    2008 rushing yards, 23 total TDs, just 1 fumble, league MVP, 100 first downs, and a Super Bowl win in ONE SEASON. The season before that? 15 total TDs, 1750 yards, 99 first downs, SB MVP, and a Super Bowl win. Oh, and in those 2 years, he rushed for 100 or more yards in ever single playoff game.
    That is the best 2 year stretch in NFL history, and that is why he's in the hall of fame.

      Phyukk Urself He also had 2,655 yards and 23 total TDs in his first 2 years in the NFL and if you add up the 4 then he had 6,413 yards and 61 total TDs within his first 4 seasons. His run was legendary and Denver doesn't win either of those Super Bowls without him. He definitely deserves to be in the HOF

    Maybe the best playoff and Superbowl RB ever. When the games mattered the most, he dominated. Some players get in for their lifetime of work. TD's career was short, but it was sensational. His 2008 yards season I don't know how many times he was basically pulled from games at halftime because the game was already over. He probably could have had 2500 yards in all honesty if he played all 4 quarters of those games.

    • @NickWuebker

      I agree. Had he not been pulled in some of those games he probably would've broken Eric Dickerson's single season rushing yards record.

      TWO Broncos RBs enshrined in Canton. Only a few other teams can claim that.

    • @GrassValleyGreg
      @GrassValleyGreg 7 лет назад

      bass reemer,
      Well, just for instance, among the RBs on your list (plus Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders), only Jim Brown, OJ and Barry Sanders had a better average per carry than TD, and only Barry, OJ and Dickerson got a 2000 yd season. Riggins and Csonka won Super Bowl MVPs, many of them won league MVP- but I think Emmitt Smith and TD are the only RBs to win both.
      TD had 60 TDs, averaged over 4.5 per carry, 90 per game, and still racked up over 7000 career yards despite his short career, only Jim Brown and Barry Sanders can boast ALL of those things.
      And TD's postseason numbers (often lost in the shuffle) are just bananas. He averaged 5.6 ypc, 131 ypg, 1.5 TDs in 8 games over 3 seasons.
      TD's career was short, but remarkable. When he was healthy, the top 3 RBs in the NFL were Barry, Emmitt, and TD. No ifs, ands, or buts. He is ABSOLUTELY a HoFer.

    • @GrassValleyGreg
      @GrassValleyGreg 7 лет назад

      bass reemer,
      Well, if you just refuse to accept it, I guess that is what it is. But I've given you the numbers. He's certainly not the greatest RB ever, not even the best in the AFC West (that would be fellow inductee, LT). But is he worthy of enshrinement? Yes.

    John Elway, Mike Shanahan, Shannon Sharpe will all say without TD the Broncos don't have two Super Bowls. John Elway would have retired like Marino with no rings. TD is the reason why Elway has two rings period. Yeah TD only had 4 good seasons, but he had better stats than Gayle Sayers, had one of the best postseasons as a runner with his 100 yard games. So you can say he's the Sandy Koufax of runners. Had a short career cut short due to the injury, but while they played they were the best at their position.

      Nonsense. Elway was the greatest qb of all time. Terrell Davis was a good running back in a great situation...period. John Elway would be a household name playing in any era, for any team...he was THAT talented, and THAT great. Davis landed in the ideal spot, and took advantage of that. If you need any proof, look at what happened to Davis the year after Elway retired. They came out 0-4....And even after Davis faded, Denver continued to have one of the league's best running games. But there were no more deep postseason penetrations.

    Terrell Davis doesn't belong in the Hall. He played from ages 23 until 26, then professionally died and was never heard of again. So basically Terrell Davis produced only on his rookie contract. And another big reason why he would get like 1500 yards is because he would handle like 350+ carries a year at under 5 yards pop.
    4 productive seasons is all you apparently need to get into the hall of fame lmao

    Davis was the right back for the right system.
    Alex Gibbs Wide Zone system changed the NFL. The top rushing team is a zone team, and 8 of the top 10 are as well.
    Is he a product of the system? Yeah. Is there anything wrong with that? Hell no. Nobody has ever run in that system better than TD.

    • @PaulGaither
      @PaulGaither 4 года назад

      @mtrujillo1973 - That is great and all, but even Alex Gibbs has broken down a lot of film on Davis and his scheme.
      If TD great? Yeah, he was. He made things happen when he made mistakes. He bailed the team out when the blocks failed. All true.
      At the same time, there is a reason almost every top rushing team is one which uses the zone scheme and it has taken over football at all levels of play.
      The 49ers had over 2,300 team rushing yards with a stable of UDFA nobodies and practice squad cast offs. They also led the NFL in yards before first contact. Why? Great blocking in what was a mostly zone heavy scheme, though Kyle used far more power than he normally had in the past to mix it up and attack how defense play against zone.
      Davis is a direct benefactor of being the first Zone Run One Cut back. Not only was he able to make things happen with the ball in tight spaces, nobody had seen that scheme before and it had yet to be understood/explored/proven to work with cast off players like it has now.
      Davis himself was a late round pick and special teams body who almost gave up on football while in Japan for a preseason game.
      The system makes backs look like stars.

    Elway is a first ballot HOF'er without his two rings. Without Terrell Davis , he is just like his buddy Dan Marino that he is sitting next to. A first ballot HOF QB with no rings. Elway was 0-3 in SB's before T. Davis, all blowouts. Don't think that these things weren't considered.

    • @GrassValleyGreg
      @GrassValleyGreg 7 лет назад +1

      No doubt about it. Elway has zero wings without TD. TD has zero rings without Elway. Both are record-holding all-time greats.

    • @normanball612
      @normanball612 7 лет назад +1

      Ok, in my opening line I stated that Elway was a first ballot HOFer without his rings, so I don't know why you thought that you had to tell me what I said. TD would not make it into the HOF without a ring? I was not disputing that. In fact, this was my point too. Because TD helped Elway get a ring that Marino and Tarkenton could not get was one of the reasons TD was voted in. Elway could not win before TD. Now, I wasn't comparing TD to Campbell, but its not like I couldn't. Earl Campbell is not head and shoulders above TD, even without the superbowls. SOoooo what you want to do Bass?

    • @GrassValleyGreg
      @GrassValleyGreg 7 лет назад

      bass reemer,
      True,
      And there's no way the Broncos have those rings without TD. He didn't just get one, he was the MVP.

    • @GrassValleyGreg
      @GrassValleyGreg 7 лет назад

      MVP doesn't stand for "helped contribute".

    • @GrassValleyGreg
      @GrassValleyGreg 7 лет назад

      And I'M saying and PROVING that you are just being stubborn. I've given you his numbers and accomplishments- the only thing TD lacked was longevity. I didn't realize you were the Representative of "The Rest of the Fans" lol. If TD could get in from JUST support from the Mile High fans, he would've been first ballot lol- evidently at least a FEW others felt he deserved it.
      Im not saying TD is top 10, he's not. But you don't HAVE to be. There are 32 RBs in Canton now. So is he Top 30? Yes, yes he is. And in the late 90s, he was arguably THE BEST. Better than Barry, Emmitt, Bettis, Martin, etc. Maybe not overall for career numbers- but for his healthy years, TD was certainly right up there- if not at the top.

    Someone please tell me how do you vote Terell Davis into the Hall of Fame when he wasn't the best back doing his ERA 10 years before or after. I'm very confused as to what the qualifications are how do you explain this to the new up-and-coming players with a straight face how do you explain to them this isn't politics and not about the play on the field. I'd rather see Terrell Owens make it over this guy!!
