I am a semi truck driver with my husband. WE DON'T RISK ANYTHING!!!! We don't touch our phones, we don't continue to drive at the first sign of exhaustion....Because it's an 80,000lbs weapon coming down the road and you NEVER risk your life, or the lives of those driving with you on the road. When a truck driver falls asleep he/she causes a crash they deserve to lose their license PERIOD. As a team driver, when one drives the other sleeps, and vis versa. We understand the severity of semi truck driver negligence. That's why many companies install cameras in the cabin of the truck, to make sure their company driver isn't distracted by their cell phone, or anything else. I'm so sorry for this family.

A Son a Mom and Dad could be so proud of.The world would be a happier place if the cell phone was banned while driving. i send prayers and condolences to you all. RIP sweet boy. i hope God is taking care of you now. Mom and Dad..i see the heartbreak on your faces and i wish you had your Son with you. The Dad is trying his best to stay strong for his wife and true love, but it must be so difficult to even do this interview.
I watched this video today and found myself getting emotional on my couch. I am so sorry for your loss and the losses of everyone else involved in the crash. I am a speaker against distracted driving in Chicago and just shake my head as I see almost everyone on their cell phone on the road - texting at stop lights, etc. It is a huge battle but we can definitely not give up because there are those few that will change. Thank you for sharing your story...
DON’T DRIVE DISTRACTED !!! If you are sleepy or are feeling sleepy stay in a hotel or pull over into a parking lot or on the side of the road or highway until you feel awake again , that is what that truck driver should have done ! Whoever you are Truck Driver YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED !
We have all driven tired. It can sneak up on you almost without notice. And we don't know the circumstances behind what led up to it. Did the truck driver feel pressured by his employer to make his destination by a certain time? We don't know. I'm sure this guy is living in his own personal hell every day.
i feel like an idiot for having to ask, but y'all never explained the cause you are wanting us to join. is it a cause for giving truckers better training? is it a cause for sleep deprivation behind the wheel? Please explain or i'll keep coming up with bogus cause's.
I worked with Doug and it breaks my heart every time I think of this terrible tragedy. Please, Please don’t drive distracted.
I feel your pain as my son passed away recently. The pain is truly always there. I worked with Doug. He and Sherri are wonderful people.
