Hello I play the double bass but I just would really like to say that this channel is underrated and you are doing good at teaching also playing the cello! 😊
I Started may last year and I'm at Suzuki 2, pieces 10/11 currently, though at the middle of book 2 we slowed down extremely to fokus on the little things like bow weight and better understanding of the lengths of each note and rest and how it interacts with the next one. But no more playing face to face, but side to side since a few weeks, because my posture is (mostly) very good. I'm still a bit stiff in both hands but it's getting better 🥰 Still depend on those darn stickers tho and it's getting a bit frustrating 😅
I began the cello about a year ago, but stopped after a couple of months because of my arthritis. I now have an electric, left-handed cello from Thomann, and am ready to re-learn what I started.
Started today. I have a friend that I'll be getting lessons from soon so I can learn properly, but I'm impatient and wanted to at least get a basic start now.
@@ThomannMusic I played from 12yrs old to 18yrs old. Picked it up again at 29 years old. It was pretty emotional plucking a string after a long time. Very upsetting I lost a lot of skills but it’s to be expected. You truly never lose what you have learned. It will come back to me in due time.
Thank you so much. I’m an older person leaning cello. Just for my own pleasure.. So many beginner videos on RUclips are so complex and convoluted one would run screaming to the hills. So grateful for your realistic beginner tips.
trust your ear. imagine when you hit a note flat on the guitar, you instinctively bend a bit till you hear the note sound right. classical sting instruments are the same way until you get the positions down. you can slide your finger up and down a bit until it sounds right. eventually, like with all things you'll get better with practice.
I guess Cello isn't really a 'Cool' instrument to play but, I've grown to like the sound of it, as I've gotten older. I always thought that people who know how to play fretless instruments as really talented I guess you can say. (Fretless anything is not easy). I've played guitar and started getting into fretless bass / and Cello OfCourse. Maybe one day I'll start to learn it, once I get over the fear of being made fun of for playing one. I don't know really any Cello songs that are played besides maybe one. It's a great song called 'Einar Stray - Arrows (acoustic)' and worth checking out. Anyways, I'll definitely come back to this video, if I decide to start learning it. Thanks.
THANKS FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL TUTORIAL, WHICH WAS QUITE DETAILED, I AM WATCHING FROM WEST AFRICA (NIGERIA), AND I AM JUST A MONTH OLD LEARNING THE CELLO, IT IS QUITE CHALLENGING I MUST SAY, BECAUSE I DO BROW CELLO TO LEARN.
May I ask what is the risk of purchasing a silent cello as a beginner cello a good move? I work odd hours I don’t have sound proof walls at home & I don’t want to disturb others.
I have a genuine question. I just started learning cello after playing Double Bass for a year, and I primarily use the German Bow style with my bass, but with the cello being smaller I learned that it does not have a German Bow type. Is there anything wrong with me buying a Fresh German Bow and using cello rosin on it to play my cello?
How long have you been playing the cello or when did you decide to get started?

I played cello for six years, it’s been 11 since i last touched it. Great refresher video and simple ! It’s one of the best instruments to play

How hard was for you and at what age did you start playing?

No frets, but some orchestra instructors will put thin electrical tape to mimic them 🤷♂️
jeeez. don’t put yucky tape on your nice instruments yall come on. that makes me cringe
I play guitar, but the cello gives me such peace in my heart like nothing else❤❤
You're a wonderful teacher. Thank you.

Bach Suite 1 Prelude!
Great lesson! Is there any indicator on a note so that a celloist would know what part (e.g. middle) on the bow should be placed on a string to start?
