Fantastic job Jen. You are so natural on camera and you put us all at ease. Wonderful information - can't wait to see the rest. Winnie is so lucky to be your baby. In case I haven't said it before - thank you for being so open with us and letting us into your life. You have helped me so much and I'm sure many others feel the same way.
I just love how she looks at you... Soooooooooooo cute!! Winnie is so lucky to have someone who loves her so, so much. You can tell she adores you too. Thanks for sharing, Jen!
I have three Lhasa Apsos in full coat (I did have four until recently!) and I too love Crown Royale products. I dilute my shampoo and conditioner 14:1 and 20:1 respectively as directed on the bottles. They are the nicest smelling dog grooming products of all. Just adore Winnie and love the way she lets you do anything with her. Mine all try to jump off the table etc and have the bands out of their hair or at least well messed up within minutes of having them done LOL.
Thank you so much for your videos. Ive watched a lot of them and your series is real and you are very clear with your descriptions, especially the feet and nail areas... hard to do items. I agree with you 100% on puttting the money into good sizzors. These items make the work easier and last forever. I use hair poly hair ties by scunci, they come in colored and clear and are found in Wallgreens, CVS etc in the girls hair stuff area. Many for a few bucks, and little or no hair damage.
thank you for your wonderfull posts, they are so helpfull. I have a miniature poodle and am getting our new havinies pupy in 2 weeks time so we will have our hands full of combing! your posts are great!
Love your video. Convex shears refer to the edge of the blade not the tip. What you are looking for is called blunt tipped. I love your grooming station! I'm super envious
I have crown royal products in my shop for dogs who have problem coats that need more of a pick-me-up, and I love it! I use my doub duck shears all the time, I love the curved stop style and use them daily for feet and ears. My favorite shears though are by Kenchii
Wow, thank you this is really helpful :)! I like the larger comb for the whole body. Visited the Chris Christensen site, I love everything on there... So true, about quality scissors.
Awe she is so sweet! I can see you pay a lot of attention to your little Winnie and of course she deserves it!:) I wish u could see the condition my dog is in!! BAD grooming so NOW I'm trying to teach myself how to groom him. He has had one horrific butch job, he's been hurt and NOW he's AFRAID of the groomers! Funny he has no issue with the vet who actually does have to cause a little pain as in shots etc & he loves his vet! So frustrated. Your videos R fantastic!! Thnks!
Thanks Jen, this video has been so helpful to me...as I am getting my very first little girl Shih tzu in 7 weeks! Thanks to you I will be much prepared for her arrival. I plan to keep her in a long, all natural coat swell! Thanks : -) Jennifer K~
Hi Winnie, here are Rosalie, i'm 5 month and i'm too an Shih Tzu. I Iife with my mommy Kerstin in Berlin (Germany). We have see your videos and my mommy is now a big fan from you and your mommy. Every day we have seen your videos and have learn a lot of things and you helped us much. Winnie you are so sweety! We like you and your super mommy! Thank you a lot and bye bye!!!! Sorry my english is ......!?
All the money you've spent on your grooming tools is still honestly much better than spending $50+ a month on a groomer which is what I have done for my little girl, she's 10 now and I started trying to groom her myself but its hard bec she doesn't stay still since I havent done it all her life. You have done amazing with Winnie and her training and grooming! xo Michele
another very informative video Jen.. i send Max out to the groomers to get trimmed ( all he gets done are his nails, feet and bottom) I bathe him etc before he goes - he loves his bath and i don't want that to stop ...thinking i may start to groom him depending on how hard/easy it looks as your series continues thanks again, corrie aka uglybobswife
Jen, What is the grooming mat like? Iv not found anything like it in the UK, but they do do microfibre shower/bathroom mats like that. Id just like you to know, Iv got lots more grooming equipment for my dog, following your example. Iv yet to get the triangular brush but I have seen them here. Iv got a comb but may need to get another. Iv got about 5 new pieces. Thank you so much from my dog and me, we're loving your series and we are both benefiting from your wonderful videos.
This was fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing such great info. I'm excited for the grooming series. Debating whether or not I can afford the scissors, since I don't groom my dog, but do maintain her privates. :) Would love to see a Winnie's treats/food/feeding video? Hope it's not to presumptuous to ask. Thanks again!
Hello from Tropical Darwin at the top of Australia. I think your videos are fantastic. Thank you. I had two Shih Tzus for 15years so I can relate. I said no more BUT , along came a Lost Lhasa Apso ( found her home then the owner gave her to me) and a homeless chihuaua, both very very different to tzu's in nature...... If only your vids. had been around then .......
thank you very much for sharing the information on grooming products that you like you like. You did not show or talk about the grooming pillow that i have seen you use. I would like to know where you purchased it and what size?
Which kind coat does she have. Mine looks like yours. 6 lbs same color. Its cotton but full coat and i brush and groom daily. Trying to get diff products
Hello Miss Jen and Winnie: I own a little 8 month old shih-tzu "Yue Ying". I have never owned a shih-tzu before, so I thank you for all the wonderful info you've posted on grooming... Now I do have a question and hopefully you can help me... How do I effectively remove set in tear stains?? So far I've tried "Crystal Eyes" and "Martha Stewart Tear Stain Remover" and nothing. I've done both products for two weeks and nothing... Any suggestions??
It's so funny @(18:18). Winnie heard the noise of the blueberries hitting the bottle and she turned around immediately and kept sniffing and staring at the bottle hoping her mama Jen will give her some bones. :)
+Arthur Louis I am looking for the best Stainless Scissors, with perfect size to hold with sharp blades and easy to operate smoothly. One of my friend recommended me to have it from goo.gl/tbJUnO .. Kindly have a visit and give your reviews … Thanks!!!
I have a shih Tzu and she has the double coat ,real fluffy and thick. I need to find something that will hhelp her hair not look so dry. I also have a beautiful man he has long silky hair nothing like my girl. can u give me some advice tks Debbi
THANKS JEN! Glad I waited to order from the first time I watched this video. All Cherrybrooks brushes and combs are 20% off (code APRILBRUSH). It saved me $25 and got free shipping!
And guys dont spend money on shears in fact the more high quality the shears are the more dangerous ! High quality shears are very sharp and if you miss you wont get a second chance with little cheaper shears if you miss you wont cut the skin ^.^ for exemple high quality poodle shears could cut like butter on your dog skin >.< sorry just dont want a doggy to get hurt
Kish9440: There are so many other sites out there that have great deals, just a few; PetEdge.com, Ryan's.com, or Groomer's.com, anyone can order from these sites they have wholesale pricing, and pretty good shipping deals. Not sure they carry Chris Christiensen, but there are lots of other NICE supplies out there, and they don't cost an arm & a leg ;)
you used your brushes that much over 6 month only on your own dog ? :o that's not normal honey at the salon our brushes last almost forever and we do ALOTE of dogs ! Go on petedgeg next time you need to buy some Master Grooming Tools brand they will last you much much longeur and they are has good and cheaper in price :D
The coats differ because of their diet, genetics and overall immune health. Dogs who are fed a lot of processed foods tend to be... umm, how should I put this... lifeless. As opposed to a dog who's fed real foods. If you dog is fed a good diet, you shouldn't need to do all what you do. I'd love to see this petite sweet thing ripping into a RMB, lol Brush is a little dirty? lol and one every year and one slicker brush lasts you 6 months?!? OMG, Are you kidding me, no way! Wow, I bought a $4 one at it's been in my hot little hands for 6 years and I've used this one on the 5 puppies and our new boy for the past year, so I guess your $36 brush must be good because her coat looks so good, right. lol GFM What's in the products, natural ingredients? "Show Off" ..What are the ingredients? Our dogs teeth get cleaned every day which they don't use any toothbrushes or toxic tooth pastes. Shampoo; biotin is supposed to thicken hair, so I guess that's a must. Allantoin is a chemical which your dog doesn't need. Lightened shampoo? What are the ingredients to that I wonder. Try making her some treats, this way you know whats in them. Our lot love jerky, easy to make and all natural. Thanks for your vid
The genuine love you have for Winnie really shows in all the care you take with her! She's spoiled well (not rotten).

My Lhasa apso is the same colouring as Winnie, I am in the process of growing her hair, I hope she looks as pretty as Winnie when she has a full coat
How did it work out?
Hello Miss Jen and Winnie:

Winnie sure perked up when you showed the tweats.

7:52 If you are looking for a nice way to talk about her butt, my groomer refers to such parts as the "sanitary areas" .. XD

You don't want to rip your dogs hair out.

All of those products have a ton of Chemicals! You are spending way to much on her brushes for them to fall apart that quickly.
