      Atleast I'm not the only one that thought that then.... i think what he is saying is in rookie oval, don't race! Just take it slow and easy and don't crash 🤣 who wants to win anyway. Hes also saying if you do race, these real rookies will take you out at some point. Treat is like GTA and cruise around in your nice fresh car 👍🤣

      @@JakeStarMan Nah, do race. But understand that you probably have no raced any of the individuals in your lobby; so you have no idea if you can trust them. If you choose to race; just keep an eye out ahead.

      I just bought a year of iRacing yesterday because I want to start ovals (I have raced road sims for many years, RF2, AC, ACC and I have a real live bmw racecar so racing is not new to me in general) and cam I really be the last one in every race, just don’t crash and I will get rid of the rookie cars in about 5 races?
      If this is really true that would be amazing!
      I’d just go slow and „technically perfect“ and do my chilled out laps and learn the cars and tracks feeling instead of caring about positions at all!

      I think what you mean is: when you get in a crash, forget that the brake pedal exists and slide around on the track for a little while. Apply brakes and return to pits as soon as every car on the field has been involved.

    Some other tips for oval racing, having worked my way up to A class for about a year.
    -Tracks vary quite widely. Bristol is completely different from Charlotte, and Charlotte is vastly different from a track like Texas, and so on and so forth. Track width, banking, and surface abrasiveness are going to come into play a lot in races. Take the time to learn the tracks. If you are bad in one corner on an oval, you are bad on a 1/4th of the track, or even half the track! You can get away with being bad on a corner on a road course, not here.
    -On short tracks, aero doesn't matter much, but when you get to larger tracks like the 1.5 milers, and especially Daytona and Talladega, drafting is going to come into play. Especially when you get to NiS in C class with the Cup cars. They punch a huge hole in the air and car positioning is crucial.
    -Stock cars allow for a lot of hustling. You can correct small errors all day. Use this to your advantage if you screw up. Banging the wall a little bit isn't going to hurt you much
    -There are other oval series than just NASCAR stuff. Give late models a try, maybe modifieds. There is a fixed IndyCar series that run just ovals, and with the Indy Pro cars coming, chances are that there will be an oval series just for them.
    -The spotter is your friend. Learn to get comfortable with him.

      I've been on iracing for a week now, and I'm about to turn the spotter plumb off. I hate that dude. He tells me I'm clear when I'm not, "go high" when I should go low, he is NOT to be trusted! If the spotter catches me out, he better cross the street, that's all I'm sayin....

    I think the biggest tip for rookies is not to worry too much about your finishing position. Its better to learn how to battle cleanly and to know you can't win everything. While at the same time, your peers are going to love racing with you, because they know they're going to enter a fair fight with you, and by that effect you're gonna have a great time because you'll know your mettle

  • @bluezaku78
    @bluezaku78 3 года назад +25

    Kinda disagree with this "rush out of Rookie as fast as you can" thing in every Rookie Oval tutorial on RUclips. Yes, hanging out in the back then pacing so you can hot lap the oval alone is great for SR, but you're wasting the learning experience. Charlotte and USA Speedway are specifically chosen to help you learn techniques you'll need on every other oval in the sim. Rushing through them, you'll wind up in a higher class and be miserable, because you didn't learn how to pass and defend safely or keep race pace and now your iRating is so low you're in the bottom split every time. That means worse drivers, more wrecks, and a death spiral for your fun as it can feel impossible to climb out of the hole you've dug.
    You don't have to race hard or go for podium in Rookie Ovals, but you should absolutely be racing, even if that means risking your SR sometimes. Better to risk it learning important skills when you're still a Rookie, rather than cause cautions and stress over the danger of a demotion in higher classes.

Obviously you should try to avoid wrecks and be cautious, but I think it's good to still learn how to race clean in rookies, otherwise they're going to get to D (or higher) and still not know how to race. It wouldn't be a problem if they were only causing problems for themselves, but usually they're running other's races.

      They’re a great car to learn on. Lower horsepower, good speed. Easy to control and get the hang of. The Legends cars are usually much cleaner, and they’re more nimble, but are easier to unsettle.

    One thing I dont understand is when are these promotion days, I started a few weeks ago and I am currently in C class where I got by 4.0 sr and I am already done with everything to get to B class I could get up to 4.0 sr for instant again but what I want to know is when are these promotion days ? Because some season run 12 weeks but other like 35 or so where do I see when the promotion day is ?

    • @xm0ar
      @xm0ar 4 года назад

      You'll be promoted at the end of the 12 week season if above 3.0 and fulfilled minimum participation requirements, or instantly if you hit 4.0. The MPR also states you must complete a minimum number of races at a given license level.
