  • After 2 years in production I finally received by Highwood Bell Metal snare yesterday
    5mm B20 Bronze Shell
    B20 Bronze Die Cast Hoops
    Phosphor Bronze Lugs
It came with an Aquarian Texture Coated head with a reverse dot. I demo'd this and then switched it out for my usual Remo Controlled Sound. I was able to get the Remo tuned much lower, as you'll hear.
I'm so thrilled with this drum - it does the Bell Brass thing EXTREMELY well.

Wonderful snare drum from the awesome Highwood. Nice vid with the testing and good sound. Next thing is to sort out the camera mount. 😎

Nice. Interesting that you only change the tuning of the batter head. What do you do with the reso?

Gareth had tuned it to a nice medium pitch. I find that sort of tension is good for beefy sounds! If I was going for sludge or ultra poppy I’d change it but usually top head tension is enough change for what I’m after!

Also, add to that it weighs 16kgs, I didn’t want to flip it on camera 😂
