I'm not a huge fan of this Lava Red interior trim, but I think this XC40 is a great new vehicle from Volvo.
J High I agree. I ordered mine without that lava interior.
It's actually orange. If it was red I'd actually like it lol. Makes me mad you can't get the red leather seats with the r design models.

I'm new here.👍Started to look for reviews about XC40 and i found your channel.I'm glad i did.Really like your reviews.Not only because you explain a lot about cars specially Volvo but because you also interact with your followers and maintain a familiar connection sort of speaking with us.
It's not only about showing and testing cars and goodbye see you soon.No.It's showing your family, friends (that Christmas video at your appartment i believe)your daily life,your trips,landscapes,places where you stop to buy coffee or eat,that bar in Oslo that you recommended can't remember name now but i will definitely visit it when i'll go to Oslo,all those details...and with such a grace and complicity...you're a great communicator.
I ordered a XC40.All options available including four-c suspension,20" wheels,etc.And i will later on buy Polestar software improvement at my dealership to add a few horses in it ☺
"For now"(in August to be more precise 😉)it's 190 hp on a D4 AWD R-design.
I could have easily bought XC60 R-Design same engine less equipment but i think XC40 handles better.And with 20 wheels and four-c for sure it will add more grip.And XC40 it's more sportier look,outside and inside.XC60 more for couples with children more classic car but i also agree more refined.Even so i prefer the sportier side.If you ask me if money could stretch,if i would have gone for XC90,of course i would even if i would consider Audi or BMW also.
But between XC60 and XC40 i prefer the second one.I ordered in Osmium grey i hope it will stand out.

I do try to do things a bit different, and vlog in my own style :) I really appreciate it! Yes, I also like to the XC40 a lot, and it does handle very well, but I also like the XC60 too! Getting a fully loaded XC40, or an XC60 with some options is always a hard one! As I've said in my videos, If you're doing many miles and that at high speed, get the XC60 - if not, get the XC40. Both are still brilliant. Hi kris ,I am kelvin from Malaysia , found your video as seraching for review on this new volvo XC40 , I am impress with how you decsriped and explained on the car . I also watch a lot of review from U.K , U.S.A , Canada , even Germany , all have good words on this car .In Malaysia , this new Volvo XC40 not launch yet , the news is we will get it on Aug 18 . I don't know the price and what kind of spec we will get but I already make the booking . Malaysia will get the fully imported batch from sweden first , and will start local production from Jan 2019 , and yes , for those who maybe don't know , Volvo have local manufacturing plant in Malaysia ..I have decided to follow your opinion to get the R Design Gas petrol type instead of diesel engine type , only now to consider if want to choose the white or the blue color , also if want the so call laval color trim .Cheers.

This is the R Design PRO right (20 inch alloys not 18 as per standard R Design). What other differences are there between the 2? All I can see is the alloy size, Winter pack (heated seats, windscreen etc), the self cleaning wipers and the self bending lights? want to know before I chose either one :) thanks all

Yes I did forget! Not that's a holder for parking permits etc.

seppo nurmi I agree. And Kris is a very honest guy. He said in one of his videos if you're driving almost inside city get XC40.That is precisely my case. I rarely drive on highway.Maybe six in six months maybe a little bit less but it's just a few times per year.At least for now...no one knows the future right?) My life can change and make me want to get a XC60 for family highway travels etc.For now XC40 all the way! 👉😎👌

So sad it does not have an option of Head up display while almost all competitors in class do...
I don't get the hype for this car. Its just ok externally- internally and drives fine but nothing you dont see in other similar priced compact SUVs.

The XC60 is a better car than XC40. I think the XC40 is too expensive in terms of what it gets. What caused me the most is that you have put plastic film patterns on the dashboard and after the doorways. I was with my dad and first tested XC40 and a few days later XC60. Dad said that the XC60 feels more robust and hosts his money and I agree with him. Furthermore, there was a lot more extra you can order for Xc60 than you can for XC40. It also turned out to be cheaper to buy XC60 than the XC40 would cost, a whole hundred thousand Swedish kronor. So it is in Sweden. In addition, the Volvo XC40 launches as a youth car, in Sweden, no youth is least interested in it. In Sweden, there are 50+ buyers who are interested.
Ingvar Törmä i agree with you. XC60 is a more refined more solid car more robust. But it's not such a big distance from XC40.Price is almost the same.I ordered a XC40.I am waiting it.With all available options.I could easily buy XC60 but i think XC40 is more sportier more modern more fun to drive.And because i drive most in the city(i don't drive big distances,big trips)i have no kids yet,it's just me and my girlfriend, i think xc40 (!for now!) is the best option for me.But i do like XC60 also a lot.And XC90...well i like all the SUV range from volvo😎👍
I do not know which country you live in and how the price is there. But Pappas XC60 was 100,000 Swedish kronor cheaper than XC40. Then in April when we tested XC40, you said to Volvo, you're paying an XC40 so you'll have to wait until 2019 sometime before you get it. When Volvo got the day on the bed so to speak, they did not expect there to be so many orders of it. I hope you enjoy and have fun with your car when it comes.

I'm from belgium ordered my xc40 and need to wait till the end of april 2019 to get it 😢 but prices range from 30.500€ to +45.000€ en then you get in xc60 numbers
1. Too expensive compared to XC60
2. Only dark interior available, even when with bedge seats. A SEA of dark plastick is not nice :(
Everything else is ok.
Decent SUV but overpriced! Somebody in one of the forums compared it to the Skoda Kodiaq considering this car for his wife. And this Volvo simply lost being similarly equipped with tech toys, with similar comfort and ride quality as well as performance (not sure which engine version it was) . Skoda clearly provides more comfort at rear seats with their adjustments capabilities.
This rises a big question (not first time): do premium brands still make sense as as the low end/mid models are concerned?
I disagree. Test drove the car , and the infotainment /sensus is very dangerous. Very distracting to turn on/off the radio, air con, ... Won't buy this car.
I have the S90 - the infotainment system is not distracting at all...you can use voice prompts, too. A test drive is not long enough to get used to it. I have CarPlay, so I can listen to texts, make calls, etc without having to even look or touch the screen (Siri). If I want the seat or steering wheel heaters on, I just tap the voice button on the steering wheel and say "seat heater on"...bam
You might want to take a course in elocution and diction. Look it up.
I might look more into that :)
