Edit: I looked up the article and this is a quote from it: Former supermodel and judge on "America’s Next Top Model" Janice Dickinson said last week that she doesn’t regret any of the controversial comments she made during her run on the reality show, including remarks that were seen as fat-shaming and ageist.
"It was acting. And that’s that," Dickinson told a fan who asked the question on social media.

In the least, uh, controversial way I can put it, "Blonde" is not a movie about Marilyn Monroe, it's about "Marilyn Monroe." The movie is less a biopic and more an adaptation of a novel, and the original novel is a fictionalized account of the life of Marilyn Monroe (and Norma Jean Baker).
A lot of the distaste for it comes from people who feel that (in the current Hollywood culture) it's easily mistaken for a true story, rather than fiction. The "Myth of Marilyn" is well known in culture and a lot of audiences are likely to take "Blonde" as a near-factual account of her life.

Watching this back I have to ask why would they give her Grace Jones? The girl was upset because she didn't look like her so she wasn't sure how she was going to pull it off. That's actually a reasonable concern and I actually agree. They could have gave her another celebrity that looked closer to her like they did the other models but they gave her Grace Jones? And Tyra is not a dark skin woman so she is not in the position to be insulted on behalf of a dark-skinned woman. This situation actually reminds me of when Zoe Saldana was casted to play Nina Simone a few years ago and there was a lot of outrage about that. Zoe Saldana looked nothing like Nina Simone, so much so that they gave her a prosthetic nose, spray tanned her skin, and gave her a party city looking wig, The whole thing was very insulting and it was not a good look. They could have just casted an actress that looked like Nina Simone to play her but they didn't do that. So I completely see where the model was coming from. And she still did an amazing job.

She wasn’t even short. Maybe by modeling guidelines, but not in general. I believe she was 5’7”. I’m so glad the industry is changing. We have models that are thin, curvy, thick, small breasts, large breasts, small bums, large bums, short, average, tall, many different skin colors, crooked/gap teeth, models with disabilities, tattoos, whatever. So happy with how diverse it is becoming. I wish I would have grown up being taught self-love and seeing media with all different types of bodies, instead of fashion shows and magazines calling women short or chunky. Gave me really bad self-esteem issues and body dysmorphia.

@River McAndrew also, I am aware of these things. 2 of my uncles were underwear models in their twenties, another one of my other uncles lives in LA and is a former print model and an actor that mainly is in LGBTQ shows/movies. Also, my fiancé was approached several times to be a male runway model as a teenager, but he always turned it down due to his self-esteem issues. He is 6’3.5”
I unfortunately inherited my height from my little Sicilian grandpa. I’m 5’3.5”, but look taller since I have longer arms and legs and a short torso.
I just love the diversity that is happening now with all body types. Lily Rose Depp is a runway and print model at 5’3”, Devin Aoki 5’5”, Amina Blue 5’1”, Georgia May Jagger 5’7”, Iskra Lawrence plus-size, Ali Tate-Cutler plus-size , Thando Hapo South African albino
It’s beautiful to see diversity in the fashion industry.
Also, my point about calling the women chunky when they weren’t. Tyra didn’t have any room for such comments as she is curvy herself and was no where near her leanest size.

@@d1am0nds there's a fine line and it's pretty obvious. If it's not clearly orange, it's going to be offensive to most (but technically not all) people of color, and most white people younger than 70 as well. The POC who aren't offended have every right to have a different take on it. But the yts who think brown is the new orange need to do some serious soul-searching to say the very least.

Ugh on the topic of that "biography". It was so disrespectful to Marilyn. Firstly, Marilyn struggled with infertility but in the movie they made her suffer multiple unwanted abortions which would have never happened. It's presented as very "pro life". Then the whole movie is basically torture p**n with graphic SA scenes. The director was basically fantasizing about harming her. I can't tell you how upsetting that movie was to watch. Marilyn deserved care and respect that she never got and still isn't getting after her death.

It's possible she could have had abortions, but I don't think there's any evidence of that. She was certainly passed around like a piece of meat by the studio executives in Hollywood, it was pretty awful for her.

@River McAndrew you know for some who likes screaming at people to “get over it,” you sure do sound overly aggressive over someone just stating their opinion about a movie. Maybe YOU should get over the fact that other people will have an opinion that is different from your own.

Please watch the episode one on this cycle. The first photo shoot was a Garden of Eden-themed nude shoot for Fresh Look contact lenses, in which the women portraying as Eve with 12 different cultures, wore only sequins and body paint. And it was so hyped! Of course one model overslept and arrived late at the photoshoot.

Please do the episode of the nude photoshoot from cycle one. I think its episode 7, not sure. Also I saw that you were defending Robin a lot which is cool but I actually met Adrianne in real life a few years ago and she told me that Robin was way worse of a person than what they showed. She displayed homophobia and bullying towards Elyse for being an atheist and Adrienne did tell me that Robin was way worse. But you usually only evaluate the photoshoots so you probably havent seen those scenes. I still love your content btw. Just letting you know about my experience with Adrienne. Adrienne also told me that Tyra is worse than Naomi Campbell behind the scenes, she portrays something completely different when the cameras are off. I met Adrianne at a Comic Con years ago.
