- A video showcasing this hub bearing puller tool I use in my day to day. Works well so I thought I would showcase it in action and give a mini- review.

It's great! I bought a Amazon knock off for 37.00 looks exactly like the Lisle, works great!!!
But the problem so many knuckles have backing plates or parking shoes wich is impossible to use this tool without damaging either backing plate or caliper mounts
Yeah, pretty much every recent Mazda and Subaru don’t have any surface to push against. The welded nut method is the fastest cleanest solution but you need a welder: weld a pair of nuts to the hub carrier and use a bolt to push against the knuckle, and since you have to remove the spindle to get to the meat of the knuckle to press against there is no way to attach a tool like this, and if you did, it would just pull the spindle out without the carrier.
@@emotionz3 there's one more way to get it, I'm a good welder, but I think it's too much, don't u?
@@emotionz3 shame on me, but I have not tried such a heavy slide hammer, have u? I'm thinking about to get one like really heavy.
@@emotionz3 I think a slide hammer won't damage parts of suspension that much as a tool u have to use a sledge hammer+torch
Breaking the backing plate is still worth it. If I have a stuck bearing and am at the point of giving up then that plate is the least of my concerns

Don't like the idea of pushing against the ear on a aluminum spindle but ok.
The bond between the hub and knuckle is still weaker than the Aluminum hub. The bearing will break free before the knuckle cracks. And if youre in the situation where this tool isn't going to work for you then you need to replace the knuckle anyway along with the fused bearing
So how's it work on a Subaru rear bearing? Those things are MOTHERS.
I have that tool, and in vehicles where you can get a clear shot at the knuckle it works fine. Not Subarus. Subarus bearings have a tendency to tear apart, so after you get the hub off you've still got the inboard race of the bearing stuck inside. In Subarus there are many ways to get the hub off (slide hammer, hub buster, etc), but once hub is off, tools like this can't be used. To get the inboard race off, an air hammer with chisel attachment works best in my experience, finding a cleavage plane between the knuckle and the backing plate. I've had no luck trying to air hammer loosened mounting bolts from the inside. Eric O welds a nut onto the remains of the bearing mounting plate, to allow the same kind of action again with hub off.
Don’t work in Hondas or compact cars maybe in trucks
