- After waiting patiently for many months now, we can now present you Free Roam in Olympic City and both drift courses without the need of any trainers. This is the most stable version to date and there will be no compatibility issues across versions of the games.

When I was a child, I always wondered what is behind all this walls and things that teleports you back. I used to see some connections between tracks even then.
Couple days ago I have installed Underground again just for nostalgia feelings, but found that I see even more familiar places and connections between tracks, and this sense of curiosity came back.
And now you make one of my child dreams come true. Thank you for your work even after so many years passed after game birth and death.
It's actually exciting how world has changed. In those old days I used to live without Internet, and never thought that something like custom made mods even exists. Nowadays we take such things for granted, even in the past we never thought it's a real thing.

Exactly what I wanted to write. I thought about going through game files and converting them into one big map but always scrapped the idea for being too much work.
When I played through this game, for many years I thought the drag tracks were connected to the main tracks in some way.

Hey, a year late, sorry.
For rivals, I am not too sure if free roam can be done. It's much more linear than Underground, you don't really see the same connections between tracks.

Yes, there are things that are still planned for this mod. However, many of us working on this have had next no time to make anymore progress on this. We are still working to make this mod better though!

+MLG Dew Multiplayer online is not the same as Lan.

Heat was boring, I liked it but it just felt ...empty.
Also all of them have those horrible driving physics. EA will never make a good nfs, the only way is selling the franchise.

Did you know that all the buildings in Underground are actually real buildings from Vancouver? Most of them are from the area around Burrard street and Vancouver Art gallery.
That song made me feel like I was 8 years old again 😅, its crazy that it's been just over 15 years since I played this 😳
All the textures in Nfsu are pictures of real buildings in Vancouver. The red building at the start of Olympic square is located at 777 W Cordova Street.

This was an emotional watch. Sure it would have stolen some of he thunder from NFSU2, but they seem to have been very close to making even this one open world.
Imagine this fully functional with other races and challenge spread across the map like NFSU2

Playing again after 20 years… it’s still magical even without mods.
Maybe one day u will make the underground 3 the people deserve with this as fundamental with tuning shops (like TJ for performance upgrades and Samantha for Visual Upgrades), races and maybe a little storyline :) i would totally pay 60$ for this
Underground 3 seems to have a totally different story than the beta games.

@@DevDreCW LPN05 is an insider on NFS stuff. He can play games earlier and what not. They told him that internally it was called underground 3.

Perfect game, perfect car, perfect song, perfect moment! 😍
IMO, NFSU2 is like a continuation of NFSU1 since they both run on the same engine, and Palmont is like a remaster of Olympic City being how similar the architectures look. The soundtracks and the whole scenery are just unbeatable in NFSU1, can only imagine how wonderful it would be if it had a completed map like NFSU2
Which both games are somehow similar to Hot Pursuit 2 (the PS2 version), Underground 1 and 2 use a lot of physics from Hot Pursuit 2 but they're a bit tweakened, same goes for traffic cars as well. Except there are no cops in UG1 and UG2.
Actually Hot Pursuit 2 to Undercover and World uses the same engine (EAGL) only updated from time to time, of course.
It would be dope to Pick the older EAGL games and put them into EAGL 4 or 3.
I can imagine using Carbon as a base to Underground 1 and 2 "remasters", and Most Wanted to Hot Pursuit 2.

I would always play Tag with the cars in multiplayer, by going in reverse. It was the most fun I had in this game. you could hide in traffic, and use the many secondary paths to loop around. This mod would be perfect to play Tag in! Is there somewhere I can download it? And will it work with (splitscreen)multiplayer and traffic?
I downloaded and installed this but when I select transmission, it crashes my game, do you have any solutions for this?
I've always wanted to see those hidden parts of the map like the roads that weren't blocked off but you couldn't go to, and the drag race tracks.
It would be fantastic to interlock all the roads as the original map, with no unfinished streets, including the drag tracks. I can't even imagine how a NFSU with open world would be

That was one of my dreams, the other one is the open world in Flatout 2
What tools did you use to accomplish this? Surely there must have been a process of exporting and editing the map files to get rid of all the barriers and duplicate objects. I think it would be cool to get something like this into a blender scene.
We used a hex editor to learn how the collision worked and then created our own programs to automate the process of merging the data together. The barriers had to be removed manually.

If nglzrn make a extra options for this game and add the freeroam into it without triggering one of the races instead of standalone mod that would be crazy
they should make a mod where they port this map into nfsu2 and keep the same storyline but also keep nfsu2s customization and features

Growing up is realising Olympic City actually makes no sense at all lol. The roads aren't layed out like a city and there seemed to be about 4 different "downtown" areas with skyscrapers everywhere. Looking at the map, it's almost like they drew a load of racing circuits, fitted them together and then just put a city skin over the top of it to act as a backdrop.
My i ask... how can i open the GO UNDERGROUND in NFSU1???

Is there a possibility that the game allows you to add additional Roads that the dead ends can be connected to Other roads ?

When i downloaded extra options it started showing the wrong way text, anyways, great mod!
I dont know why, but doesnt work for me on ver 1.4. Patchet .exe, extracting files, run game, going into Free run and nothing. All tracks in free run have barriers. Whats wrong?

@@Nicho234 should be fine. You technically do not need the exe. The exe just stops the "wrong way" indicator from displaying.
