt so it wasn't too warm, for movie watching purposes, snuggle in, and then bring them out, to blow the minds of the little ones watching with you. All the best.
I've never done a quilt as you go quilt before so was looking for help with videos & yours are the best! You make it easy to follow with simple directions, so thank you!
As I'm new to quilting this technique makes it easier. I might combine it with a half triangle square in the centre and strips around it. Love your videos, thank you.
Thank you for the quilt as you go video I have almost finished my first quilt and it was fun to make - also I used my odd bits of fabric - didn't buy anything and it looks great!
Great idea! I think it would look nice with a pieced square in the middle. As long as it is the same size. What do you think? I am so happy I found you. You are a super teacher. Thank you.
I was hoping you could give me some advice on completing my quilt. I made the top half of my patchwotk quilt cover (10ft x 11ft) not realizing that I would need floor space to lay the finished item down to make a sandwich of the wadding and backing. As most people have done before me, I put it away to work on it later when I had solved the problem. That was 4 years ago just before I became a full time carer to my son. Now today 25 July 2017 watching Quilting Tips & Techniques 111 I realized that if I could use this method of quilt-and-go using the backing and wadding only -then once this is sewn to size the patchwork top could be smoothed over and tacked before sewing. Hoping you are still able to repy as video was made 4years ago
So funny you said that, about not doing top and bottom sections at one go. I was already thinking that would be a short cut. I'll take your advice, however, and go a bit at a time.
I just added a bit but it didn't stay. A relly in hospital saw another patient with a quilt, multi-pockets sewn on to put get-well cards into. You could use pockets outside a quilt for a choccie stash, and half-way through a movie, bring them out of hiding, to blow the minds of the little ones with you.
Your QAYG blocks are so Neet! Thank you for these lessons. Now, I need to know how to put them together. You said you did it earlier, but I can't find it. Would you Please lead me to that video? What is the name of it? Ty
Interesting technique, can't wait to try it. Now tell me about the wall hanging of the giraffe and the monkey in the background. That is lovely. Is it a painting or fabric applique?
For someone making their first quilt, would you recommend something like this, or would it be better to do the traditional kind where you piece the blocks, make the quilt top, make the quilt sandwich, and then quilt?
I was wondering, if we were to use iron on batting (like fusible cotton batting), would that help to keep everything inline as we are doing this reverse block?
Thanks a BIG bunch! I started a QAYG quilt about 10 years ago. But...life has a way of detouring efforts from time to time & it ended up as a WIP! 😂

Hi, my machine has a built in dual feed, like a walking foot, which I am using. Yes, it would be a good idea to use a walking foot for this.
Fabulous! I can't wait to get started on this idea.
Thank you for posting this - it is inspirational! Definitely on my 'to do' list. PS love the colours too.
Great idea! I think it would look nice with a pieced square in the middle. As long as it is the same size. What do you think? I am so happy I found you. You are a super teacher. Thank you.
