I'm having a migraine attack that started yesterday and last night I watched the movie about Christian and this movie "Born Free" today (both) brought me to tears - hoping to cry the tension out.
My mom made me watch this during the 6 week school holiday break we have in the UK. I was very young around 7-8yrs old. This movie was like a right of passage for me and it enforced a huge weight of emotional empathy and compassion in a very short amount of time. When we are growing up we go through language explosions as our brains are developing and this was one of those over night transformations. This is why my mom made me watch Born Free. I also read and watched Watership Down around the same time. At home I was surrounded by 4 dogs and a cat. My life would of been quite different if I had not watched this beautiful documentary. It changed me and taught me compassion and love for these beautiful animals.
It did happen in reality. This is a true story. Elsa was a real lion and Joy and George Adamson were real people who experienced retraining their domesticated lioness back into the wild.
I saw this & thought oh no outside of The Literal Garden of Eden there’d be no animals eating animals. But I kinda found it a bit funny when Elsa spotted the warthog & went after it not having any idea that the warthog wasn’t gonna take her trying to take it out! Look out Elsa this warthog is gonna give you a piece of her mind & numerous times too! Wow! Guess you didn’t bargain for that? Huh. Take this & this & this repeatedly til warthog sensed Elsa got the picture. Don’t be messing with me!
@silenroc23 I was dreaming how all the kids were taken from school to the cinema to watch this movie and how much we enjoyed it. I was in the middle school back in Ceylon then, now Sri Lanka. John Barry's music and Mat Monro"s singing add perfection to this movie.
I saw the film on TV a few years ago, in German, of course, I unfortunately can't, neither understand nor speak English. I've been looking for this film in German for a few days. So far, the search has been unsuccessful.
Kinda sad, having to leave Elsa for a week and move camp, all in the hopes of making her a free lioness. It's like the old saying; having to be cruel to be kind. To be honest, though, it seems more cruel than kind. If it were any other lion/lioness, they'd never survive after being tame for so long...
I like elsa and all, but I think it is kind of horrible how she showed such favoritism toward that specific lion, its like she didnt care about the other at all. although I LOVED the warthog part xD
THANK YOU. You have helped me rewatch this from elsamare.GOD BLESS YOU
