11:00 Yes. Yes, there was. You watched it three times and you forgot the scene with the Doctor telling Ryan, Yaz and the girl not to follow her into the warehouse. Seriously? Billy hasn’t seen it in three months and he remembered it.
Loved that the Dalek actually killed and told the girl to continue working nonstop after she was clearly tired If this was Moffat , he’d have the Dalek miss everytime and actually allow that girl to rest
Can I just say I actually quite liked it when they didn't outright say the Daleks were in the episode. It made them more scary in the first trailer, a force to be reckoned with that we could even see or know the name of, but we knew what it was. It certainly built up more hype than showing idk Dalek Sec at the end of the trailer
I made a clip compilation of Nine saying 'theyre insane, driven mad by your own flesh...you hate your own existence, and that makes them more deadly than ever' then Ten saying 'right now they're vulnerable, and that makes them more deadly than ever' and Ten again says 'last time we fought the Daleks they were scavengers and hybrids and mad, this is a fully fledged Dalek empire, at the height of its power' and then thirteen saying 'a recon scout, specially upgraded from the basic Dalek, genetically modifed'. Ridiculous that they keep trying to up the stakes. Daleks are always scary they don't need to top each other every time.
I actually really enjoyed this story; althought the it was all over the place the Dalek was very scary and unstoppable which is what the race needed at the moment. I just hope Chibnall does the same for the Cybermen.
To be honest, this is the first series where I felt I can't be bothered with it anymore, I'll possibly re-watch Resolution but still, I didn't like it very much. However, I'll watch the first couple episodes of next years run, including the special, and then I'll see.
In my opinion the companions aren't asking enough questions. That's how you get more out of the doctor. They haven't even asked where shes from. They sound have asked her why she was so angry or serious about the dalek. Then they would have got the history.
I feel like this episode would have been so much better, if Chibnall had a co-writer. That way someone could re-write the ending and make the transition scenes with Ryan and his dad and the rest of the episode. So far, in my opinion, Chibnall's best episode has been Rosa and that was also his only script that had a co-writer. It was the only episode where his ending wasn't rushed and all the characters had shit to do. It wasn't perfect (that music at the end thou), but I think a lot of the episodes would be better if Chibnall took more of a backseat in the actual writing process.
@batmanmarch You two talk about how there should be a shakeup come next series. I don't think it should necessarily be in the cast (though if so it should be Yaz, as she barely did anything in most episodes in Series 11). But I do think there should be a shakeup in the writing dept.: 1) Chibnall needs to cut back his writing to just bookend stories and be mainly the showrunner. The more time spent on those few stories, the better they should be; 2) Consider welcoming back some past writers (like Jaime Mathieson, for instance) who know how to craft a proper story and can effectively write for science fiction. Can't take a painter away from an easel, then put them in front of a piano and ask them to write an etude in the style of Lizst without any knowledge of how to play a piano; -- and most important -- 3) Unless Chibnall primarily did this and only hired a figurehead, fire season 11's script editor; As you two have noted, there were a lot of times in the episodes where the "drama" portions of the story ground the flow of the stories to a halt, to the detriment of the action in those stories. That's a sign that the scripts may have been simply rubber-stamped, and not had a critical eye on them to say "wait, we need to get to the impending showdown between TimShaw and Graham a little faster, not to mention all this other stuff going on with the "Airbender" race of aliens and the saving of Robert Baratheon's crew. Do we need to have multiple conversations about Graham being hell bent on killing this thing and the other party trying to talk him down from it?". I think the hiring of someone who will do that, and therefore make sure the stories are tightened up for the scripts, will improve the show immensely. If, however, Chibnall was actually editing the scripts without portfolio, then we should hope that whatever exec at the BBC Chibnall answers to can put some heat on him to make some adjustments so he doesn't lose any more viewers than he did in Series 11. I personally didn't have a lot of complaints about Series 11 in terms of casting and production value. But these were somehow undermined by the quality of writing in the scripts. Take care of that, and it should be a little better in Series 12.
This series did nothing for me, I like graham and ryan but thats it. Jodie has the foundation to be good but her doctor is nothing unique and interesting. This story was the only one I thought was good, but im still annoyed the dalek lost cause it should have won.
@PikaCinema but for the point of story telling they should have won and got away. Thats why new who can be boring cause they dont put effort in the story telling. And in victory of the daleks they won, so you got that wrong😂
It plain sucked. But sadly it was better than almost everything out of S11. I love the idea of Dalek Heirarchy being introduced and with the Recon Dalek. It looked good as a mutant, but the Dalek design itself was just too far out there trying to purposefully look like crap that it’s bad LOL.
great video, I hated this episode so much!!!!! Aaron and his stupid oven that he is Carrying around for no reason that also defeats most powerful race in the galaxy!!!!!!!!!! well done Chris chibnel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....!!!!!😁
I hate the CGI Dalek design. I don't know why everything has to be CGIed now (looking at you Predator). Looks so fake, hollow and not scary at all. I wish they'd ditch the writers, actors etc and give us a Paul McGann 8th Doctor series to shake things up.
In my opinion, for me, this story is the Hell Bent of Series 11. I hated it to the point of it offending me. As I watched, in my head my rating went down...down...down. I hate the Dalek design, the plot barely hangs together and the characters were all so annoying. I know that for many, this story was great, and that's fine, but personally I loathed it. I haven't seen it since new year because it just pissed me off. Yaz police officer moments where stupid, the body horror was a rediculous Venom rip off. There was no reason for the BBC keeping the Dalek a secret as everyone guessed it before hand. Ryan and his dad was a pale immatation of Clyde in Mark of the Berserker. And Whitaker is written as completely incompetent. Series 11 is the worst season in the ENTIRE franchise!
I rather liked Resolution, though it was a bit naff in places. I am a sucker for that new gun SFX that incorporates the Remembrance SFX. That's some good stuff right there. Also, I hope we get the Scrap Dalek as an action figure. That'd be nice, and actually give our 13 figures something to fight.
@PikaCinema I don't think they'd be stupid not too, but I would like one. But ultimately, what I want doesn't matter if the retailers don't want the stuff, which is what killed the 5.5 figure range, rather than Character themselves, and why we get so few figures nowadays.
@PikaCinema But it wouldn't really be easy, and would require whole new moulds, which might be a put off from making it. But it'd make sense to do, as Daleks are iconic, and 13 needs more figures.
@PikaCinema No, they couldn't, cause that cost just as much, and the Resolution Dalek looks completely different to the RTD Dalek in terms of shape. It'd have to be an entirely new figure, other than maybe the gun.

"What are they... WHY??" pretty much sums up Doctor Who today. Can someone remind Chris Chibnall that the show is meant to be fun?
I was scared that we wouldn’t be seeing a Dalek in casing
YES FINALLY
Loved that the Dalek actually killed and told the girl to continue working nonstop after she was clearly tired
If this was Moffat , he’d have the Dalek miss everytime and actually allow that girl to rest
That ominous music is like a Black Sabbath track.

The WiFi scene with that family reminded me of the end scene for Vengeance in Varos.
Whilst watching resolution on New years Day I found my mind wandering ...which is never a good thing...great review..
Filthy sod.
The wifi scene - funny joke but cringe execution.
I actually really enjoyed this story; althought the it was all over the place the Dalek was very scary and unstoppable which is what the race needed at the moment. I just hope Chibnall does the same for the Cybermen.
Great episode all together Sheffield is my home town also makes it better also
It's just that political issues in the show aren't tackled like they're complex issues. They take a hardline and say something is wrong or right.
@stephen noonan to be honest I did like most of Rosa except the villan. I liked it takes you away too.
It's just bland commentary now
@@cameronmonaghan6883 I think it's partly because the episodes are only 50 minutes.
@@Doccywho124 I don't think so. It's more just lazy writing with no subtlety
@@cameronmonaghan6883 I agree but with more time they'd be able to do more so the message comes across as forced and one sided
Johnny’s hilarious
My favourite series 11 episode

Horse manure 😂😂😂
Matt's become Ashens, HELLO!
Despite its flaws I did really enjoy resolution. i did think it was one of the best dalek stories of the revived series

Quite liked resolution, but the thing that really annoyed me was that good awful text they used at the start. It was so out of place.

This episode has ended my fandom. This was the final straw for me.

As superficial fluff for new year I enjoyed it... In retrospect it's left virtually no impression and... meh.
In my opinion, for me, this story is the Hell Bent of Series 11. I hated it to the point of it offending me. As I watched, in my head my rating went down...down...down. Nothing good has happened in the world of Doctor Who since 1989.
So the good thing was that it was cancelled?
Actually plenty of good has happened in Doctor Who since 1989.
Series 11 too.
