@@dudebro755 I remember seeing this documentary with subtitles some years ago. And I recall that she was pissed off because someone had seen him on the pub and that he didnt come home straight away. she also asked the camera man to get out.
The XO's homecoming broke my heart. He will become a single Captain just like his Captain. I am American but I worked in the Former Soviet Union from 91-95 and I have nothing but respect for Russian citizens, especially now living under the thumb of the dictator Putin. A Russian officer singlehandedly prevented the launch of ICBM's during a false American launch indication in the 80's. I trust them not to fire again...
My takeaway from the symbolic act of drinking the glass of seawater was for it to be the first and, ideally, last time they ever tasted seawater aboard a submarine.

This is a rather remarkable documentary. Thank you so, so much for sharing it. 2:04 really gives the _Акула_ a sense of scale. Jesus, this thing was a monster.
Loved this documentary ,brilliant just brilliant and a great view!!.Would love to go and visit Russia one day also Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, maybe got toput the overtime in.
They are the same today at the "Secret" cities and bases. These guys hadn't been paid for 6 months when this was filmed. That is part of the complaint the XO's wife had.
TK-20 "Severstal". If someone know Russian, I recommend a series of books "Акулы из стали" ("Sharks made of Steel") by former TK-20 officer, electronic engineer, captain 3rd rank (equivalent to Lt.Cmdr) Eduard Ovechkin (Эдуард Овечкин), who served under command of Alexander Bogachev (may he rest in peace! Cpt.Bogachev died of cancer in 2015). I don't know, if these books were translated to English.
There is an inherent problem with certain tubes. Whether it be the fuselage of a bomber airplane ,an ICB silo or a boomer submarine. They all hold slightly smaller tubes with the power of the sun at the tip that kills everything we love and have ever known. Maybe its time we get out of the tube business while we still can.
The world has literally only begun to build missiles. The invasion of Ukraine and China's Naval building the last twenty years have proven the missile is the future. You might as well be a man saying he hopes the cartridge will go away to return to honourable warfare ... just before ww1 hits

Yes, it surely was, 20+ years ago (when this video was filmed). Now, it's getting better. Much better. But now there is no "Typhoons" ("Акула", "Shark" by our classification) anymore.
the pride of the soviet navy and the world. it is a double side by side pair of submarines. that angel of death and heaven can start the apocalypse. it s not only the scariest, more lethal and largest submarine ever but also the most beautiful one. and it s not typhoon. it s akula(the shark) even though it looks like a whale
Typhoon is its NATO designation, project Akula was the development of them. Project 971 Shchuka-B has the NATO designation Akula. That’s where the confusion comes from.
Jesus Christ first the sub looks like Jesus himself has served on it 2000 years ago.. and then these officers live in what looks like a doghouse that’s ready to collapse?! Wtf is this?!
Lmao , you should see what the Ohio class submarines quarters look like, there's barely any headroom in all the rooms, the typhoon class has a much better standard of living than the uss ohio, but the typhoon trades luxury for effectiveness. There's a reason nato submarines are so cramped to save every inch of space possible.
wait, it got busted by a... "strange-looking fishing vessel"? not a high-tech sub, but some tricked-out skiff? lmfaooo holy crap russia is finished, good thing they have great equipment on paper in video games or there would be zero redeeming quality for Akula-Typhoon's legacy. i really like this sub too. damn
This is unintentional ASMR. I listen to this in bed and fall asleep. I don't know why it's relaxing. Lol
Finally, I’m not the one. When I’m trying to fall asleep, trying to imagine serving on Typhoon sub. Have no idea why, but falling asleep immediately.
