*Hi folks, sorry about the audio...and the music which is a tad loud about half way through. I didn't realise until it was uploaded....didn't wan't to re-do it, but if it's too loud...let me know and I'll re-do it tomorrow...take care* x
Wow you sound like a truely lovely lady the way your voice is soothing to the ear may you keep save and well and thanks for the videos that’s me just listening to Them now I’m Gonna make those stovies you shared with us x💜
The lady is the video is absolutely marvellous I stay just across the water in Largs and the women cooks exactly how my mum would and my parents aren’t here anymore pls pls pls don’t ever take these videos away because I’ve done all my cooking the eat you’ve done yours brilliant
Will be making this tomorrow to help the family get through this isolation. It was supposed to be my 9yo’s birthday party, but that can’t happen anymore. He will have an unbirthday party once the covid19 crisis is over. Thanks for all you do, your simple tasty recipes take me back to my childhood as it’s so like my nanna would cook for my Scottish poppy, and we all enjoyed it too when we visited. Take care, and thanks again.
Good morning. We sat up in bed watching this before breakfast! My husband has hearing difficulties but commented that he could hear every word you said in your delightful accent due to your clear diction and not a loud soundtrack behind it. His immediate reaction was “ this lady should win an award for clarity of speech and excellent diction”. So nice to see you are on the trending list as well, so deserved. To get to the recipe, it looks wonderful, pity he is type two diabetic so I shouldn’t be making it, darn it! Congratulations on a well recorded, informative and tempting site.
New subscriber here. I’m Scottish living away from my home in the highlands. Can I just say how much I am loving your channel. Your voice/accent is so comforting to listen to and just reminds me of home, and all your recipes are what my granny would make us when we were wee. Please don’t stop making videos! You sound like the kindest, warmest lady ever. ❤️
Thanks Cheryl or Sheryl! Love your show! My grandmother was from Scotland and a wonderful cook, especially her baking skills. You have some wonderful dishes!
A heartfelt thanks from my 43yr old bairn Craig as you have got me back in the kitchen....he is the one bringing me my supplies,am loaded out with plain flour, condensed milk, golden syrup, brown and caster sugar and bars of chocolate??🤣Now we have moved up a notch with salted caramel 😍 "Awww mum swear to God that wifie is brilliant, this is LUSH!!"💗😂 Cheers Cheryl ♥️
first one :) shortcake is very near to my heart. I love your recipe for millionaires shortbread and i am looking forward to trying this one out during my forced stay-at-home... thanks for posting all these lovely videos. I enjoy your style very much
Thanks for this beautiful video. I'm in the same situation as you (from Spain), and hearing your lovely voice explain this mouth-watering recipe just brightened up my day. 😘😘
Hi Cheryl , discovered your channel yesterday on RUclips , whilst looking for a recipe for Stovies , now I am totally addicted to your recipes , so well explained , so tasty looking , we!l done you , can I move in , lovely Bonnie Scotland
Ooh baby!! One of my favorite flavors. Can't wait to make. Hope ur all safe well. We're hunkered down here in minn. All is well so far. Best to u n ur family. Much luv 😍👍
After watching your video, I now know what I did wrong...I boiled the caramel far too long ! Definitely going to make it again following your video.....think I better leave it for a couple of weeks until my family get over the trauma of my offerings this morning 😀😀😀
made your caramel tart last night - was fantastic with custard! never done so much cooking in my life during these uncertain times but glad i have you Cheryl to inspire me to cook and make our food go further x going to try the hamburger macaroni tomorrow ☺️ all the best to you and your family especially wee Jasper stay safe !
I like to put my condensed milk tins or 2 into the slow cooker overnight covered with water to make into caramel. I never have any luck making the caramel in a pot. The unopened tins keep well in the fridge for a long time. (unless I open and eat straight out the tin)😉
Aw...love your channel, all your recipes are fabulous and so easy to follow. And your accent sounds like mine to. I live in Ardrossan. Thanks for this. Xxx
Love love your videos ❤️ I have tried your shortbread technique It's amazing it also works as a base for A cheese cake instead of biscuit for a change Thank you for 🤗💖🇬🇧👍👍👍👍👍
So glad you posted this today. I made some earlier but you would need a jack hammer to eat my caramel. Cannas wait to see what I did wrong. We are all busy spooking the chocolate and shortbread part and putting the concrete caramel part in the bin. 😂😂😂😂😂 . Ma poor wee jaws are aching and I only had 1 piece !!!!!
Looks so good. Will have to try this. The only problem I seem to see is where to find the golden syrup. I'll either have to order off Amazon or maybe try one of the speciality grocery stores. Sadly that will have to wait till all the craziness goes away side the speciality grocery store is about 40 miles away.
This looks divine!! ❤ For the amount it'd be perfect to share, sadly I'm working from home these days and can't bring them to work to share 😢 But definitely a spirit lift during these difficult times! ❤ Thanks for the recipe and stay safe! xx p.s. the audio is fine! 😊
Hi Cheryl, thanks for this video! I have a question- for the base, it doesn’t crumble to a breadcrumb texture, it just kind of looks gloopy. Is it possible I’m not rubbing the mixture enough? Thanks! X
HI pet......messaging from Fife. Can I ask 2 questions please. When you say you can use a food processor for the base...which blade is best? And also, I use two 12nch x 9 inch tins because they have an inset that cuts each square perfectly, so happy to keep using that. But can you advise how I would adjust the recipe please. Thank you very much and hope you are keeping well. xx
I used to make this, could not get castor sugar way back then ! So I had a bright idea to put reg sugar in food processor ! Now your saying it does not matter !! We can get fine sugar here now, also SELF RISING flour .....your recipe is better! You make it easy ! My recipe took 2 pages !! LOL
Good grief, we have to stop this shelter in place thing or we're all going to weigh 300 pounds before it's all done! This looks great and easy. Actually I'm trying to share all my baking, spreading the calories around! Thanks for the recipe.

My grandmother was Irish, and my, do I find the brogue, though Scottish, comforting. I return each day for my "fix", and for this, my eternal thanks!

Oh yeah ~ that’s what I’m talking about 🤗♥️
Looks amazing. Hopefully I have condensed milk coming with my shopping next week. I have been craving caramel shortbread for a week and a half!
Oh! And if I omit the golden syrup, will it affect the way the caramel set? Thanks! xx
Hi Cheryl , my wife likes the Scottish shortbread , we hope you are all well from Jackie
Dear God they look delicious 🤤
So glad i found your channel ☺️ When this isolation is over, pretty sure I’ll be 5 stone heavier 😂 🏴
Hi Cheryl, thanks for this video! I have a question- for the base, it doesn’t crumble to a breadcrumb texture, it just kind of looks gloopy. Is it possible I’m not rubbing the mixture enough? Thanks! X
That looks so yummy and decadent!!! 😋😋
But I think I missed a step...when do I add the broccoli?? 😂😂
It came out amazing!!!! Thank you so much. I hope you're doing well as well. 💛

Random I know, but do you recall where you got your tin from? That looks a perfect size for my purposes and it looks sturdy too.
Random question but I’d love to know the size of your glass prep bowls? Esp the brown sugar/sea salt/ sugar size bowls!
When you tear off your parchment, “bunch it up” and it’s much easier to fit into the pan you want it in. 😉
Cheryl, do you think I could use honey instead of syrup?
Unable to get flour at the shops, as it is completely sold out, could you use digestive biscuit for the base instead?
Thank you.....
Where did you get flour? can't find it anywhere
That was worth waiting for Cheryl. Well done you!!!!
Hi Cheryl, you forgot to say to fork prick the base before cooking, although it is obviouse to anyone who cooks, but not to a newbie. xxx
Competition announcement 10 lucky winners are going to dinner and pudding at Mrs whats for tea haha
@TheRenaissanceman65 Indeed :(
Yeah the music is a bit loud. Can still hear u but it's like a competition.😉
How do you get cubed butter?
Hi Cant seem to be able to print out recipe. Can you advise. thanks
In some places they are cut into triangles.
LOL
💖
Good grief, we have to stop this shelter in place thing or we're all going to weigh 300 pounds before it's all done! This looks great and easy. Actually I'm trying to share all my baking, spreading the calories around! Thanks for the recipe.
Actually, if you break it first all the calories escape!! At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!! lol. Have a great weekend, keep safe.
I became seriously concerned when I saw the broccoli
If you crumple up your grease proof paper into a ball then you lay it into your tray it doesn’t spring out as much 😬
I thought granulated sugar & castor sugar was one & the same?
caster sugar is much finer in texture but in a lot of recipes since you're going to melt/beat it anyway so usually it's interchangeable :)
Sooking not spooking 🤪🤪
Audio is fine. As Dr. Evil would say in the Austin Powers movies that short bread is worth One Billion Dollars! Muhahahaha!
I've tried making my own caramel but have botched it both times. I think the pan I use doesn't help as it's cheap rubbish from Wilko.
Music was ok for me
