Great video. I really hope they find a suitable buyer, strong brand and many good people which just need strong leadership. My concern is the possibility of Private Equity investment, quite common in these situations and the track record of PE retaining strong brands is poor at best
Thank you Ross, I appreciate it 🙏🏻 That is a very good point on the private equity investment front. Do you have any good examples where this has happened detrimentally?

@@rossstewart5363 This is excellent! Thank you! This list reads like an obituary list 💀 I didn't realise their demise was the result of private equity investment.
@@TraumaTeamRacing Certainly two sides to everything, but retaining brands does not appear top of PE priority. If Fanatec holds assets other than its Brand I would be concerned about them being stripped for parts
Moza, SimMagic, SimCube buying Fanatec out not only would let them get rid of a major competitor. It would give them access to PlayStation licenses, patents and place them ahead of all the competition. One of the reasons why Fanatec wheels cost so much is brand recognition from PS support. But! Big But, Corsair owns Fanatec trademarks and potentially some IP rights. Which could potentially have multitude of implications, depending on what IP they own and the clasues in the contract. It could deter other investors. Corsair have place themselves well ahead in the fight. High chance we will see Corsair at least as Majority shareholder, if not owner or co-owner. Corsair will have the last say in this. For consumers, it would be of best interest that Fanatec won’t be eaten up by Logitech or Thrustmaster . But by brands that have no PS eco system, as that would bring more competition to the segment .
The Corsair trademarks are an issue and would almost certainly mandate a buy out for any other party interested. I agree for brands that are not in the PS eco system the temptation of acquisition must be pretty alluring, counterpointed by the masses of debt of course 🫠
I really like the Fanatec stuff, but it is a locked ecosystem and it is no secret they are in a spot of bother. As a new consumer I would hold off until the dust settles if you wish to pursue a Fanatec purchase. Just my two cents.
Omg "my"voice is hilarious! 😂 Thanks for answering my question. I've been thinking I should wait a bit and it helps to hear the same opinion. Your Fanatec videos have been very informative, I've subscribed.
You are most welcome! Glad I was able to provide some insight 💪🏻 Thank you for the kind words, good luck with your future purchase and welcome to TTR 🫡
For PC users, there might be equal or better products out there, but for PS5, there are no real alternatives, IMHO. I bought a DD+ Extreme a couple months ago and am happy with the purchase. Various people have expressed the opinion that it's risky to buy Fanatec products right now (or for the past few months). But honestly, it's extremely unlikely the company will go under. Somebody is going to buy it, Corsair has been interested in buying it for a long time, for example. Thomas Jackermeier desperately tries to get control back by bringing in new investors, as well. Now we're hearing about 30 different investors! So really, where's the risk? I don't see it.
I agree with you. I think it is very unlikely (not 100% mind) that the company will go under. It is going to be an interesting couple of months but I believe that the odds are stacked in Fanatec's favour.
It does not matter who buys Fanatec. They have given themselves a stigma surrounding the brand that will never go away. Bad business practices to the customers that made the company thrive. Too much of a product range that confuses buyers and pricing that affects a buyers decision.
It is a tricky one. I really enjoy my Fanatec products but even as a user I find it hard to ignore all of the peripheral issues. It's going to be very interesting watching this company moving forward.
Can't see Fanatec being brought out by the completion, the sim racing companies are small time players when it comes to tech companies, pretty sure Asus, Corsair, MSI, Coolmaster etc. wouldn't mine some Fanatec branding. I could see ASUS ROG sim racing products, but still carrying the Fanatec branding. My thoughts, but the Chinese have deep pockets
I think you make a good point. Although it is fun to think about 🤔 I think Corsair is a high possibility given their current ownership of all the patents 👀 It will be a wild ride regardless of what happens 😅
I hope corsair gets the company. I believe that would be best for Fanatec and us consumers. Corsair makes top of the line products and i believe that would continue with Fanatec if they were to purchase the company.
It would definitely be reassuring if a big company made the acquisition with existing infrastructure to get things rolling straight out of the gate 💪🏻 The last thing we need is a company fresh to the space.
Fanatec been ripping people off for years and there customer service is a Joke, very arrogant company, who’s arrogance has probably been there demise, I mean ffs who puts a racing track ion the roof of your HQ, what a joke.
Excellent question, here are a few that come to mind: ‣ Existing consumers (of which there are many). ‣ New consumers who prefer the idea of Fanatec to other options (they do exist). ‣ Those who like the idea of the Fanatec compatibility with Playstation and Xbox (I am aware other options are available). ‣Those with financial interest. ‣The 30 companies mentioned in the video looking to invest. ‣The shareholders. ‣Thomas Jackermeier 😉
People like me, I want a DD extreme for my PS5 and gt7, I know there's ways around it, but I don't want to have to buy adapters and hope they work, and I just wanna plug something in and know it's gonna work
Fanatech has always had good reliable products that would last for years and years. I believe they just need new management fresh capital to move the company forward.
Can’t see anyone buying Fanatec. Fanatec are behind the curve on everything right now. IMHO no one should buy Fanatec as a company for that reason. Moreover, the brand is ruined. So many haters, so many people burned by bad products bad service. So the only reason to buy them is if the underlying manufacturing capability is useful. Perhaps to a Logitech or Asetek….
I think you are underestimating the potential here. I would be very surprised if they were to disappear for good. I think for the right company they are an attractive acquisition.
@@Dronetothetop I also, have had no issues with my gear and have been happily running by DD2 since day 1 without any issues for probably 3 years now. I am also very happy with my 2 wheels, handbrake and shifter 😅
Like I said in another comment someone like me, I'm not expert in this world but I want a DD extreme for my ps5, the fact that I can play gt7 with a wheel that has PS5 controls built into it, we exist
For console users that also use a PC there isn't really another brand that gives you the flexibility to run as many wheel rims etc, which is why I use them. BTW, I am going to be releasing an open source project soon that will allow third party USB devices to be plugged into the fanatec wheelbase without modification to device or wheelbase. It will open up the platform to third party shifters and handbrakes. I already have it working for my simlab handbrake and pro-sim shifter so I can use those with the PS5 :)
