President Trump and Democrat Rival Joe Biden took part in the first presidential debate in the US overnight.
One controversial moment took place when moderator Chris Wallace asked the US president whether he would condemn white supremacists, to which Trump replied, “Sure, I’m willing to do that...Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.” According to the Washington Post, the Proud Boys have been described by the FBI as a far-right, male-exclusive group and the bureau also considers the group to have ties to white nationalism, an assertion to which the group objected.
