This was great, Sarah! So systematic, easy to follow, and fun! Loved the bow finger exercises---I hadn't seen those before....and also excited to try tuning with a drone. =)
Thank you Sarah, as a child and young adult a played the violin but always loved the cello, I recently bought a cello at 51 years of age and am pleased how much the two instruments transfer on bow position. I looked up your video to ensure I'm not forming bad habits as I've been self taught so far. I appreciate the level of detail on body position, blowing position, etc. Thank you, I will be looking at more of your videos 😁
Thank you for your attention to detail, Sarah. I'm just starting to learn, and I don't have the question until I run into them; your instructions are good to know beforehand.
I've seen a few videos for beginner cellists, and they were good, but this was the best. And that book sounds good. That was a problem I had playing bass and piano was they'd give you one page and then move on. I didn't feel it helped my sight reading because after playing it a few times I had it memorized and it wasn't challenging me.
your video is simply perfect!:,) i've learned these basics from the experience and various videos (i wish there was your video back then), but I will recommend it to anyone starting the cello
Thank You! Super helpful! I just recently purchased a cello and ever so patiently waiting for it to arrive. I am so excited to start taking lessons and practicing. I really like how you referenced the piano keyboard to the finger board.
It wouldn’t be my first choice, but they are certainly durable! I would check Fiddlershop. I have one of their Holstein bows and I love it. They’re very reasonably priced as well.
Just got my first cello, cheers!
Stop making such amazing tutorials! You're gonna make me buy a cello!
Haha dooo iiiiit

Thanks so much for this! I'm about to order my first cello (but my 15th instrument) and this is super helpful! :)

Thank you for alleviating my nervousness...believe it or not I am an ex Para reservist and did not think that anything could unsettle me. 🌹🌹🌹

Thank you.
Tomplay sounds cool. I would have guessed it was for drums with the name 'Tom'
Thanks for your beautiful video. Would you suggest a carbon fiber bow for adult beginners?
