This is a great education for me. I have gaps in my knowledge of how the colonisation process was performed in the US. Moran did a awesome job in documenting his journey. His fantastical compositions did more in communicating the sublime than a camera ever could. Thanks Smarthistory!

Man, Jackson's efforts were not in vain at all. What a moment it must've been for him to capture his image. And what a moment for the first viewers of it. I'm inspired. There's no mountains in Orlando, so seeing the actual images of Yellowstone is its own experience provoking its own feelings as well. I've got to get some travel in this year, lol.

I started watching smart history on Kahn academy to study for scholastic bowl. I kept watching smart history because of the breadth of knowledge achievable through art history

Friends, Smart History does an unbelievable job to entertain and educate us. It has only 158k subscribers and should easily have a million. What can we do to promote the channel? Ideas?

Red circles in the thumbnail? Red arrows? Clickbaity titles? "You won't believe what Thomas Moran did next..", "Thomas Moran became America's most beloved painter because of this one simple thing", "Top ten observations Thomas Moran made while at Yellowstone". Unfortunately popularity on RUclips is no indication of quality. Channels that promote disinformation and little content get regularly promoted and watched. If RUclips popularity was reflected in a content's quality, Smart History would be right up there.

@@c7261 That made me laugh, really hard. Thank you. Still, we would like to reach more people and very much appreciate Charles Joseph's comment.
      Best,
      Steven
