  • Testing youtube's offer for unlimited video length, here's a short-ish version of an educational video I've been working on with Otoe-Missouria elder, Marvin Diamond, and the instruments and ethos of the Native American Church.

    I had the honor of meeting Mr. Diamond when I lived out that way from 2000 to 2018. I am from the Seneca tribe of NY. It's important to pass these traditions on to our children and grandchildren. Thank you for sharing this blessing.

    I live on and watch over the old otoe-missouria reservation land in Nebraska. I can finally put a face to the land! I go out there and run the dogs a lot. It's gorgeous land and there is a special feeling from it. Your grandfather was one of the 200 some that made the 18 day walk south after their land was stolen. I feel like I should offer to send you some soil in a jar! I'm so glad I found you!

    This is the way it should be taught like all good elders have done. There's an important tone to his voice that is respectful. Well said Marvin Diamond. Good teachings, thank you.

    Post more videos Doc!!!!!! Quick question, do they untie and re-tie the drum for each meeting? I ask because I would think that after a while the water would sour.

    • @perrynealpratt9352
      @perrynealpratt9352 3 года назад

      Yes they do they keep them together in side the kettle in the peotie cercle they know the one's that can tie a good drum so they are ask to come to the meetings for this purpose and highly honerd during the meeting.

    • @perrynealpratt9352
      @perrynealpratt9352 3 года назад +1

    Forgot to answer your question. The drum is tied just before the meeting begins in the evening, and then after the meeting is over somewhere after sunrise.
