He was pretty damn great in 2011. He has made incredible progress since then, though. In 2018 he is on another planet technically, harmonically and melodically.
Per, if you are reading this. please please please be my guitar techer. i love your style, tone, phrasing and melodies. The best thing that's happened to guitar besides IA and Marty in a looooooong time. =)
people who say sausage fingers hold them back clearly have not seen per's fingers, he has FAT fingers and hes probably one of the cleanest metalers around...
@slazzer443 i was talking bout the Holographic Universe, which i believe is actually played in drop a, unlike the otehrs which are in b standard, i could be wrong though
Does anyone know the guitar gear Per used in the intro song (guitar, pickups and string gauge mainly)? I love the guitar sound - it reminds me of Jens Johansson and Alex Argento.
The Am7 string skipping/tapping lick is from Paul Gilbert, at least I'd seen him play it ages back, but without tapping because well he is Paul Gilbert. But then Per took it one step further and that's what music is about, for me.
per is more fluid and and occasionally throws in some jazz alternate scales which andy isn't comfortable with . That said I haven't seen a solo album from per and andy can play practically anything by all the greats. I'd love to see a band with both of them . Now that would be insane!
im looking for the instructions for how to play the second solo of artificial sun projection, ¬¬ the fuck, que dificil es encontrarlo ¬¬, but scar symmetry rules ;)
Okay all of the tapping techniques he just showed me... Blew me away. I don't find most of the GM tutorials to be that useful. All of this stuff can be used all of the time.
KøDSnaPs - Right on. Poland wins the Battle of Fluidity. The greats are often measured by their instantly recognizable signature sound. Chris Poland is one of the true greats - still around and probably playing the best he ever has. Tone,Tecnique,Talent. He has it all. Not to say that Marty dosent have his moments. But Chris leaves you hanging on every note and wanting more.
Did i said something about the way he plays or he's a bad guitar player? Im telling you that as a guitar player myself, i think a player has to be complete and not only technique ,fast licks and guitar "madness2And your wrong i love christians work in Necrophagist but i think you did not read my comment.
Im trying to be objective because i didnt know this guy until today. After watching a muenzer impro in A aolian i realized that he's very skilled technically speaking, but knows a little aboput rythim and impro,,and andy james is very skilled as well but everything sounds like an excercise so that is a lack of good phrasing...Listening to this guy(fir the first time) he has a lot more expression and ebven know it is pretty much the same style it sounds more like music, not just a scale or pattern
A decade later and I still come back to these videos
He was pretty damn great in 2011.
He has made incredible progress since then, though.
In 2018 he is on another planet technically, harmonically and melodically.
griiseknoen You think so? We haven't seen much of him in the last few years.
He refined his voice.
Hector Dominguez Newer than Singularity phase 1? 😳 Didn’t know he toured with Meshuggah. That’s awesome. 👍🏻
Hector Dominguez 👍🏻🤘🏻
@@UlfhedinnNorsk watch any of his recent vids for proof
I would agree 100% to this statement. Per just makes the most insane solos.
This is such a cool technique. Per and Guthrie are masters of string skipped tapping.
They have both different, unique and awesome styles of playing.
With me its not that Per is super flashy with his licks, what I love is his solo structures and phrasing. Awesome guitar player he deserves more due
Love this band. Soooo much.
This guy is a friggin legend!
@JoshuaCollinsTV It comes in black as well, and the RG1527 has a trem too. It's just a guess though...
+James Morrison
yea defenitly. i love how clean he is with all this distortion. another example, you dont need to look far is shawn lane.
Itzack Perlman has sausage fingers as well.
That looks like a 27 inch scale. Helps the Sausage finger problem a bit in some ways.
I don't think he would get above 10th fret on a Gibson.
Billy Arsenault thats a 25.5 (648mm) scale.
Same with Michael Romeo of Symphony X
@slazzer443 i was talking bout the Holographic Universe, which i believe is actually played in drop a, unlike the otehrs which are in b standard, i could be wrong though
What a genius player he is.
LOVE THIS MAN
this prism and gate is so cool !!!
@Alexkvx10 Ah figured it out, Noumenon and Phenomen from the Dark Matter Dimensions album for those who are wondering aswell

THIS IS PERTINENT TO MY INTERESTS
THIS IS VERY PERTINENT TO MY INTERESTS
Does anyone know the guitar gear Per used in the intro song (guitar, pickups and string gauge mainly)? I love the guitar sound - it reminds me of Jens Johansson and Alex Argento.
@DarkFottloch he plays in b standard
@Mifumetal I´d like to see Andy James on GM
Seers of the Eschaton is his best solo.
I argue for Neohuman or for shreddy goodness Neuromancers (basically his Tornado of Souls)
god.. perfect timing man.
The smoothness of his solos reminds me of Reb Beach sometimes.
Trapezoid is, I think, the greatest metal solo ever recorded.
Lol he and Andy James look so similar
@D D As much as I love Andy too, Per's playing is far more interesting to me
which song is the beginning solo (the intro to the video) from?? Sorry, I'm a scar symmetry n00b
Noumenon and Phenomenon
Whats the song at the start? is it a Scar Symmetry song or just a little demonstration?
Thanks man! Gave me some epic tips!!
I didn't know Michael C Hall played guitar.
He looks nothing like him.
@MorganRNReid thanks!
wheres his neck pickup?
Prism and Gate finally! I always wanted to see how the first part of the solo was played but no one on youtube has a cover. Too hard maybe? :O
What is the intro song?
opening solo!! which song??!?!?!?
I love this band, keep rocking. :D
what is the song at the start of the vid?
What Ibanez is he using in this vid?
viking guitar master\,,/
How did you become so fast??
Noumenon and Phenomenon :)
Can I still buy this?
... Is there a reason he doesn't have a neck pickup...?
Dat 7 string Ibanez, I want one so badly
The Am7 string skipping/tapping lick is from Paul Gilbert, at least I'd seen him play it ages back, but without tapping because well he is Paul Gilbert. But then Per took it one step further and that's what music is about, for me.
Originally from Steve vai
We were discussing about them
He favors the the bridge pickup, he so smooth he doesnt need the neck pickup...
per is more fluid and and occasionally throws in some jazz alternate scales which andy isn't comfortable with . That said I haven't seen a solo album from per and andy can play practically anything by all the greats. I'd love to see a band with both of them . Now that would be insane!
Chris Poland is very smooth aswell! ;)
@The0fail0wears0prada Noumenon and Phenomenon from Dark Matter Dimensions
Per deserves a signature Ibanez!
He just got a signature strandberg :p
I saw it on facebook. Looked cool but i'd keep the swirl as an ibanez thing.
Yup, he is that awesome
I think he learned the A Major 7 from Herman Ree
wich song its on the intro?
neomenon and phenomenom
lol "obviously i have to practice moron" i chuckled
2:26-2:43 so sweet!
@iExisttt Nounomenon and Phenomenon
6:19 AH THERE IT IS. THE CHRIS MUNZNERY SWEEP.
Haha, I have a video up of me doing the exact arpeggios at 2:35. weird.
Anyone know which Ibanez model that is?
Atif Azim , Have the exact same model, same color, it is an old RG7420
It's an RG7620. It has the Edge Lo-Pro trem.
@TechcoreIsSexy
I use a POD X3 live
per nillson got crazyfingers jajajajajaj, i
BEASTS
MONSTER !
im looking for the instructions for how to play the second solo of artificial sun projection, ¬¬ the fuck, que dificil es encontrarlo ¬¬, but scar symmetry rules ;)
His high E string ever so slightly flat and its driving me insane.
Love this fucking channel.
drop a, hell yes
Man i really don't like people who don't use neck pickups =/ but hey Per Nilsson is a beast.
yeah and i chimed in and said the truth :)
Andy James isn`t up there with Per Nilsson!
@extremities9 Me too, he's my hero. Haha.
I cant even get my fingers that far apart!
He looks similar to Andy James and his licks styles are.similar too but not by much.
oh yeah! 0:08 !!!
@BrandonSmith56 Ahaha
@13uddha1993 0:00 for a beautiful gutiar solo !! ^^
Okay all of the tapping techniques he just showed me... Blew me away.
I don't find most of the GM tutorials to be that useful. All of this stuff can be used all of the time.
Yeah, I love his two handed tapping. But Jeff is not a only a shredder, I saw a video of him playing acoustic guitar, too...
Don´t forget about Paul Wadingham :)
andy james.
basically them bald dudes right now are guitar gods.
Simple :)
Does this guy not look exactly like Andy James !!
hahaha i love his accent.. sweeden is awesome
He really looks like andy james.
Amazing technique! Wish the rythums sections were more entertaining.
He's missing a pickup :O!
Lol he looks like a cross between Andy James and the Sauce Boss from epic meal time.
Paul Wardingham dude.
Well Chris Poland is even more Smooth than friedman haha, and Andy james too! But Per Nilsson, definately has a different style of playing :D
KøDSnaPs - Right on. Poland wins the Battle of Fluidity. The greats are often measured by their instantly recognizable signature sound.

nilsson jaja
Ginger beards creep me out! But his playing is awesome!
@BrandonSmith56 Hahahahahahaa
You sound alot like a norwegian guy! But I know you're swedish!
Too short. Goddamnit! Thanks anyway!
Hardly haha
Jeff Loomis. There are tons of great players.
He has mini sausages for fingers
@HarisDT Looks like a badly beat up RG1527....
