What a way to celebrate 50 Years of the East Somerset Railway! I think that the late British Artist and Founder of the Railway “David Shephard” would be so proud and delighted to see that the Railway is still going strong!
Loco in service were:
Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST "Lady Nan" doing the "Drive for a Tenner".
GWR 5101 Class "4110" &
LMS Ivatt Class 2-6-0 "46447" on the Passenger Trains.
Special Guess Loco was GWR 2900 Class, 2999 "Lady of Legend" courtesy of Didcot Railway Centre!
The Miniature Railway also have a new member to the fleet! The Coate Water Miniature Railway's 0-4-0 Lawnmower Diesel "Fred" has transferred to Cranmore!
The Ivatt 2-6-0 & Lady of Legend did a demonstration freight train each. From Cranmore Station to Cranmore West Shed!
On one of the return trips from Mendip Vale. 4110 & 46447 top and tail the train! 4110 at the front and 46447 at the rear!
The highlight for me was probably see 46447 & Lady of Legend double heading the train to Mendip Vale and back!
Maybe one day, "Black Prince" & "The Green Knight" will return to the Railway? But until then,
Happy 50th Anniversary “East Somerset Railway”!
