The new emergency vehicles this year really reminds me of the old 2003 World City theme's aesthetic. The Red/Blue light bars, generally darker colors with big and bulky sleek builds, generally looking more serious and ready to action than former City police vehicles which in comparison felt more playful and lighthearted.
Yes. I loved the police sets around that time (and earlier). They fell off until recently.. Bought the emergency 40582 SUV last year. Was a fun build. Looked great
I was thinking the same thing, the rescue helicopter bears STRONG similarities to the World City coast guard helo. I'm a big World City fan and I really love this direction.
Funny, I just saw the old world city set 7032 from 2005 which was selling at my local toy shop last year, the minifigures wearing black suits and sunglasses like government agents really fit in this set
The value here is insane. One of the coolest looking City sets, full of features and excellent design (with a terrain side-build!), yet it costs only $55?! Incredible.
This has to be the best police command type set they've released, I love the use of space and details, minfigs in city have been getting more detailed in their uniforms torso. I would like to see an articulated trailer design in the future for command in police medical etc.
Love this build! Nice and compact build. Side builds and minifigures are also quite nice! That yellow color is nice, doesn't take away from build much at all and fits quite well! Overall a nice new City set!
Wow! Seriously impressed with how much they've managed to pack into this set, both in terms of features and accessories. I had started to completely disregard City police, but I'm glad I gave this review a look. This would have been an absolute treat to have as a kid. It's stylish, but that hasn't come at the expense of the fun factor.
I've seen large tour busses used as a platform for police command and surveillance teams, so I thought this type of vehicle was both realistic to our world and refreshing to the Lego police line up. Cool, unique set and a great review!
Thanks for pointing out the bars on the new chain link fence piece. I’d love to see how that can be used without the frame to make a more realistic-looking fence. I get it’s easier to make a set for kids with the frames, but while it represents the thing in System, it doesn’t really look right for real life.
Annoyingly there are really good knockoff brand chain link pieces on Ebay etc, that are much bigger and can be clipped together. Wish they 'copied' that!
This is actually incredible, the truck feels like a Speed Champions level of quality design. There's so much to do with it and that little step is something they didn't have to add but did anyway, and it's so good.
I love the forensics figure. Its probably the first set in this 'mobile crime truck' sub-genre that comes close to the gold old command centre set 7743
Those chainlink fence pieces are so good for city building, they look really neat. Great set, I remember the old command vehicle set 6676 - Mobile Command Unit (1986) it was super simple and bare bones.
This heat has been an incredible turnaround for city, the 2020-23 was pretty bad but this year is pretty solid, good set, I prefer the 2008 and 2011 one more but the new design and color scheme is pretty nice. Based on the title I was expecting a CSI van and was surprised LEGO would do that
It's not the most realistic setup with that exposed double decker thing going on, but it definitely makes good use of the space and parts and allows for more play value. The truck has a nice modern design too. The lack of grill may be because the vehicle is meant to be electric. A like the little terrain build and the story it tells about escaping fugitives. That crime scene investigator minifigure is pretty great!
Yeah, this definitely has a converted coach/tour bus vibe to it. It reminds of this Matchbox single-car transporter I had when I was a kid. It had gullwing doors to get into the cockpit. I had dismissed it at first but your review has convinced me I should get one.
Thank you for this review. Kudos to the designer. This is such a clever City Police set, maybe the best "command truck" so far? Plus, I think the truck being compact, it's almost futuristic. I'm sure it can be part of a Cyberpunk themed crime scene without a lot of adjustments... Would you add it to your futuristic town, @JANGsLEGOreviews?
Wow! This set is top notch. I had Lego 6348 Surveillance Squad when I was a kid, and this is far and beyond that set. So many features, and the flip down step was really cool. Probably gonna pick this one up
I really like this. With some modifications and additions, you could create a kind of Clue game for a child. You set up a crime scene and have them place down evidence markers and think up stories of what happened. Imagine using the modular buildings to set up crime scenes ahead of time. Or a passenger train evoking Murder On The Orient Express lol.
I'm surprised you didn't mention how they managed to suggest access to the upper lab with that little ladder build, I thought that was neat. I'm glad the leaning suspension thing seems to be fully integrated as a feature and not be relegated to a limited time gimmick, they have their charm. Likewise, I've also been liking the vibrant yellow colour. Has that headphone piece come in black before? I don't recall, but if this is the first time it has this feels huge for it. Black is a far more common colour for headphones than turquoise or tan, I'd be down to order a few of them on their own for custom minifigures.
If 10-14 years ago you'd asked me if I could imagine a Lego prince of Persia line of sets introducing a sturdy, short and tall arch piece that one day was gonna be used in a Lego city set I'd never believe you... And yet.
This is one of the best Lego police sets ever, possibly my favorite Right when I saw this set I knew it would be great, there's more details you showed that show how awesome it is
Wow; this is way better than I originally thought! The brick-built design and clever mechanisms are incredibly impressive, especially for a LEGO City set. 😊
I got this set day 1 due to the forensics lady. I was suprised they used 1x3 jumpers in the cab. For a crime lab, the build was extremely nice and I loved how the roof folded to reveal the command center. Honestly this is my 2nd favorite Lego City set this wave.
As someone who hasn't bought a City set in years, this looks genuinely good! Growing up I moved away from buying those, preferring to make my own City-esque models, but the use of the darker tones, snot side panels and Speed Champions dimensions and wheels makes it look really nice.
Hi Jang, this would probably make for a great RV and I'll probably try to integrate the little crime scene into the newsstand of the modular Police Building.
Really world public services totally use flourescant green like that. It's not a bad color it's just that it's equally as gaudy as it is IRL. There's a friends ocean lab that is loaded with that color and my sister thought it made it look more like a playground, she has plenty of friends sets though so she just replaced the colors.
I am starting to think LEGO City is a police state considering the amount of crime. Like c'mon, huge police trucks are excessive. They decided to make huge aircraft and fighter jets! This set is better than most since it feels more grounded than *cough* *cough* sky police
Nice review! I would have liked the truck to be a little taller (it looks really squat due to being 8-wide), but it's a different style that I could do things with. Also, in my head, that male cop? That's Duke DeTain from Lego City Adventures, a little older and a *little* mellower. He probably still drives this thing like he did the cop cars on the show, though.
I've very much come to think just about any vehicle build on the larger end of 6 studs should be made to fit 2 figures side by side, unless explicitly a class of vehicle only meant to fit one operator and no passengers.
Now this is a neat set, especially for the use of space there. You're absolutely right about using it as a basis for other sets; indeed, seeing this once again makes me pretty baffled that Lego *still* hasn't made a set of the articulated RV/trailer from The Lost World!
Very impressive, this mist be one of the best Mobile Command Center so far! I love how the opening of the side is optimised to add another deck. Very efficient. I personally also love when you can sit two minifigs side by side in a vehicle, so its brilliant to see this truck allowing that! It wont take the top spot for Mobile Command Centers, as it doesn't store all three types of smaller vehicles (plane, boat and road), like the Agents one, but it's not trying to, so there's that.
Wow I was surprised that the quad has that lean and turn action. And the color schemes for the truck and the quad are perfect. I think Lego has really stepped up their city sets this year. The figures are good too!
So glad we finally got the black headphones piece. I'm gonna pick up a few of those on BrickLink when I get the chance; I need a pair for my _Star Wars_ sig-fig.
In the layout of the truck it looks a lot like the 7288 mobile command centre. Have the cab at the front, an office space for 2 figures in the middle then cell at the back
I choose to think of the yellow markers as cheese and that the thief is a cheese thief that dropped the goods during their escape. A decent playset, but having a jail cell in a crime lab truck doesn't make sense to me, especially with a window for the crook to look at the evidence! I would've rather seen a true crime lab truck as a separate, smaller set and have this one be a regular mobile command truck a la what they've done for years/decades.
I saw it and I didn’t give it a second thought, honestly. However, now I see that there’s quite a lot of interesting building techniques. I might buy it.
Change the color scheme to Classic Space, get rid of the bars and make that section into an airlock, and connect the driving area with the back. Also, but on some different wheels. Now you have a space explorer vehicle.
This actually does look really good for an official Lego set if I was like you and liked everything to be a moc I would use the set as inspiration get the parts and put the custom one together first and then have the parts available from the old one for other fun stuff its just an idea for the future
Yeah, at first sight, I liked the design of this, and amid some issues pointed out, on one hand it feels like something we haven't had before, and I am quite satisfied overall with it. Will make my choice on which set to get from this wave, though.
I absolutely love this! Definitely the best one for me I love the forensic part it’s just so different, also the side builds and mini figs are good and a good price. Great job Lego city 👍
I do really love this set, but one thing that's been bothering me is it won't fit on the city roadways. Wonder if they may do an updated road set sometime soon?
Hey Jang! Thank you for the review, as always! Hopefully you will be able to see and answer this between all your Twitch streaming now. When you get a substantial City set that you really like and want to keep, what do you do with it? Especially with your own city being 100% custom these days.
Hello! I'm not sure what Twitch has to do with the equation as YT has been my primary focus for about 16 years now 😂 Since my LEGO city (on top of the tables at least) is 100% custom, no sets go into it and no sets are kept for it. Sets are, as always, purchased to build & review for the viewers. After that they're of no further use to viewers and thus of no further use to me. Because buying all of these sets is so expensive, I am no longer even able to keep sets for parts, instead getting just the pieces I want or need for custom projects independently through Pick a Brick and Bricklink.
9 studs wide.... good luck putting those on the road plates. It looks real good though - except for the color scheme, but that's just me. And why is there a color mess on the bottom?
Because lego sets have been designed since the early 2000s to alternate between colored pieces in the hidden sections of the build in order to help you keep track of which step you're on in the instructions. Much easier to spot where to put the new pieces when they're brightly colored, and it doesn't matter a huge amount in the finished product if the bottom is a riot of colors when the truck is supposed to sit on its wheels where the bottom is invisible. This is just a slightly more extreme example than usual.
At first I was disappointed I like the version of this that has a tractor and a trailer that opens up for the command center. But as I kept looking at the set… it’s a RV! Ok I think it’s growing on me a mobile police RV
The new emergency vehicles this year really reminds me of the old 2003 World City theme's aesthetic. I would snip the numbers off of the sticker sheet and put them on the evidence markers.
I suspect the lack of grill is because the vehicle is supposed to be electric :)
Love that they give you that one by one piece to act as one of those yellow markers for forensic photography, such a cleaver little part usage
This has to be the best police command type set they've released, I love the use of space and details, minfigs in city have been getting more detailed in their uniforms torso. I would like to see an articulated trailer design in the future for command in police medical etc.
Looks very sleek and clean for a city set! Especially in the front
This truck is deluxe. It looks super clean. That step to get in the lab blew my mind. Thank you for doing to review. ❤
Love this build! Nice and compact build. Side builds and minifigures are also quite nice! That yellow color is nice, doesn't take away from build much at all and fits quite well! Overall a nice new City set!
Love that the cabin roof is made out of separate bricks not one piece, kinda odlschool, like World City series
Wow! Seriously impressed with how much they've managed to pack into this set, both in terms of features and accessories. I had started to completely disregard City police, but I'm glad I gave this review a look. This would have been an absolute treat to have as a kid. It really also has an 'armored' feel, very nice.

Great set, I remember the old command vehicle set 6676 - Mobile Command Unit (1986) it was super simple and bare bones.
This truck looks more like some sort of cyberpunk bus to me. I really like the brick builded color stripes.
I could be wrong, but this feels like the first time LEGO has leaned into the CSI side of police investigations, a little more mature, but I like it!
This heat has been an incredible turnaround for city, the 2020-23 was pretty bad but this year is pretty solid, good set, I prefer the 2008 and 2011 one more but the new design and color scheme is pretty nice. Based on the title I was expecting a CSI van and was surprised LEGO would do that

something about that little sewer hatch escape side build is utterly charming. as a standalone thing, i love it
This looks great!
I find it funny that it’s implied minifigs have fingerprints despite the claw hands but also have their square feet too! 😂
Another City banger inn my eyes, got "realistic yet cooler and interesting" vibes
and 55€ is fine
7:58 Turquoise appears to be the new color for crook vehicles in Lego City Replacing the red and black vehicles they've been using
If 10-14 years ago you'd asked me if I could imagine a Lego prince of Persia line of sets introducing a sturdy, short and tall arch piece that one day was gonna be used in a Lego city set I'd never believe you... And yet.
Bring back the Ostrich!
Back in the day I saved up only for that dromedary and ostrich sets, so happy to still have them. That line was so cool honestly
This is one of the best Lego police sets ever, possibly my favorite
Right when I saw this set I knew it would be great, there's more details you showed that show how awesome it is
Wow; this is way better than I originally thought! The brick-built design and clever mechanisms are incredibly impressive, especially for a LEGO City set. 😊
Probably the coolest mobile police unit they've made
I got this set day 1 due to the forensics lady. I was suprised they used 1x3 jumpers in the cab. For a crime lab, the build was extremely nice and I loved how the roof folded to reveal the command center. Honestly this is my 2nd favorite Lego City set this wave.

Wow, that step up to the central lab space being integrated that nicely… that’s above and beyond. Really nice design here
I am starting to think LEGO City is a police state considering the amount of crime.
Like c'mon, huge police trucks are excessive. They decided to make huge aircraft and fighter jets!
This set is better than most since it feels more grounded than *cough* *cough* sky police
Well, at least this is a crime lab and not a surveilance truck again xD
Nice review! I would have liked the truck to be a little taller (it looks really squat due to being 8-wide), but it's a different style that I could do things with. Also, in my head, that male cop? That's Duke DeTain from Lego City Adventures, a little older and a *little* mellower. He probably still drives this thing like he did the cop cars on the show, though.
Love the design of the truck's interior space, simple and genius. Also is it me or the beanie cap convict is very reminiscent of Jessie Pinkman?
Great set, that van is so aesthetic in its shaping and colors. Love the value in this, I think a crime scene investigation set is a very nice idea
I've very much come to think just about any vehicle build on the larger end of 6 studs should be made to fit 2 figures side by side, unless explicitly a class of vehicle only meant to fit one operator and no passengers.
This is so great! So much functionality and such great use of space

A smaller mobile command center reminicent of my childhood obsession, #8635 Agents Mobile Command Center.
is that a trans light blue tooth for the lights up front? that's actually an awesome color for the piece
Wow I was surprised that the quad has that lean and turn action. And the color schemes for the truck and the quad are perfect. I think Lego has really stepped up their city sets this year. The figures are good too!
When I was younger I used to collect the Lego city police sets and I remember a similar crime lab truck set I used to own.
So glad we finally got the black headphones piece. I'm gonna pick up a few of those on BrickLink when I get the chance; I need a pair for my _Star Wars_ sig-fig.

Looks sleek could easily just have this for display
Looks fantastic awesome review jang 👍
it reminds me a lot of the mobile batcave truck that came out a couple years ago
I saw it and I didn’t give it a second thought, honestly. However, now I see that there’s quite a lot of interesting building techniques. I might buy it.
Cool Lab Truck! 🚚
Change the color scheme to Classic Space, get rid of the bars and make that section into an airlock, and connect the driving area with the back. Also, but on some different wheels. Now you have a space explorer vehicle.

I think this sets is really maximising space by adding many more features that the older mobile police truck/units
Double front seats. So they can?! :O
The rounding at the bottom makes it look a lot more classy!
Lego city should come out with a greyhound theme like bus. That’s the vibes I’m getting from this set.
Also love the joke of stealing a convertible car... By using a crowbar to open the door. Smartest crook ever?
Hey Jang! Thank you for the review, as always! Hopefully you will be able to see and answer this between all your Twitch streaming now. When you get a substantial City set that you really like and want to keep, what do you do with it? Especially with your own city being 100% custom these days.

as soon as he opened it to reveal the double decker design, I knew it was a home run set design
This reminds me of a lego swat police truck. Might use this for my super secret police minifigures.
Not a fan of 8 wide vehicles but this doesn't look bad actually.
I don’t mind it. Originally I didn’t give it the time of day but your review has shined some positive light on the set. Maybe I’ll grab it on a sale.
At first I was disappointed I like the version of this that has a tractor and a trailer that opens up for the command center. But as I kept looking at the set… it’s a RV! Ok I think it’s growing on me a mobile police RV
Interesting to see a crime lab in Lego
It would be better if middle lab part could be parted on each side. Sitting upside-down is not very convenient...
This set is amazing! I love the new tires, I might actually get this . . .
Reminds me of the Lego Agents mobile command center I dreamed of having as a kid
I have a forest kit with the same type of ATV for the forest ranger.
A really cool build
Reminds me of the Lego agents truck, though admittedly, that one was significantly cooler.
how can THAT even turn?
Man, i miss the agents theme and this reminds me slightly of that.
I meant what do you build first?
Good to see its a single truck now but i still prefer the 2011 and 2014 version
I think I'd like to copy that cab onto a semi truck chassis
The truck is as long as a baseplate?
That is a great set. And course those are footprints/ I can see kids having fun with this
The LEGO City police is now going for a red and blue light design now? Boy have the times have changed
Near perfect set. Only complaints are the lack of seating in the lower portion of the police vehicle and no hair peice for the forensic specialist.
This is cool but I definitely need Lego to make a speed champion scale rv already
Hat do you build first?
What formula?
Seems like lego city's FINALLY getting better! :)
Even the interior of the product is detailed and very nice.
It has many peaces but to me it feels like it should not kost more than 40 €.
And as usual, no chairs which totally sucks. But somehow I like it.
