MY GOD! I had been looking for the random effect for HOURS! (until I found this tutorial I looked for it for THREE hours! For real) Thank you so much! You have no idea how much you've helped me!
this is a easy to follow well explained tutorial. especially in material and lighting section he uses the most fundamental yet efficient 3d lighting and texturing method to get an interesting resault.
Amazing! You guys always help me so much :) And I appreciate it how you go over the basics again and revert to important and handy tools, maneuvers, etc. for the viewer to use.
Thanxs for share it. Instance use Variation you can use for colors Texture > Mograph > Multi Shader, add some colors and in the Random effect > Parameter > Color > Color Mode 'On'
Thanks for this!! What about when you are working with highly subdivided objects that are different, so I have 3 different objects that are also highly subdivided, how can I work with that?
Could you make some high end tutorial for advanced users as well? Or do you have some proposition about where I could find such tutorials? Great work btw :)
hey, i know it's not too related to the video but i've watched so many of your tutorials and i feel pretty good in c4d now. so first off thanks! but i'm learning 3D for VFX. lately i've been talking to some people and a lot of them have been telling me that the industry standard for film is Maya. after watching around 100 hours of you guy's videos i wanna know your honest opinion to whether sticking with c4d will work out for someone who is looking to do VFX. regardless thanks for teaching me and making me fall in love with 3D!
Please do a tutorial on how you can add graphics to a footage like in the movies. I am planning to kdo a short film with clean and better graphics than the local graphics we have in our country. The tutorial will be of great help as I will learn alot as I plan to create more content and learn from great motion designer like you. Thank you.
Hi guys, nice tut! I don't have rigid body in my package. I'm using r17 studio. can anyone kindly help with the steps to fixing this stuff? Cheers guys
Variation effect on my version 17 of cinema 4d only worked when I selected the Object Variantion to Object Name. Not sure if it works properly now but I hope it is...
Great tutorial! I am new to Cinema and I noticed that the intro tutorials are r14 based and since current version is r18 I'm wondering if things have changed so much that some portions might be outdated?
Almost everything in those videos will work with R18. Some of the rendering and reflection parts may not work quite the same. Especially now with Physical Renderer and Reflectance.
Why does the Rigid Body simulation tag work on your cube object? I can only apply Rigid Body to MoGraph objects and Collider body to polygon objects. Have they changed the behavior of simulation tags since this video was uploaded? I'm using C4D Broadcast R18.
i'm learning so much with your tutorials and eyedesyn tutorials...siete i migliori(your are the best) i'm a newbie let me say, this may be my fifth month, but i really learn fast ;) though i just wanna learn it just for fun!! so here are my problems with this tutorial: 1- can you tell me how to add those presets in the variation shader? because my c4d r17 browser is completly empty..and the R16 those not have the Variation shader...(but i was able to do it just like a rainbow texture using the Multi Shader...you see, i learn fast ihihihi) 2- more important, i don't know why but instead of falling down the stairs the cloner objects just explode and keep flying..i even try adding a gravity effector, but i think i don't know how it works... anyway on Cinema R16 everything works fine, the cloner objects fall right, i use a multi shader for the texture... if you can reply it will be really helpfull, or i will learn it forward with some of your other tutorials forsure!!! thanks for your tutorials
Hi, I am new in cinema 4d. Truly i am big friend in your every tutorials. I have a problem when I am create materials. I am follow your tutorials but it doesn`t work. problem is when i am select color, texture, variation. but my object still one color. what i do please suggest me.
Hey @greyscalegorilla, I am trying to import an .obj from rhino and have it collide with the ground plane in a similar fashion as this tutorial. But for some reason, even after I set the simulation tag to rigid the part still goes through the ground plane and will not collide. I have tried setting the parent clone to rigid and then changing the inherit tab to apply tab to children but that did not work either. Can collide simulations only be applied to geometry that is build within C4D or am I just missing a step completely? Any input to point me in the right direction would greatly be appreciated! Thanks
This could be due to a number of reasons. The first that comes to mind is the accuracy of the simulation. Try decreasing the collision margin and increasing the steps per frame to get better accuracy.
Honestly, I didn't like the video. I knew everything you said in video, I was here to learn more about simulation tags, you just add rigid body and collider all the rest of the video was some basic lighting, material, cloner and ...
@@Greyscalegorilla I can still stand away from screen but then it's hard to follow instruction, lol , I don't understand why we see you at all actually, after all its about cinema 4d instructions, constructive feedback .

Excellent !!!!!
Great job explaining basic concepts as well as navigation and shortcut keys. This is very welcoming to someone who's just getting started with C4D!
I appreciate that. I want to try and get people learning the basics as fast as possible. Have fun learning!
Love this tut, do you have a tutorial of your intro?
Thanks! No tutorial for that yet.

I'm not sure which version of cinema4d I have... I think it says something about bodypaint 3d? but my set up looks pretty similar..?
Good..cool

is there a reason that he/ you did not put the rigid body tag on the cloner itself - instead of the childs individually?
i'm learning so much with your tutorials and eyedesyn tutorials...siete i migliori(your are the best)
i'm a newbie let me say, this may be my fifth month, but i really learn fast ;) though i just wanna learn it just for fun!!
so here are my problems with this tutorial:
1- can you tell me how to add those presets in the variation shader? because my c4d r17 browser is completly empty..and the R16 those not have the Variation shader...(but i was able to do it just like a rainbow texture using the Multi Shader...you see, i learn fast ihihihi)
2- more important, i don't know why but instead of falling down the stairs the cloner objects just explode and keep flying..i even try adding a gravity effector, but i think i don't know how it works...
anyway on Cinema R16 everything works fine, the cloner objects fall right, i use a multi shader for the texture...
if you can reply it will be really helpfull, or i will learn it forward with some of your other tutorials forsure!!! thanks for your tutorials
Hie Sir, I want to render alembic particles in c4d redshift how to do that???
nice yeer, i don't know c4d but i love this tuts and i try this
Give it a try. This one was made for beginners!
but i don't on dynamic
i use c4d R15
Hi,

i had the same issue, did you find a solution?
Will there be Voronoi particles
Nice
Thanks!
What version do you need for the variation effect in materials?
i think its R17

I cant find the riggidbody tag under simulations im using r17
how to open a new scene?
ctrl + ???
ım not usig c4 but ithink CTRL+N
your 'Intro to C4D' course is not working
We'll take a look, in the meantime you can email support@greyscalegorilla.com and we'll get you setup.
