today my brother graduated high school, the ceremony was held by The Friendship Society in my town. We prayed to the creator and smudged. The hand drumming was beautiful, they sang the honor song. my mom used to walk around the house, drum in hand and I would sing with her.

I made my drum a year ago in a drum circle. I am trying to learn songs to sing for myself, the land and in gatherings. I would love to see more videos like this one. It was helpful and I feel more connected after playing and singing along with you guys. Thank you for this! Happy Indigenous Peoples Day 🧡

AHO! Thank you for this. I have been down lately and I'm getting ready to head down to the beach with my hand drum this morning and celebrate my life a little.

Beautiful to listen to our traditional songs. If I'm correct that's the North Thompson river and is a nice back drop.

Hello Bernice, at 6:10 the rhythm which is played is a blues shuffle rhythm. Are you familiar with the idea that Native American music could influence Blues music?
    Best greetings,

Beautiful. Is there anywhere i can learn Iroquise or Mohawk Hand drum songs? I have no connection to my grandparent and the family on my fathers side - so i have to search and learn the culture by myself.. I live in Norway ;( i hope i can visit Canada and USA one day.

Search out local friendship and cultural centers for family nights, lots of different nations sharing songs and other traditional practices

We don't have hand drum songs. We have social and ceremony songs. search Haudenosaunee social songs. Akwesasne big bear singers are really good

I would just like to point out that the 2nd song you sang isn't just a Secwepemc Honor song its The Mitchell Song made by a man named Mitchell from Esketemc First Nations south of Williams Lake. Much love and respect.
