I'm new to gardening but just bought 2 apple trees, and a cherry tree last year. I looked at them this year and thought "Now What?" SO the information in your video was valuable and it gave me a good start to understanding these trees. Thank you for your time and effort!! A New Subscriber. 🌹🍀

⛄✂🌳 Very helpful, thank you. Having planted some Plums this past Spring I’m waiting to prune till Winter. Appreciate your tips about the “weather” implications.

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who likes to look at naked trees.

That's some great advice, when I prune branches larger than 3 inches we will use a little latex paint to help heal it also

I dono if it’s true but l heard that rubbing ashes in the wound of a tree will stop the bleeding and help ward of negative influences..?

Great information. I’ve seen videos on pruning in summer to produce more fruit the next year.
If you read this can you comment?

Depends on the fruit, summer pruning applies more to trees that produce on last year’s new branches like peaches.

Why? To keep the tree on the small side.

What do you think of summer pruning for the purpose of keeping a fruit tree to a small size in a backyard orchard? I learned this from a book called Grow a Little Fruit Tree by Ann Ralph. I can accept reduced fruit production in exchange for the aesthetics of a small tree and reaching everything without a ladder. Would that be a valid reason to summer prune? Thanks for all the great info you put out. Cheers.

Interesting... So now I wonder if I'm seeing my plum tree start up so much summer growth because I had a late frost that knocked ~all my flowers off.
Someone correct me if this is incorrect, but it kind of makes sense to me now. So the tree is using that energy for the new branch growth rather than going into the fruit that it would have, is that correct? I thought it was a strange mass amount of growth this year, but that makes sense as I have only seen like 4 fruits on that tree.

100% of energy in spring it can grow mostly branches or mostly fruit, your choice.

alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride aka Lysol is the best for disinfecting tools according to all of the research I have read. I buy it as a concentrate from a janitorial store because I go through a ton. Bleach isn't a good idea, it destroys equipment. if you need to disinfect plastic, rubber, or other stuff its good, but not metal tools. ethanol is okay, but according to the studies needs a very long soak time to kill stuff and still isnt as effective.
