Secure Boot Messed UP My Computer

- I did a video recently on how to enable secure boot with an MBR partition. It seems some people tried converting their MBR partition to GPT without a UEFI BIOS. This will of course cause your system not to boot. This video will show you how to fix it.

My man you have got to be the most humble and knowledgeable PC tech I've seen online. Keep up the great work I love all your content! You rock
Thank you. Appreciate it. 👍
How to recover the USB?
@@CyberCPU I turned on uefi secure boot in bios while i was loading a o.s and now no display.i own a dell precision t1700 any help?
He was the wizard of tech!.
But before that, he needs to pay some bill...
😂 man, i love this channel...
Very informative and easy to follow
Happened to me on a new system. It was only one of a few issues I ran into, including of course, a non functional thumbdrive. Had to buy one of those first. I am watching this for your guide as a 'after disaster' breakdown.
I should've paused the video earlier but here now I pause at 7 minutes and 37 seconds, 2 years after this video was created to offer my deepest and most sincerest appreciation and gratitude for you Rich. I'm at the beginning of my tech journey and I've found out fast that if you don't know wth you're doing you have a 6 foot 8 280 lb guy name "Ain't this some Shit" looming around the corner ready to hit you square in the jaw. I didn't perform a backup or anything of course and it's the families computer. I type all this to say I now truly realize that there are moments in life where relief to this level can only be obtained in moments quite like this. You saved a family today sir, and more importantly a young man's buttocks. Thank you so much for real, for making a video like this but even more so for acting upon your decision to make a youtube channel, following through, and staying at it. You really are helping a lot of people.
Thanks man, I really appreciate that.
My Laptop won't boot after following your first video , but following this steps fix it back to normal thanks 👍🏻
That's why I made it. The first video will break a system that does not have a UEFI BIOS. Glad it helped.
Many Thanks!!! You helped me solve many problems, specially for the Hirens Boot CD, supper cool in deed.
MBR2GPT should really have a warning about running it on a boot drive on a non-UEFI BIOS (and probably even prevent it from running unless blatantly overridden).
Want warnings? Buy a ladder.
Thank you worked a treat. All stemmed from malware added to my laptop this week which I'm sure has disabled Windows Update. It's been removed, also the guy got into a few of my social medias sites and went to town on my Instagram account!
I changed boot to uefi but made boot logo look weird so trying every thing your the only guy to have working solution to change back to legacy
Something I always do when I build a computer for a client (or myself for that matter) I always have a second drive where I setup all the folders for the personal info and then I change the docs, images, etc folders to point to that second drive location. That way those files are always there and if you have to reinstall its a simple matter of redirecting those folders back to that drive and all your files are intact and accessable.
Occasionally I'll work on a computer that was originally set up with two partitions. A small one for the operating system and a big one for data. Unfortunately what's typically the case is that the bigger partition is completely empty and the smaller partition is completely full. What I typically do in those cases is wipe out the second partition and then expand the primary partition.
Always have a rescue usb thumb drive, especially if you only have one computer. Even if you only have one USB port, for example on a laptop, the Linux-based System Rescue CD has a boot option which copies the sysrescd OS to RAM while booting so that once booted you can then remove the sysrescd thumb drive and insert a second thumb drive to do backups or to download and extract a different ISO.
You just saved my life the only thing I can find to fix what I did thanks awesome
Thanks for explaining GPT versus MBR in the boot menu.
Ok, Partition magic got me back to MBR but my boot record was still messed up. I found a vid that ran me through some BootREC commands for command promt and that patched up my boot record enough to get my recovery drive to catch. Wow! What an adventure that was. But! I got it back and freed up 65 gigs the last ownder had partitioned. Thank you for the journey.
What is a boor record and how do i know if its messed up?
Thank you man this worked!. It didn't work the first time so my advice don't use a cheap thumb drive they don't have the power to handle this get a decent one and it works. I switched to one of the better thumb drives I already had and it worked like a charm only took 10 sec to load up and I was done in 2 min so thanks again! And I don't care about windows 11 anymore if you have to do all this to get an update then they can keep it!
Did you set the download to gpt?
Great tips! Thank you!
Thank you soo much you really helped me with this. Appreciate this.
It worked man! Thanks alot
Love this channel hehe :)
Real men do not back up - they just cry, very much. :)
Hirens boot CD is also your go to hacking collection.
It can jack windows password, modify registry etc. Great stuff. I am surprised it's not banned yet.
Hirens hasn't been updated since 2012 and doesn't work worth a damn. Plenty of tools are better and actually work. It'll never be banned because it's obsolete.
Secure Boot was put there to lock out better systems. It was bound to cause trouble. Turn it off, and your box is no less secure than one running Win 8. M$ is not interested in producing a system better than the competition. Doing it this way is far easier.
nice job...u certainly know ur stuff
Thanks for your sharing
This video saved my PC! Thank you so much for your tutorials. Simple and extremely informative😁.
>> I believe you missed an edit, Sir -- at 4:20 , I think you were trying to show a link or the video
And also, again thanks for the vid. Really helped cause I was actually looking for something like this since I do installation my own (Experimental-Still learning)
Nice catch. Yes, I forgot to tag the card. It's fixed now. Thanks. 👍
Drinking beer after work, watching your videos and know what? Youre optimistic amigo and Life is Kaif 🍻 so enjoy what you doing! Keep going ❤
I miss Windows... feeling helpless was so much fun!
@CyberCPU Tech If the operation was successful and booting up (UEFI and GPT conversion complete), can I remove the partitions on the end? I have 3 (listed in order)
"C:Windows (NTFS) 930GB" , "*: (FAT32) 100MB" , "*: (NTFS) 501MB"
the last two have no letters assigned. I have no separate 'System' partition. Thank you for your videos on this topic. Part 1 got me through the process.
hirens boot cd i've got still installed on a usb stick, almost forgot about actually ;p, would it worl on windows 11 aswell? i guess so but aint sure, i like your content it is well explained.
Thanks a lot 😊
I have a question I did do all the steps but when I open the partition manager and see the disk is already in mbr is that ok?
hi, is there a way for my disk 1 to convert back to mbr aswell as my disk 0? for some reason my ssd got affected aswell which has all my games installed on it
edit nvm I had to wait for the first one
Thanks alot man
man this is the only video ive found that knows how to fix this very niche problem I have, only issue is i plugged the usb drive with hirens boot cd onto it, and when i turned on the bricked computer, i've tried every single possible combination of the function keys, as well as looked at my documentation (cyberpower pc) and pressed f11 constantly to get it into the menu you had up on screen (where you could select the usb drive as the boot drive) as well as tired all the way from f5-12 with fn/without fn and everything in between. im at such a loss cause this computer cost me so much when I bought it and I do not have the money at all to buy another. need help asap 😭😭😭
Or clone the drive to an SSD if still on an HDD. Then you swap and have your data on safe on the old disk.
I used Hiren's BootCD all the time until it fell behind the tech. But with the new Win 10 x64 version, I am using it again
So I was in GPT 100% and still had a boot loop after setting secure boot. Idk my system is a dual bios (aorus b450M) apparently but it gives me the option to disable csm, secure boot, etc...any ideas why it still happened?
I have a problem don't know if it has to do with UEFI. But I have a Dell T3500 WORKSTATION and I know it's probably 8 or 10 years old and when I hit F12 to get to the USB boot option there is no boot option for USB. The hard drive is a MBR.
when you enable secure boot what is the key management ?? do i need to do any thing in that settings ??
My pc broke a year ago and i dont remember exactly what i did but i followed a different tutorial about secure boot but had the same problem, only the problem is that my pc keeps booting for like half a second and turns off again and keeps doing that. But if i remove my GPU it works just fine. Would this tutorial fix my issue too or do i have to do something else?
I don't have another windows computer so thanks a lot.
Question. So I followed all of his steps. However, it seems that I’m still unable to boot to Windows. Does that mean that I have to install Windows via USB? Note: I had a windows 10 watermark before I tried to upgrade to Windows 11
Hey got a question. I have a laptop with BIOS. Later same laptop with same hardware shipped with UEFI. Is it possible to update it?
If you didn't backup to USB drive before converting does it wipe out all data from hard drive and can you recover data later?
I have destroyed boot system windows 11 and Critical process died is my message. My disc is GPT and tried all the tutotrials to fix the sytem boot partition but NO RESULT. 2 questions . 1) the convertion from gpt to mbr does not delete the data from the disc ?? 2) if this method is safe I will make bootable my system just it will be mbr after that ? Thank you in advance
i need to turn secure boot off before i install a gpu in my old dell 7010.it's in legacy mode as well, i don't know if i have to be in uefi mode.i heard some gpu cards run badly in legacy mode.
How you doing sir. I just had a problem on my system where my pc won’t boot my windows. I have windows installed on a m.2 got and I do use uefi boot settings on my bios it just won’t do anything windows recovery can’t access the files I have windows on a usb but repair tools didn’t work. All this happened after I installed some uad drivers for an audio interface I didn’t restart the pc when it asked me to I wanted to restart later but I had a blue screen that night and that’s how started so I need to see what way should I go if I try to rebuilt the boot manager with cmd will I lose all my data? One thing that is strange is that is not even going to windows it just skips that completely and sends me to bios
Should i follow the same steps with DISK 1 on my PC. DISK 1 says Basic GPT. Disk 1 has Recovery 450 MB; FAT 32 99 MB; other 16 MB; E: OS-WIN7 194.76 GB; NTFS F: 1TB-HDD 292.97 GB: NTFS G: 1TB-HDD 443.23 GB
is this applicable to windows 11? secure boot just puts me into a boot loop and i gotta remove the cmos battery to reset bios.
i am enjoy what you doing
my pc was using legacy and I followed the steps of the previous video and it converted it to UEFI? should my computer be alive rn? did I just get lucky im so confused
so what it my drive is already in GPT and it has secure boot off, but when I turn secure boot on the system doesn't show bootable devices?
I been looking around for a while I cant find an explanation on what I'm doing wrong...
Hi, I just built a brand-new gaming pc and it is not detecting my NvMe Drive, the specs are MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus, Ryzen 7 2700x, Sapphire Nitro + RX 580 4gb, Gigabyte P750GM Modular Power Supply, G.Skill Ripjaw 4x8 = 32gb DDR4 3600mhz ram, Adata XPG Gammix s5 512gb NvMe M.2, Adata Sata SSD 240gb SSD, my issues are with the NvMe m.2 in M.2 slot #1 wont post at all then I put the NvMe in M.2 # 2 Slot and it boots to bios but bios is not detecting the NvMe m.2 drive. CSM is on but I'm afraid to change to UEFI because I have no clue about bios things, and I don't want to mess anything up. I read you must change to UEFI to be able to detect the NvMe but idk what that will do once I change from CSM to UEFI my nvme is brand new and never been used so there's no windows or anything on it currently. I installed the Adata Sata SSD with Windows 10, and it boots right up but in Disk Managment I still cannot see the NvMe drive at all, I'm afraid if I change from CSM to UEFI I may not be able to get back into bios my RX 580 on CPU-Z has the little UEFI box Check marked but I have no idea what I'm doing to get this NvMe to detect and work properly
the boot configuration data store could not be opened the requested system device cannot be found how could I fix this issue please
I couldn’t access windows after I did the last video, I tried reinstalling windows but now because i partitioned the drives I can’t install windows again on my ssd. Do you know how to fix that? Thanks
can you select more options and reformat the drive with the proper format?
But I don’t know how to make the menu pop up so I can choose to boot with the usb drive? I have a custom build gaming pc and when the screen is blank I can’t do anything. I tried escape f8,f9,12,f10 and none of these work
Positive is that you are not alone… It has been blackscreen for a month now so seems like a new motherboard here 😅
@@karlarlis540 yep it turns out motherboard got fried and I have to get a new one. The command I ran was what made it all go bad
can it also work for van 1067 error? (Valorant )

How about a video about BSOD and GSOD
I made this mistake and it showed the white line blinking, will my data get erased due to converting?
This answers my prob. i converted my disk into gpt, made a bottable usb w gpt partition,l and disabled csm on bios but when i restart. bios can't read my disk just keeps on coming back on bios mode

Bro at first excuse my english, I followed another youtuber to enable secure boot , he go to something named platform key or something after I clicked on it I ruined my bios & my pc doesn't boot again

My only question I think I have is in my bios it is set to legacy my original hard drive is set to GPT and it works fine my new one which is an SSD is not so I guess my question would be if I change it to GPT should I be changing it in the bios as well
I'm locked out after trying to reset an acer nitro. What can I do to fix it?
I fixed mine by just restoring default settings in bios. Changing boot order didn’t work for me.
My pc started crashing .. so I did all basic test like chkdsk, sfc, dism I even did memtest86 to check ram ..none of it showed errors ....so I fully uninstalled graphics driver in safe mode using ddu and installed it ..still my pc crashed so I i reset my and while resetting the reset stopped and I have no os .only gigabyte bios ran at that time ...so I turned on secure mode but now my pc does not even post .. need help plz.. I'm from India so there isn't much support.i saw your videos they where good .. again please help me what should I do
I have this problem that my screen has no signal. I have tried using 2 separate USBs but neither worked. This issue only occured after enabling SecureBoot. I have also tried pressing multiple buttons trying to boot from USB but none of them worked. I took out the graphics card and plugged my screen directly into the motherboard to see if that would work but that also lead to the same outcome: no signal. Do you have any idea how I can fix this?
Same here, are ur problem solved bro?
@@kevinantonius8821 So I fixed the problem. It did cost me some money. My CPU did not have integrated graphics so when I plugged my HDMI cable into my motherboard it did not give out any signal. Obviously my GPU also did not give any signal. I had to buy a CPU that was compatible with my motherboard that did have integrated graphics so when I plugged my HDMI cable into my motherboard it did give a signal to my monitor so that I could turn of Secure Boot and put my original CPU back into my motherboard. After that my GPU finally started giving the signal to my monitor.
Bro I have half way through by following ur steps and still the bios not showing up. Cpu is working and monitor showing no signal entering power saving. Please help
I have this same problem what did you do???
thx
No problem.
I learnt a good few years ago when shit happened was I use 1 main drive for the operating system only, and extra internal drivers for storage then you won't lose your data when things go tit's up save a lot of stress and work
Nice beard man!
When you convert mbr to gpt, dont you have to go into the bios on restart and select boot to UEFI?
Yes.
Do i get my old files back?
Non-UEFI Bios doesn't support boot from GPT partition scheme. 😂 Never do that.
White dot in my Asus vivobook is not blinking what should I do
Sir my PC boots slow It shows the windows logo easily but takes too much time on the loading screen after following the steps from your other video about converting MBR to GPT and legacy to UEFI
Please help
@@TechLrns lol 🤣
How would you get a bios that would support a secure boot option.
Its a fundamental hardware difference. You would need a motherboard that was designed with a UEFI BIOS.
@@CyberCPU right because even if I save my computer I’m just back where I was before. Can I simply put in a new motherboard and transfer everything?
Can i still get my old files from my computer if i use a laptop?
Hey CyberCpu Tech, whenever i disabled csm support it gets enabled on its own. What should i do to resolve this issue ?
You should still be able to boot from UEFI even with legacy support enabled. It just might be a little more complicated to setup the boot order.
What motherboard are you using? Maybe a bios update will help.

Same!
For everyone, if you can do a qflash for bios, I swear it works!!!! A new version for bios or even a bios instalation will reset bios and everything will be normal, thank me later!🙃
No mine is still black screened
i love how people never include the possybility to just burn isos on blank dvd's anymore
true hiren boots from dvd slower than usb but it is still a viable option
also i did the same thing to my ssd just to check if my bios boot from uefi...it does not
so work arounf was a usb intermediate bootloader like you use to boot from pcie ssd on unsuported motherboards
Most computers don't even have DVD drives anymore.
@@CyberCPU you haven't been to poland
anyway iso is still an imageof a disc and it is even in hiren's name i love that irony
Why not use Ventoy in your thumbdrive. Then You can have as many ISO's as You like, without using a program like Rufus. Works like a charm for me!
My thumb drive gets used on tons of different computers and I've had compatibility problems with that before. I boot from my thumb drive daily on a wide range of customer computers and I've had the best luck with partition magic.
