I buy food when it's cheap, and I have about 10 pkgs of bacon, around 8 dozen eggs, and a ton of rice. So glad to find awesome recipes like this!

I learned this recipe in junior high school cooking class. The only difference is we added bell pepper as well. This is such a versatile recipe. I use cabbage, leeks, chili peppers. Whatever I have on hand.

Great recipe! I fixed it for dinner tonight. It was a big hit with my wife! Rather than using regular bacon, I used ends and pieces of bacon which costs less. The meat is more in chunks which makes it easier to leave out a bit more of the fat. We will fix this again!

Years ago I worked a before-the-dawn shelf stocking job and for our 'lunch' break we all wanted to eat breakfast of course. That is when a Korean coworker introduced me to breakfast fried rice. I tried it out on my very American hubby and he was not a fan (for breakfast). However, when I served it to him for dinner it was no problem of course. Hahaha. All your versions of fried rice are beautifully plated and look so appetizing. Thank you for helping us save money and feed our families well, Flo and Dude.

This is how my Mom showed me how to make her famous fried rice, too. Her base ingredients were always eggs, onions, bacon, but you can add any other ingredients that you like. I like to add shrimp, or sometimes even Spam. Bean sprouts also adds a nice crunch. The secret is to cook the rice fast.

I make this exact recipe (minus the oyster sauce!) And sometimes, I will make fresh rice amd if I am too excited to wait a day for the cold rice, I will lay it out on a cookie sheet and stick it in the freezer for about 45 minutes and Viola! Cold and ready rice!

Hey Flo and Dude, I love your channel! I grew up eating Chinese food, it was the high point of visiting family around NYC. This was the white tablecloth restaurants of the 50s and 60s. When we returned to the Ohio Valley my Mom and I would do our best to recreate dishes we had enjoyed.
Cooking as a family has always been our thing and when my son was born he joined the fun. He grew up thinking everyone made wontons and egg rolls with Gram.
I have a request of you. Could you build an Asian pantry list so that I can make one trip for all the basics I might need and buy fresh ingredients when I choose what I’m going to prepare?
When I found your channel I was so excited, your relaxed approach to food prep makes so much sense, you have shown that good, affordable meals are possible without a huge kitchen and with basic tools.
Keep doin’ what you’re doin’, it’s all good

Fried rice with eggs is really one of the best and cheap ways to prepare a great dish. Very often you have small amounts or leftovers of food such as vegetables, mushrooms or leftover meat that can be used with. Since you are also using rice from the day before this is a dish that can only be heated on a single burner. I will look for more dishes that you prepare this way. Thanks for showing.

Dude keeps my knives sharp by regularly sharpening them and gives them a pass on the sharpening rod about once every couple of weeks. If he had it his way, I should be running them over the sharpening rod every single time I use them. But you know… I can’t be bothered. 😆

I make basically the same recipe for breakfast sometimes when I have leftover rice. But, I usually cube up some low sodium Spam and throw that in instead of the bacon (always think about Dude and his love of Spam LOL). I will have to give it a go with bacon sometime, as that looks so good!
That is a big Wok! Did you get it at the Wok Shop in San Francisco when you lived there? I follow Grace Young (Wok Guru and author), and she's always talking about the Wok Shop in SFR. Would love to visit it someday.
